I am making a selection of bombs for the 1940 desert war and Spanish civil war. I can't find much information about 1930s Soviet bombs, needed for Spain. Can you help me out? What colors were Soviet bombs and did they have any ID markings? Thanks.

Great references! Thanks.

Thank you!

The 3-color camo versions have been sent to the testers for evaluation. The aircraft shown are the "pure" early-war version without sand filter or bomb racks. First three shots are of desert markings used in Libya, and the last three shots are of BoB markings used in Belgium. Baffmeister has been especially helpful in developing a new FM for SF2 - looks like it will also work in FE2.

WW2 Screenshots Thread
Geezer replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
If you're referring to the biplane, that's my new CR42. Baffmeister is developing an SF2 version while I finish the 3-color skins. -
Wow! Looking really good Steve.

The future of SF?
Geezer replied to streakeagle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've been following this thread with great interest but, until now, didn't have anything to add to the discussion. I've had experience designing GUIs for big aerospace corporations' software programs and found that guys that are good with "hard" code are frequently not good with "soft" requirements such as graphics or promotion/advertising. Its a right brain/left brain thing - their minds just don't work that way. Stary's comments about the lack luster screen above are a case in point. The screen's appearance probably won't tempt a buyer who is unfamiliar with the virtues of TW products. It ain't fair, but that's how life works. Generally speaking, TK's stuff has always been graphically challenged - roughly 5-10 years behind what might be called the state of the art. Yes, the guys commenting on this thread see past that, but you are talking about attracting NEW sim enthusiasts who don't know what TW guys know. What does such a person see when they almost accidentally stumble across TW? They see graphics that, in some ways, don't even measure up to the IL-2 releases of the mid-oughts. Note that I am not a big fan of IL-2 but, to be clinically accurate, IL-2 has frequently set the visual standard for flight sims. An energetic and well thought out promotion effort could partially compensate for this deficiency: "Look under the hood, and see the essential goodness of the TW system." -
Mark - The heart of a flyable game aircraft is the 3D model and, broadly speaking, there are two "problems" with introducing a 3D model from a different game into First Eagles. First is ethical - a 3D model is the intellectual property of the modeler who created it, so the creator must give permission for the transfer. Second is practical - there are many different 3D model formats, and editions of the same format. Transferring 3D models from one format or edition to another nearly always creates problems, which can take many hours to fix. Sometimes, the amount of time required is such that making a new model from scratch is the better option. Bottom line: transferring a Rise Of Flight 3D model into First Eagles is highly unlikely.

Battle of Britain FM Pack
Geezer replied to baffmeister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Making good progress on the 3-color camo skins and should complete them this weekend. Shot below shows the WIP baseline skins. Top aircraft is the BoB variant (for SF2), lower aircraft is the desert variant (for FE2). The CR42 will be released with a graphics pack of markings that will enable any modder familiar with a paint program, such as Photoshop, to make new hi-res skins, or variants of the baseline skins. -

Because we are both working on 1940 stuff, baffmeister and I have joined forces to produce aircraft that can be used in both the desert and BoB. I'm finishing up the 3-color camo for the CR42 - there will be BoB markings included in the graphics pack. -

If you are willing to do the work, what is needed is finished menus in both sizes. Some of your menus, for example the credits screen, feature an ornate border that is a good stylistic match for the WW1 period. Could you develop menu variants that have a different stylistic "feel"? Something that matches the 1930s? Whether you make a few modifications to your existing menus, or design totally new ones I leave up to you. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
Boy, you got that right! The more I look into making maps, the more I realize how difficult and time consuming it is.
