Whether you like it or not, Yubba has put a lot of time & effort into his mods, then also taken the trouble to share his results. Using his radar edits you can emulate a radar bombing system somewhat accurately, although you still need to be accurate with your flight profile.
I don't agree with putting HUD's in 1960's-70's era planes but given the lack of any controllable bombing computer function in this game then a CCIP pipper is the next best thing. If (like me) you use it realistically, i.e. keeping the pipper in the combining glass, even CCIP demands you are disciplined enough to fly a correct dive bombing profile.
But after 15 years of practice I can usually get results using the principles in the SimHQ article, provided I have the luxury of time to set-up properly. Which is pretty realistic, in terms of the best results fighter jocks of the day were getting.

For the Vietnam-era F-111's, low & and fast gets the job done. Try 650 KIAS, 600 ft AGL, drop when the target is in the bottom of the bombsight outer ring .

I can check later when I'm home but I'm sure my UK box set has that extra episode too

Thread resurrection alert!!
I'm having plenty of fun in "The Green Hell" but I can't ignore the fact that SF2's F4E doesn't do this, and I'm now really tempted.
Tacpack has come a long way, there are now many great planes using it's features. There's now SA-2's that can kill you, and you can weasel them back. Sadly still no sign of any AI air combat opponents but I don't go looking for trouble at 20000ft regularly anyway, as I prefer ground-pounding.
And that VRS Superbug is what Jane's F-18 could have become, so I'm probably getting that too.

I am mostly playing "dead" games :
- SF2
-ROF
- XWing Alliance
...
I must be a zombie gamer
I am most definitely a player of older games. SF2, ArmA2 Day-Z, Battlefield2, Falcon4.0 BMS. But they all are far from dead.

I find most bombsights are set too high by default. At ~500ft AGL, 450 knots & release when the target disappears under the nose with a string of bombs should get you on target.
That's still one of the best mods ever for the Thud, Yubba. Cue the trolling "It's not realistic" replies...

I thought it might be a Windows update issue, having lots more CTD's with SF2 now and I'm still on Radeon 15.something on account of my card being so old (HD5800). I'm actually doing a fresh install of SF2 at the moment. It took a lot of effort to click 'delete' on my NF5

During a recent sortie over Basra, I got target-fixated and fragged myself with a CBU-58. Apart from the visible damage, I lost the autopilot so had to limp 140 miles back to KK! I think owe the Crew Chief a case of beer

It's not a huge amount of money and you do get a lot of content, also the flight models are very different from LOMAC. I'd say it's worth a punt.

The cuppa Joe completes it!
I wonder what the G-limit is on that ;)

Yes, the top of this thread. It wasn't working previously. I see you've updated the file again and now the link works. I am a happy mudhen driver

Thanks Viper, I have been able to download V1.1 from the downloads section, however, the link in this thread's original post still doesn't work.

Download linky not worky...

I know the feeling, I'm moving to a SSD soon, my main HDD is 4 years old now. Take your time, I have on-going campaigns in several installs.

A little update for this thread: My campaign as a strike-eagle pilot ended on the second day, going gunzo with AAA I got shot in the face. I resurrected myself as a Marine Hornet pilot. The date in the campaign is now March 3rd and there are still missions being tasked. The polar opposite to my problem I had using the Tornado. I still have no successfully completed campaigns in my pilot record
How far off is the updated version, Eburger?

The layout seems logical, where the 'top-shelf' is guaranteed to blow your head off, then becoming less dangerous as you look lower down

You should make the effort to visit Cosford, the cold war display is definitely worth the visit.
-
Might this be an 'aircraft in-service' year issue?
-
No problem, I've already started a new campaign, this time flying the F15E. I still consider that I've won the Tornado campaign though, and I'd like to edit my pilot record to reflect this. Where do I find the filed I need to edit?
-
I just started this mission and ended it as soon as I entered the gameworld, and the game still hangs

What, they have no guns, but how can they defend against drone piloting neighbours and unarmed black people ? Shows how uncivilized and backward they are.
It's possible to own shotguns and rifles. Handguns were banned about 20 years ago, but there are still plenty about, if you know the right(wrong) people.
Of course, this being the UK, if you let your legally owned gun off in your back yard and damage said drone that's watching you sunbathe naked, you go to jail, all your guns are confiscated and you have to compensate the drone's pilot for the damage...
I'd like to challenge the Author to eat a Yorkshire Pudding and see if he thinks that's a dessert

Yes there's definitely a ground offensive going on, the SEAD tasking I was given was over an airbase at the Saudi/Iraq border. Once I had completed my assigned mission, I spotted a few T72's around a nearby army base and was about to drop iron on their heads when they got taken out by friendly tanks.

Oh my framerate!!
Great work ravenclaw_007. You're clearly a perfectionist, so... Check the spelling in the Mk.82_AIR stenciling on the bomb itself. Not that it would lessen the effect of dropping them on any Gomer's heads, but now I can't un-see it![:ok:](https://combatace.com/uploads/emoticons/default_ok.gif)
