Irans new Fighter - Qaher 313
Slartibartfast replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
As with the second link I am going with this is a mockup as the damn thing is tiny... I would bet no payload or at the most a very light payload and as to it being an F-5 underneath wouldn't surprise. -
HMS Ark Royal Harrier Launch
Slartibartfast replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Oh that makes you and just about everyone else apart from the bean counters... Problem was that the RAF didn't really like the Harrier too much compared to the Tornado GR-4 and they had the choice axe Tornado's or Harriers and as the RN flew the Harriers as well made sense to them to ditch the Harriers to get all the fixed wing flying back to the RAF!!! And before anyone says I am biased I spent 10 years in RAF Blue... -
I get funny looks in my office as I keep a 12 pound hammer in there just in case...

Slartibartfast replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Try searching under Y-20 as the J-20 is the reporting name for the new Stealth Fighter test flown last year... and here is a video it is in Chinese but it does give you some more details than the headon shot... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDednkHUAUY -

Exp3 News! (no, not really)
Slartibartfast replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have DCS A-10 on my PC but I have not played it apart from testing and general checking out the A-10 and it there is a lot in there that at present I do not have time to figure out the 10 switches for the Maverick etc... or even arming dropping bombs even though I have just had 6 weeks off work... (Spent it playing Stalker Misery and X3 Albion Prelude)... where as SF2 (Running July 2012 patch I think) I can hop in and fly anything I want... there is a difference there one is Sim-lite one is Sim Medium-Heavy if that makes sense and its good to have Sim-Lite for those days when you do not want to get the manual out... -
Problem is the same issue that came up with Eurofighter and Rafale... French want one thing and Everyone else needed something else... and yes I know a very General quote on that one...

Problem is when the Gazelle came out it was to be a scout chopper and it was fairly good at that but that was over 30 years ago... also the kit which is in operation today was for stopping the Soviet Juggernaut if it came over the Fulda gap etc...

Okay with regards the US Military I am not so sure but I think the same rules would apply as the UK in that she would not be accepted for military duty due to her medical conditions. Sometimes the will is there but the body fails... I have seen this happen as a friend of mine it turns out had problems with her lungs which was not picked up until after she had entered into the military but in training it showed up and they cashed her out...

What are the Must Have Mods?
Slartibartfast replied to Azref's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Okay I will advise the following... NATO 5 Operation Desert Storm Vietnam Gold Mod (I think) it makes life over Vietnam a little harder. The Scandinavian Front (TSF) Falklands Mod and lastly but by no means least KOREA !!! and all the mods to addon to it... This will pretty much keep you happy for a long time... Though as a new member it will take you some time to download them all. Failing go for a subscription (reminds me I need to make one)...
