  1. Name The Plane

Hi guys, this is my first post here in a looong time... I need a little help identifying the aircraft type in this picture for my Father-in-Law. it was bought from a junk shop in Penzance, England. TIA guys.
  2. Name The Plane

I'd say you're spot-on, thanks for the help.
  3. Can anyone explain how I can make these aircraft available for air to ground missions?
  4. Su-27/Mig-29 A2G

Thanks for the replies, I've been away from PC gaming for a few years and have fortgotten most of what I knew about .ini editing. I have downloaded the Su30 which fits the requirement well enough for now, at some point I'll edit a MiG-29 for AG.
  5. +1 for Termite Hill. Who remembers Lou Drendel's 'THUD!' I had that and several others by him, sadly they weren't made child-proof :( I too have Vietnam Air War Debrief. Also worth a look by Dorr is 'Air War Hanoi'
  6. Reviewing the Logitech G940

During 15 years of flight simming, I've owned several sticks and HOTAS sets, and this looks like a good quality product from a manufacturer I trust for durability. I've broken the handles of 3 saitek joysticks, dislodged buttons in a cheap plastic Thrustmaster HOTAS and a MS sidewinder FF lost it's FF after 15 months. My gear takes a lot of punishment, as I'm not one of the world's smaller, gentler people I had a Logitech wingman stick for 4 years without a single breakdown though, and only relegated it to the cupboard when I got an X36. Currently I'm using a force transducer modded Cougar and TM Elite rudders, which would benefit from new throttle and rudder pots, a mod that will cost over a hundred pounds for a long-in-the-tooth HOTAS that's starting to look shabby. For the past 5 years I've had an X45 as a stand-by HOTAS but recently donated it to a friend who just got into simming. So I have a need for a spare HOTAS again and the X52 just doesn't float my boat - too bright and shiny, as well as programmer issues previously mentioned. I was looking at a CH set-up but as this new Logitech set will come in at around 200 pounds, I think I'll be adding it to the wishlist instead.
  7. I agree with Sony, since installing the newest patch I had to reduce my settings to medium. The game still rocks though
  8. I have Flaming Cliffs installed, but some of the guys I fly online with won't touch it for fear of the dreaded Starforce. In spite of my attempts to asssure them I have no trouble with it So I'm wondering if it's possible to have LOMAC 1.02 installed as well?
  9. Flightgear

I'm not sure if anyone else here has mentioned it, but some of you might be interested in Flightgear, a free open-source flight simulator. It certainly looks the part, using high-quality models, clickable 3D cockpits, SRTM terrain data and imagery. There's even a working carrier to use, including the elevators Flightgear Home Page
  10. Dual Install Possible?

That works like a charm, thanks ruggbutt
  11. Thread title says it all really, I need to get my Saitek P8000's profiled using Dhauzimmer drivers, but I'm missing this esential bit of software. I'd be grateful if anyone can post a link, or even e-mail me the editor. Thanks in advance!
  12. Jimbud's Hazardscript Editor for Saitek & Dhauzimmer

Thanks Buff, I have hazardscript already, but it's specifically Jimbud's editor that I can't get. The link to it on that page is dead.
  13. Gun damage

The Vulcan has a ROF of approx 1000 rpm. Loosing off 5-10 rounds takes around half a second. If I was able to shoot accurately enough to down an aircraft with a half-second burst I'd be happy with that too
  14. There's a major patch to version 4.08 available which you will need to play it online, and also a beta 4.09 was released yesterday. In terms of mods, IL-2 isn't as open as the TW series, new content only gets added by the developers; Anything else is considered a hack and will get you kicked out of MP games and even some community sites. Except for aircraft skins, there are thousands of skins available.
  15. My favourite trick in online OFP/ArmA & BF2 is taking down aircraft with a well-placed sabot
  16. Lets just say it's way past your bedtime
  17. new guy with real life question

That really puts problems with my joystick profile into perspective
  18. Whats the difference between these two steerpoint navs

Steerpoint times, heading, altitude and distance are all listed on the waypoints page of the knee-board. So no need to keep switching the DED mode unless you need to know how far ahead/behind schedule you are. It's always a good idea to go home if you're out of missiles, unless you can find some transport aircraft to harrass with your cannon. I usually complete the sweep waypoints, engaging anything I find, then query AWACS for the nearest threat; If there's nothing within 50 miles, I go home.
  19. I was going to suggest that, but expected you would have needed to reboot anyway, after updating DX. Glad you got it working! I hope you have a good-sized hard disk for all those downloads and parallel installs
  20. Autopilot isn't very refined in this series. If you engage it at 2000' AGL but your waypoint altitude is 10000', the aircraft will do a max power climb to get to that altitude as quickly as possible, with no regard for fuel or energy management. It will then overtake that altitude, and have to descend again, start accelerating, so the speedbrake will open. This will continue until the AP is able to capture the altitude a couple of hundred feet either way, then the oscillating will gradually smooth itself out. Personally I don't use it, I prefer the wing leveler instead. I fly manually to the waypoint course, then pick my own altitude and engage it once I get up there.
  21. One time, way back when, I had the same problem. I think it worked after I deleted the GMX video file from the SF folder.
  22. Welcome to CA :good: I don't think you need the CD in to play, perhaps try re-installing SF, if you haven't already? I'm not sure this applies to you or not, but I had to update DirectX after the patches to get it working. The DX error usually only shows when you try to start a mission, you're not even getting that far, it seems.
  23. does my hud look straight in falcon 4.0af?

What you're seeing there is the difference between the nose heading and the actual heading due to wind. Select 'Drift C/O' on the ICP to straighten things out. "CTRL+Page Down" is the keystroke. Change it back to 'Norm' when you're on finals for landing.
  24. Not directly - The campaign isn't really affected by individual AI aircraft being present or not. F4 campaigns are statistical wars where your own ability to complete missions successfully, reduces the enemy's ability to hold on to ground. If you fail too many missions, or lose too many aircraft, the enemy has higher morale and increased supply, making winning the campaign easier for them.
  25. For the purposes of loading it to a particular weapons station? It's a BOMB OMG! It's a bomb! Run!!!
