Die Mirage war eine Waffe für den Krieg. Die MiG-21 war es ebenso. Der Starfighter G machte sich gut auf dem Schießplatz. Es ist im Prinzip der selbe Schlammassel den wir heute mit dem Eurocopter Tiger haben. Überzüchtet und im scharfen Schuß nicht zu gebrauchen, aber trotzdem ein tolles Teil zum spielen für die Piloten.

If a building machine is moving the bomb it is often so, that now the acid can do the job and the fuse will detonate the bomb after a while.

Theoretisch sollte die F-104G die MiG-21 schlagen. Aber in der Praxis sah das ganz anders aus. Theoretisch sollte die F-16 eine MiG-23 abhängen können, aber als die Israelis das testeten sah es ganz anders aus. Theoretisch sollte die MiG-21SM eine F-5E auskurbeln können, Tests in Achtjubisk zeigten aber das Gegenteil. Ist immer das selbe Problem: Theorie und Praxis. Erst in der Praxis zeigt es sich ob eine Waffe etwas taugt und da sah es für den Starfighter nicht so toll aus. Ich will nicht behaupten, daß der Starfighter als Flugzeug schlecht war. Er war eine hochinnovative Konstruktion und im mancher technischen Lösung seiner Zeit voraus. Etliche seiner Innovationen wurden später bei anderen Flugzeugen angewendet, ich brauche als Beispiel nur an das System zum Anblasen der Grenzschicht zu denken. Das war eine Klasse idee. Und als Sportflugzeug wäre die F-104 wirklich Top gewesen. Das sollte sie aber nicht sein, sondern eine Waffe. Und bei einer Waffe kommt es nicht auf absolute Einzeltopwerte an, sondern auf auf die Summe aller Werte. Die F-104 war ein schönes Ingenieurflugzeug. Die Jungs haben sich echt ausgetobt und ein beeindruckendes Flugzeug für die große Show zusammengebastelt. Sah toll aus, flog echt schnell und auf dem Papier sahen die anderen Leistungen auch echt Spitze aus. Beispiel: Die F-104 hatte ne Kanone, die MiG-21 nicht. Aber was nützt mir eine super tolle M61 Vulcan im Starfighter wenn mir beim abfeuern der Waffe die ganzen Sicherungen rausfliegen und es im Cockpit dunkel wird? Gar nichts. ... etc. Ich weiß, Du köntest noch ne Menge Charts ausgraben, die beweisen, daß die F-104G der MiG-21 überlegen war. Doch mitunter sollte man sich die Frage stellen, ob wirklich alles was irgendwo geschrieben steht wirklich die Wahrheit ist. Außerdem noch ein kleiner Hinweis zu dem MiG-21 Chart. Über welche MiG-21 wird da etwas ausgesagt? Die Versionen der 21 waren fliegerisch sehr unterschiedlich, da gab es welche, die waren so agil, daß sie sich schon in die Kurve legten, wenn der Pilot nur daran dachte und andere, die blieben so spurtreu geradeaus wie ein Sandlaster bei 100 Sachen auf der Autobahn.

Wenn die F-104 wirklich die MiG-21 auskurven konnte, so stelle ich mir die Frage, warum sie im indisch pakistanischen Krieg so versagt hat. Sie wurde von den MiG's ausgekurbelt und in mindestens zwei Fällen wurde eine mit voller Nachbrennerleistung fliehende F-104 von MiG-21FL eingeholt und mit der Kanone abgeschossen. Es ist wahr, daß die F-104 schneller war. Aber Höchstgeschwindigkeit ist kein Kriteritum. Die meisten Luftkämpfe wurden im Unterschallbereich geführt. Da kam es auf die Beschleunigung an und komischerweise waren die 21F-13, PF, SPS und bis besser als die 104. Die M und MF waren hingegen schlechter. Der Hauptvorteil der MiG-21 war, daß sie im Prinzip ein gutmütiges Flugzeug war, während die F-104 im Prinzip ein Biest war. Auf die Nase konnte man mit beiden fallen, aber die Chance daß es mit der 104 aus technischen Gründen geschah war größer. Wenn ihr mich fragt, so hätte die F-5 viel besser zur Bundesluftwaffe gepaßt.

Deine Anmerkungen mögen ja stimmen. Es ist aber so, daß kein anderer Vogel vorher so in den höchsten Tönen gelobt wurde um dann so erbärmlich abzuschmieren. Natürlich war der Sprung vom Unterschall zur Mach 2 Klasse zu groß. Da mußte zwangsläufig etwas schief gehen. Selbst wenn man die Mach 1+ Klasse Flugzeuge nicht übersprungen hätte hätte es noch gewaltige Probleme gegeben. Nimm als Beispiel die andere deutsche Luftwaffe. Die LSK hat auch genügend MiG-21 verloren, im Verhältnis gesehen nicht viel weniger als die LW an F-104G eingebüßt hat. Aber die MiG-21 hat viel weniger Pilotenfrauen zu Witwen gemacht, weil sie einfach das umgänglichere Flugzeug war. Sie hatte Sicherheitsreserven, die die F-104G nicht hatte. Außerdem hatte die MiG-21 eine Bodenführungsorganisation im Rücken die für ihre Hauptaufgabe zugeschnitten war. So konnte sie effektiv als Jäger operieren. Ein entsprechend dichtes Jägerleitnetz hatte die F-104G nicht. Sie mußte als Jäger also zwangsläufig versagen.

I also had no problem with the wingman when flying Intercept or CAP missions. My experience was that i designated a target for the wingman then i shot this target down and my No.2 was from now hunting the other enemy planes on his own and got sometimes kills too . -

RP-22 is called Saphir 21. Then there is a Saphir 23 for the MiG-23. Almas-23 i have never heared, but it must be something different. -
It would be nice, but i doubt that it will fly again. You cant take a plane from a museum and bring it easily in a flight ready condition. It would cost a lot of money and i think in todays economical crisis it would be much to much money. Unfortunatly.

To hang a bomb on a plane is easy, wheter nuke or conventional. All planes that can carry bombs of a certain size can carry nuclear bombs. But this is only one side. You must also have a wiring on the plane to activate the nuke. I guess, that the F-4E would have been the plane of choice for such a mission. But on the other hand a nuclear counter strike of the USSR would have blown Israel out of the sky. In 1956 the Soviets threaten France, GB and Israel with the big stick and in 1973 the location of some airborn divisions at the Krimean penisula stopped the war. -

THey have a very simple, but very dangerous weapon. Around 100 km northeast of Seoul you will find a big north korean artifical lake with a big damb. If the NKs blow this damb in the air a big flood will run toward Seoul and will reach it into few hours.

The swing frequence is the frequence on which an object starts to swing. For instance take a glass of water and move your finger over the dge of the glass. If you do it correct the glass will starts to "sing", it is the singn that you hit the swing frequence. At a bridge the swing frequence can be "found" by the wind. If the wind is blowing from the right direction and with the right speed the bridge will start to swing. To avoid this you must only "jam" the swing frequence with some attachments on the bridge. At one of the old vides you will see a car on the swinging bridge. This was the attempt to "jam" the swing frequence, but the car was to small for that big bridge. The jam factor was not strong enough. By the way, a marching column is also able to bring a bridge to swing if the soldiers marching by step. Thatswhy it is forbitten to do this.

Revenge, the honour of family, etc Sounds like a sort of vendetta. This will become a never ending story of revenge and counter revenge. For instance: A man was arested by a policeman. He takes his revenge and engage the policeman. The son of the policeman takes his revenge to the man, The son of the man takes his revenge to the son of the policemen. etc. If you ask me its a very stupid behaviour.

Tja, its not a new problem. Its simply a wrong design of the bridge. If the wind hits the swing frequence (hope this is the correct term, Schwingungsfrequenz is it called in german language), the bridge becomes shaking. Kick the architect into the butt for not being able to do the job right!

Perhaps one reason that it went relativly well here in Germany is that the germans are not as hottempered (hope this is the correct english term) as cubans or other southlanders.

The situations you decribe are common to me. You was free in speech till you got to a certain border. To test out this border was a tricky thing. It depended on the people which were part of a discussion or a meeting. And astonishingly it was very often possible to discuss hard and open with "believing communists", because they wanted to convice you (very similar to believing christs but only in an other direction). Problematic it became if you had to face "110 % ers". This guys were careerists and thatswhy very dangerous. One wrong word and ... imagine yourself. (After the Change this guys were the first who throw away their party books and became members of the democratic parties.) But the people got a fine sense to find out wheter type of person sat on the other side of the table.

Point 1. The so called "Stasi Akten" files. The names in this files are "blacked" what means you cant read the names of the IM (call them spies, covered agents etc.pp what you want, here in Germany we call the IM "informal members") So it is nearly impossible to say exactly who was the one who told the Stasi. Point 2. From my own experience. In my file i found a lot of things which must come from IM's. I have no problem with that if the IM's told the truth. I'm a man who stand to his words and actions. If the IM's told rubbish then it is a different matter. And in one case i would like to cut a throat, if i would only find out who was that p....g! But it seems to be that the Stasi was smart enough to find out wheter a information of an IM was true or rubbish. In my case one IM told the Stasi that i was an "enemy of the state". But this info was identified by the Stasi as an attempt of a personal revenge of this person to me. So i had no repressions from the Stasi side. In contrary they checked me trough and i got the highest ranking of reliability so that i was allowed to walk the borderline "enemyward", what meant between borderfence and borderline. (What a doubtfull honour!) The Stasi is declared as a overwhelming repression organization. But the normal citizen never saw and heared anything from them. Personaly i never saw them. I knew that they were existend, that they were listening, watching, that you had to be carefull what to say. Not really different from todays life. Only 5 % of GDR citizens had closer "contact" with the Stasi and got trouble with it. But this 5 % had a really hard life. Point 3: Johnathan wrote that you can request to look into your Stasi file. This is true. It is also true that journalists, scientists etc can take a look into this files, but only in the files of the east germans. Files of west german people are closed. It is also true, that the agency BStU, who is the bureau of clearing the Stasi files, has some strange behaviour. A free research into the files if not allowed. If a scientist or journalist want to search for a subject, he gets only parts of the material, never the whole stuff. Also leting out is a kind of lying! In some cases it had become obviously that the BStU and other "victim organisations" are forging material. In the Stasi museum at Hohenschönhausen for instance you can see a torture cell. The stupid thing is that this cell was built in after 1990. In GDR times was at this place the kitchen. This is a very stupid way of acting, because it made it easy for the "old commies" to say "This is not ours", "This is forged!" BStU is also know for selective annihilation of files. As you see the german way is far away to be perfect. The files are still today a methode to duck people and devide the germans into parts. It would be better to taken this files away from BStU or "victim organisation" and give them into the hand of reliable archivars or scientists. Or to burn them.

As far as i know it is possible. But only if you have seasoned tilesets, so that the game is drawing the correct winter, spring, summer or fall tileset. With this sets the weather conditions are connected. This way is gone in First Eagles by stock. All other games does not have this feature by stock. You must implement it by yourself. I had a comparable problem when i built BoB terrain. I got CTD caused by the LOD file of the Eiffel tower in Paris. I dont know why. -

Which side do you fly for? In Israel2 terrain the Anti Ship missions are for Israel only. If you fly a MiG you will have the descriped problem.
