  1. saw one over Grafenwhoer once, although not as many Brit planes operating in Germany at the turn of the century. also happened to be outside when one burned in on takeoff at Kandahar (pilots punched out, saw his buddy take off then heard something off and saw two chutes very shortly after.) time moves on, but till depressing to see how many planes I grew up watching and observed (or flew on) after joining the Army are now retired. F-4s over DC. Tomcats, Skyhawks, Starlifter, Jaguars, Mirage F-1s. I remember seeing the "new" VC-25Bs, and now they are due for replacement too!
  2. legally implies getting it anywhere other than where you got it from. cant speak to your system, but just updated Win10 on my system this week and Crusaders are still present in untouched installs. had to double check as i pulled them and some others from my usual installs for a smaller dropdown list
  3. found the proper J57exhaust! two symbols of an era long gone (that smoky J57 and Eastern Airlines. the tanker will still be truckin a few more decades)
  4. 80s tankers done soon. bulk of unit work is done just gotta tighten up a few things. i expect cards. after all, i cared enough to send the very best
  5. well, you don't. that's the nature of a crash. however; jotting as many parameters as you can prior to pressing "fly" will help pinpoint, and allow you to select things to see what is going wonky
  6. a general bit of advice for you two, as well as all others that do campaign/mission modding would be to jot down features of a mission prior to testing. i dont mean this for fun flights, but rather those in which you are checking out features youve created. this should help pinpoint issues what type of install; what type of mission; aircraft; type of targets; number of targets; what is the target area; noting this info when testing and seeing what is different when it does or doesnt crash can help pinpoint the issue yes, i know its QA/bug hunting 101, but a reminder couldnt hurt
  7. so with all the talk about top gun 2, and my continuing work on tankers, i thought why not combine the two? (evidently the brown stain in the tower officers uniform popped up elsewhere in the sequel)
  8. true and posts get screenshots. hence the phrase mandatory screenshot
  9. Top Gun Maverick

    or a Reservist.
  10. you went to contribute in a fashion that you could. it went south, as things do from time to time. no worries and hopefully it gets back running again
  11. because TK (the original developer you bought the series from) hasnt done so much as a patch or said so much as a peep about PC development. one could hope for a suprise, but after 5 years dont hope too hard all forward progress on this series has been from the modders for the last half decade. while there is much great work out there, we are a bit fragmented and preoccupied with our own lives to get a community SF3 rolling. Shoot major campaigns and aircraft are stop and go, let alone the whole series revamped mandatory screenie
  12. What, you sayin SF2 is dust in the wind? i just happen to like this one
  13. well Wrench for the win on understanding what i was saying and confirming some experiment results. Blade, the lst is too easy to fix. renumbering the individual tgas are a little more time consuming tho i have a method down. Sundowner, doing something very similar overall. E model get user nums 00-12 in '82, then user nums 13-24 in '83. however A models lose the same nums in each year. would just take em off the front end in the textureset, except Arkansas gums the works up being a user for only two years. So THEY got first two slots, to only be called out during the appropriate years. everyone else adds on (in the E model anyhow) over the years. Its gonna be huge due to representing around 40 units at two planes apiece. I was trying to make it not as huge. Oh well, one could have hoped. Thanks for the replies all!
  14. probably know the answer but its a definite no if not asked... is it possible to reverse the order of serial number decals? as in going 33-00 rather than 00-33? asking as a project will cover both the E models from introduction and A models as they were retired. using same serials (rebuilds) to save space and time, it would save even more if i didnt have to duplicate the folder and manually reverse it. thanks in advance for any help
  15. Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration don't fail us now The new Oldsmobiles are in early this year
  16. shoot that thing needs a complete make over. nice tga, but the skin looks like its sat in the desert for a few years mandatory screenie
  17. Sunday morning on the flight line
  18. Does the USAF have a waiting list?

as answered on Quora: Yes. Due to airframe and pilot availability, there is now a 2 week waiting list to be bombed. Please be patient, continue to do the atrocious things that have earned you the benefit of the most vigorous air campaign delivery service in history, and we will be with you in the order you popped up in the news cycle. Gold star members in the nuclear club will continue to recieve priority service with delivery in 30 minutes or less.
  19. as the above post says. Download section claims there is nothing there yet
  20. posting to bugs for Erik, it is indeed not showing
  21. Does the USAF have a waiting list?

    Huh?
  22. cool! I didnt think the colors would correspond that close to Federal Standard colors. this site should help in converting from FS to hex or RGB http://encycolorpedia.com/
  23. some how i dont think the Islamic Republic is either giving that info to the aviation mags nor using the exact same paint specs as the US made in the 70s. not the values themselves, but when a color isnt clearly defined (as it is on a US mil camo) i use the color picker tool in Gimp. from there you could draw the rgb or hex values, or use the scaler to get it where you want
  24. Alan Bean passes away at 86

https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/family-release-regarding-the-passing-of-apollo-skylab-astronaut-alan-bean Fourth on the moon, Naval test pilot and part of the Skylab program. Also an artist after leaving NASA with many paintings of lunar scenes
  25. Does the USAF have a waiting list?

well, that should be sufficient if the Kuznetsov passes through the Baltic. rather suprised the bear hasnt figured out to play with the valve control gas flow to Europe rather than play with the sabre tho
