Intercept footage from a Bear
allenjb42 replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Some friendly advice for the great British public on how to recognise German Soviet Russian bombers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-31537705 For some reason I have a hankering to play the old Janes Fighters Anthology missions that had you flying Typhoons against fleets of Bears in a re-run of the Battle of Britain! I always used to have movie theme playing in the background too -

Doesn't the new Tom Clancy novel have a US/NK conflict as part of the plot, so why haven't they hacked the publisher's website? Obviously the NKs don't want to take on Jack Ryan!

You're not searching correctly! Try these http://combatace.com/files/file/14997-sf2-the-final-countdown7z/ A three 'single mission' pack based on the movie "The Final Countdown." It's one of my Top 5 favorite movies of all time. The basic requirement for this mod is SF2NA patched to Jul 2013. http://combatace.com/files/file/14990-sf2-991-operation-nordic-storm7z/ This is something nobody else may have done before, as far as I know. This is a pack of 30+ single missions http://combatace.com/files/file/15019-sf2-1991-war-plan-tripwire7z/ A companion mod to Operation Nordic Storm (Nordic Storm is not required to play this). This is a pack of 19 single missions http://combatace.com/files/file/15029-sf2-2014-the-senkaku-conflict7z/ “The Senkaku Conflict” is a set of 11 single player missions in which you fly as a member of the JASDF (Japanese Air Self Defense Force) against the Chinese in a limited, regional conflict. You can probably take it as read, unless otherwise stated in the Readme, that a mod released after July 2013 should be good to go on a July 2013 install.

Downolads question
allenjb42 replied to tselepides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Kevin, I know that Razbam aren't doing anything new for SF, but the link is to their store where they still seem to be selling their products for the Thirdwire games, albeit 1st Gen. And the pits for the Intruders and Prowlers are very nice. Owl workshop I think is a Chinese site but looks like original mods and not pirate copies. Most of the links on the Thirdwire page are to 1st Gen mods. There used to be a site once upon a time that had loads of modded pilots, hangar screens and lots of modded planes, oh, and pictures of cats! Wonder what happened to that one...? -

Patches question
allenjb42 replied to tselepides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
If you go to the Thirdwire update page you can download the patch to bring it to Jul 2013 level: http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_pc.htm NB You might need to download some older patches first though http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_archive.htm -

Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots

Ike's airwing in action over Syria/Iraq against IS forces: F/A-18E's of VFA-143 F/A-18F's of VFA-103 F/A-18C's of VFA-131 & VFA-83 Rounding off the strike force - E/A-18G's of VAQ-140 And watching over them all, an E-2C of VAW-121 The above pictures were taken before the 25th December Russian invasion of Ukraine that saw the Eisenhower battle group, together with the USS Nassau battle group and her Marines and airwing (including AV-8B Harriers and MV-22 Ospreys) despatched from the Med northwards into the Black Sea to support the Ukrainians against the long-expected overt Russian incursion, following months of conflict with 'rebels' equipped with Russian supplied heavy weapons, including tanks and artillery. Other units deployed would include a detachment of US Navy X-47 stealth UAVs aboard the Ike, USAF bombers and a squadron of F-22 fighters to Incirlik in Turkey, as well as a number of MQ-9 Reaper armed UAVs and US Army AH-64D Longbow Apache units to Ukraine itself, operating from Ukrainian forward operating bases. Just an idea for an expansion pack for eburger68's excellent Black Sea Crisis mod if you're interested Eric. (All of the above are available here at CA, although some may be in the SF1 downloads section). -

Agreed, and Homefries A-6/EA-6 superpacks are an essential addition to any install that includes modern USN/USMC action -

I've been considering getting SOH, but I don't know if I can justify the cost at the moment, especially when it's largely duplicating the excellent Operation Darius mod, not to mention that it's for 1st Gen games and I haven't the time to convert it to SF2:NA standard. Still, the helos do look nice... Required screenies: Razbam Prowlers, including some FSX converted skins. -

The arrival of the Hawk 205 in 2005 gave the Dhimari Air Force it's first single seat fighter since the retirement of the Hawker Hunter over 20 years previously Initial armament was the AMRAAM/Sidewinder combination as sported by the two seater 125s, as well as the ubiquitous gunpod. Perhaps the most important thing about the 205, however, was the inclusion of the air refuelling probe. Together with a newly purchased squadron of surplus USMC KC-130s Dhimar now had a force that could could loiter, carry out extended border and coastal patrols and deep strike missions against targets in the previously unreachable interior of Paran. It is believed that the Hawk 125s and the remaining Hawk 65s will be retrofitted with refuelling probes in the near future. The new Hawk 205s brought with them more advanced armaments (which would also be available to the two seat Hawk 125 fleet) including AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles to supplement and eventually replace the venerable AIM-9 sidewinders as well as advanced bombs such as Paveway III & IV LGBs and JDAMs, as well as Brimstone and ALARM missiles. The Hawk 205s represented a significant purchase both in terms of the increase in Dhimar's capabilities and also as a vital stepping stone to the acquisition of the EF-2000 Typhoon in 2017. -

I think Russo is doing one as part of his Hawk T1 upgrade.
