going thru the mod itself, equipment lists on wiki, and the download section. about everything in the mod could use at least some small improvement (smallest thought of being the F-16As and A-10s with some nosearts and historical serial numbs attached). some items could use a complete replacement (Hercs, use dels new ones) and some need some overhauling (Ravens, Stratotankers, RF-4C, B-52G). A good chunk could also be pulled out as unnecessary (looking up Marine tanker Hercs, only think one version was involved as example. ALL the weapons and skins and decals from post 92 as another). so far i'm still on aircraft, getting to ships and ground vehicles this week. theres alot on our in house shelves already. the big trick would be incorporating it into the campaigns, not so much creating the aircraft or ground objects that said, there is quite a bit of gold in the download section that can save some time. Im working on going thru units and equipment and matching to whats stock(not much), whats in mod already(alot but not all that could be) and whats available on site vs known WIP or not available at all. thank you menvra for volunteering on the campaign inis. something to look up might be viper63s update pack, which has some of edits already. i dont know if it could help or not, but its there although i would want the US Army to become a seperate nation and campaign in this. dunno why... final note, will get a pm going in around another week for everyone that's expressed interest in working on this. got a few other useful files to share that may help in getting some closer historical accuracy going. -

i think the blender route might be better. while the max users would need to relearn the wheel, new users would pick up quicker and not everyone can afford max or get the student editions. Blender iirc is free in its basic form. back to the new users, it would get some young blood (figurately speaking) going in the community in my opinion. while the work might not be the greatest at first, the 3d modeler population isnt even holding steady at the moment. -

that is exactly my intent, the only from scratch thing being the campaign inis to incorporate all of the new stuff and Menvra's terrain thank you for the initial show of support for this everyone. for GP info, am wrapping up something for RL this week, plus my 19th anniversary tomorrow. once the RL project is done on Wednesday, will be going thru ODS, the download sections and the WIP threads. the intent is to see what we have, what we need, whats available in house, and what needs to be done. keep the ideas coming and WIP suggestions coming, i just might not get to them til the weekend. -

that is likely the group your looking for. however i'm aiming to have a longer lead time to allow for real life things and other projects, so if youre looking for a new release please be patient. if your looking for a way to get in the modding action, welcome! what would your interest and talent be? -
KC-135 Skin Pack 1: Operation Desert Storm
daddyairplanes commented on daddyairplanes's file in Other
Because of the mix of ADC light gray birds with full color markings, and the baby Shamu (or dark grey) birds in subdued tactical markings, i have the Shamu placed in as tga, and it shows up on the numbers that start with an s( for shamu). a is for ADC grey. sorry, should have mentioned that in the readme -

This skinpack adds in historical aircraft as used in Desert Storm for the A, E and R models KC-135. It is as close as possible with unit markings and features several nose arts. Included Skins and decals for KC-135A/E/R models Cockpit and ini edits to make player flyable Required you will need the original KC-135 pack available here Installation download and install the above mod per its instructions unzip this mod, then install new mod folder categories to your mod folder (Aircraft to aircraft etc) allow overwrites fire up game, take off and go pass gas KNOWN ISSUES This was originally an AI only aircraft. I added Dels C-130 pit so that it was flyable and I could check my work. That said, it is best to not fly from the cockpit as the Hercules' window frames don't match with the Stratotanker's windows. UNIQUE FEATURES As with most of my large aircraft mods, the skins are tga based. this means if you look for a Baby Shamu skin, you will only see a plain grey skin. When you fire it up in game, you will see a mix of ADC Grey and Baby Shamu. @Menrva i cant see why they wouldnt be more readily available now that that is a part of Iraq's history rather than a state secret @angelp if you could get those up, that would be awesome not just for ODS but overall. onlything missing from a MAW right iirc IS the Seaknight and UH-1N, and as a retired soldier i wouldn't have any problem seeing Blackhawk freely available in game. if the mapping is still fairly the same the Twin Huey i still have the 3 tone skin from a while back. only question with those H-60s shown is do you have an Army model (tail wheel near the very back) as well? Naval would be good too, but as i mentioned, US Army (Ret) @guuruu that would be great, though admittedly as a yank i had to think for a moment to realise a Tonka was a Tornado! -

he's alive and talking, was the first one i talked to about this project in pm. he's given the blessing to workin on an update, but assistance will probably be limited to advice about the original. he has done A LOT with user made campaigns, but without details (cuase they werent in the conversation) i think he's not looking to do the workload to update things once again (my conjecture, not his words) and yes i was hoping we could use your terrain, although i personally dont know how much work we'll need to do to update the campaign itself to reflect the new reality on teh ground (pun intended). thank you for volunteering! -

daddyairplanes replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
first, mue HUGE thanks for your efforts. you sir may be one of the most important modders of the community with not a plane nor campaign release! that said, a note to everyone reading: it will be very helpful if the knowledgeable people can create a tutorial for making a 3d object once the kinks are worked out. doesnt have to be a plane, say make a box with lid. that way, animations (if mue gets them to work), adding materials and all other related materials are covered. yes i know it could be a big request It will NOT end the endless "how do i" questions. it WILL provide a learning tool for those that do diligent research and be an end point for the how do i threads (yes i know i've been pointed tot hte KB many times myself over the years) i look forward to seeing the final polished product, and really hope i can contribute whole aircraft rather than skinsets for already done birds. but i personally want to put out a decent product, and admit i would need pointers on what the 3d guys have practice for years just a couple pennies on the matter -

well, 5 years since last patch i think the binary file warning would be null and void. of course watch the community get something going then he releases a new patch! this folks, highlights why i've not subscribed to the "this series is dead" line of thought. we all keep talking like this and it could shape up to be an interesting year in CA land -

reworking the 707 skin, trying to make a bare metal skin and did a check in the lod viewer for gp... did not expect to be making teh see thru model! in fairness, Ive blanked out the El Al skin, it's bmp rather than jpeg, and the blanked area getting metal plating is all white. also revolving it shows the metal portions are coming in. it was just wierd to see it clear rather than white! -
