More development shots of the Belgium camo. Note I am not trying to match colors to Gterl's game map, it just happens when aircraft and game map colors are realistic.

This all new model with hi-res textures is the first of three new Gladiators for FE/FE2. Dedicated SF2 versions will be released shortly. A lot of guys helped me develop these models, particularly Baffmeister (new FMs), LloydNB (Sea Gladiator skins), and Stephen1918 (file bashing). Software problems prevented me from including battle damage TGA files, so the raw artwork will be posted separately as "Holes" so you can make your own TGAs. Enjoy. THIS MODEL IS ONLY TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS FREEWARE AND IN NO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL IT BE USED, EVEN IN PART, OF ANYTHING THAT IS PAYWARE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMBAT ACE MODDERS AGREEMENT. -

Steve - I've never gotten the Vogesen map to work, so I have a question. Is it adapted from SF, and thus has 2000 meter ground tiles? Or, is it a true FE map with 500 meter ground tiles? If its the latter, I might consider making new 1024 ground art that would be based on the existing ground art. If that's the case, would you have any suggestions?

Delightful! I wondered what you were up to.

Working on upgrades to the CR42. When the Glad and CR42 are as good as it gets - right now - I'll work with LloydNB and Baffmeister to make the SF2 releases. Shot below shows progress on the Belgian camo job for the 1940 CR42, flying over a test 1024 tile in Gterl's Italian Front map.

Dunno what to tell you. The pilot should either work, or not work - aircraft location should not be a factor. Maybe some other guys know something I don't and can answer your question?

You seem to have a unique problem. The Gladiator models were tested by four other guys and no one reported your problems.

If you like the look of the FE2 desert game world in shots below, here's how to make it. Note the new terrain tiles replace most, but not all of the original terrain tiles, so the upgrade is not 100% uniform across the entire terrain map. Start with Stephen1918's excellent Palestine Terrain: http://combatace.com/files/file/14857-palestine-terrain/ Then, replace the existing terrain tile art with JSAggie's Hi-res desert tiles: http://combatace.com/files/file/12368-hi-res-desert-tiles/ Then, upgrade the game lighting and clouds with my Improved Game World stuff: http://combatace.com/files/file/15939-improved-gameworld-appearance/ If you have a healthy video card, then add the hi-res airfields at bottom. Tinkered with some desert ground objects this morning. When Gterl and I were experimenting with a Spanish Civil War game map, he got a test version to run problem-free using 1024 art tiles and a few 2048 tiles for airfields. Shot below doubles the "special" art tile to 4096.

File Name: Gladiator "Holes" File Submitter: Geezer File Submitted: 07 February 2016 File Category: First Eagles - Golden Era - Allied Skins This DL contains three multi-layer .pdfs of Gladiator battle damage. Those of you who know your way around a paint program cam make your own TGA damage files for the three Gladiators. I have software problems that prevent me from making TGAs, and - after a year's worth of effort - I am tired of looking at Gladiator files! THIS MODEL IS ONLY TO BE DISTRIBUTED AS FREEWARE AND IN NO OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE SHALL IT BE USED, EVEN IN PART, OF ANYTHING THAT IS PAYWARE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMBAT ACE MODDERS AGREEMENT. Now that the Gladiators are out the door, I've circled back to the CR42. Baffmeister has spent an enormous amount of time developing FMs for the CR42 and Gladiator, both as separate aircraft and together as a kind of "dogfight duo." The goal was to simulate the historical record as closely as possible. Recent research has revealed Gladiators shot down slightly more CR42s than CR42s shot down Gladiators. The slight difference is attributed to better RAF gunnery training and use of radio to coordinate mid-air tactics. Using Baff's latest files, I'm working on an upgrade to the 1940 version of the CR42 plus finishing the bombe alari (bomb wings) versions used later in WW2, but are outside the scope of my 1940 desert war project. 1943-45 night intruder shown below. Cockpit shots of the night intruder in its element.

Gladiator "Holes"

Wrench: thanks for your gracious offer to assist, but LloydNB just contacted me with a "fix." He uses an app that avoids the TGA problem, and will send it to me soon.
