Including Feb 3rd, 126 missions were flown by F-35. All escorded by F-22. F-35 had AWACS support and support by Growlers. As enemy acted up to 20 F-16, which were alsways outnumbered by blue force planes and had neighter AWACS nor EW support. During the missions 3 F-35 were counted as shot down. Not really overwhelming, if you ask me.

Using .jpg in 1stGen Games
Gepard replied to Foxtrott's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Some SF2 models will not work in WoX world, even not with WoI Operation Kadesh. Its a trial and error. If the LOD is not visible in WoI Op Kadesh, then you have no chance to get the plane to fly in the first gen sims. -

With patch 2008 you can put decals in the Decals folder too, like in SF2. -
dragchute for Soviet aircraft
Gepard replied to Sokol's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The cruciform dragchutes are not invented in the USSR. They are east german know how, invented by a small company, that still today exist and makes the best military parachutes worldwide. The NVA Fallschirmjäger and today the Fallschirmjäger and Special Forces of the Budneswehr swearing of their parachutes. -
ThirdWire Rocket Pods
Gepard replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Wasnt the ammount of the rockets in a salvo choosen by the fire control system of the plane or heli? In soviet systems it was so. You could select salvos of 4, 16, 32 or unlimited. If you selected 4 and your plan carried two pods, each pod fired 2 rockets. If you had 4 pods, each pod fired only 1 rocket. -
ThirdWire Rocket Pods
Gepard replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
How real is the setting of the fire rate? For the soviet pods i can say, that TK's pods fire rate is much to slow. You can empty a UB-16 (in game wrongly designated with UV-16, UB stands for UniversalBlock, dont know for what UV stands) in less than 1 second. -

Which terrains do you have? -

Gepard replied to WINGEDHUSSAR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It could be, that it depends on the terrain you use. The DC-10 needs very long runways. If your terrain has only large, medium or short runways, the game will crash. Try the stock GermanyCE terrain. There the DC-10 will fly. There is an other thing you still must change. In the skin folders of the DC-10, the skin is in jpg format. That you must convert in bmp format. Then you will see following bird in game: tested with WoI Operation Kadesh with GermanyCE terrain. -

I forgot to say, if you use SF2 models in SFP1 WoX World, you must convert the ini files from Unicode to ANSI code. Sounds difficult, i know, but it isnt. Open the ini files with notepad editor and press "save as". Then you can choose the right data format. Simply select ANSI and save. Give it a try. -
Has someone a X-Wing for SF2?
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
To make a terrain, so that it looks like the Death Star would be difficult, but making terrains like the ice planet Hoth would not to difficult. -

Gepard replied to WINGEDHUSSAR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Some SF2 planes can be used in WoX/SFP1 world, especially if you use Wings over Israel Kadesh. But some others you cant use. Give it a try and hope for the best. Perhaps it will run. The other problem is, that SF has no ferry flight missions, so that you cant simulate the flight of an airliner or transport plane. In a skripted mission it would be possible, but not with random missions or in campaigns. -

Early Russian BVR Missiles and other useless additional weight
Gepard replied to InvalidTargetArea's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It happend under unbelievable bad conditions. The missiles were stored not properly. The maintanance of the missiles was poor. The ground crews were not special trained for the R-27 missile. And the targets were high agil MiG-29 or Su-27, which were able to outturn the incoming missile. The AIM-7M had had 33% hit rate in Desert storm. Where the american ground crews were high skilled technicians, and not uneducated farmers. The Sparrow was stored under perfect condition and the maintanance was perfect. Additionally the RWS of iraqi planes were so outdated, that they often were unable to detect the radar guidance beam of the Sparrow M. AIM-7M and R-27R were comparable. And both were bad missiles. Thatswhy the AIM-120 and R-77 were developed. -
Missile flies parallel to BVR target
Gepard replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Then the missile lost the target lock somewhere during the flight and is flying now unguided till self destruction is activated. If you choose the missile view in game, you will see, when it happen. The missile starts shaking a little bit, at this very moment, and then is going his own way after lost of target lock. -
Missile flies parallel to BVR target
Gepard replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Seeker FoV should be 6 instead 60. It means in your case that the missile can "see" targets which are 60° outside of the flightpath. The search cone of the missile is 120°. This is to much for the Phoenix. But it should not the reason for the strange behaviour of the missile. What is the target? Could it be, that it has overrated deceptive jammer? -
Random skins possible?
Gepard posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Is it possible that in game the skin of a plane is select randomly by game engine? Background: In the LSK (east german air force) each single combat plane had an unique camo scheme. There were no two combat planes with identical camo.
