Chaff on Navy F-4 but not USAF models?
daddyairplanes replied to dtmdragon's topic in Military and General Aviation
Mostly institutional. Navy tends towards internal systems, USAF hangs protection off the pylons. Both wound up putting on the inboard pylons though Navy went first -
70 years ago: Day 1 of the Nuclear Age
daddyairplanes replied to Capitaine Vengeur's topic in The Pub
We know the effects of nuclear weapons today. Who knew those effects back in the summer of 1945? Some of the plans for Downfall included nukes on the beachheads 90 mins prior to US troops wading ashore. We can look back in 2015 and ssy how horrible. But from 1945 through the early 50s nukes were just another tool too be used. Edit tablet did a quadruple post -

With mention of the Nazis one should keep in mind the bomb was developed for use against Germany. If the Luft 46 folks had their way we would be talking about Munich or Nurnberg instead. Hitlers decision to eat a bullet and his successors decision to pack it in are what got Japan the title of only country to have been nuked. -

Purple Hearts macelena. They are awarded for being wounded (or killed) in combat and yes the current batch derives from preparation for the invasion of Japan. IIRC theres someting like 100000 left in that batch -

Give me a bit to see how many users. Still have a few other projects on plate plus RL.Would be good for ODS as well as Europe. Might wanna look into ability to fit SNEB pods for RAF in tge Falklands. For arabic, i think those are numbers. Should be in SF2I iirc -
Anyone tried StrikeFighters 2 with Windows 10?
daddyairplanes replied to Viper63a's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It worked ok with the Tech Preview, although i had that on a lower spec'd system. Stands to reason it will work ok with full fledged 10. Will be updating a laptop and desktop in a couple of days so can tell ya more then -

Airport: a proposal..
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
who would like to see if we can get dual airport/airfields into SF2? i do not have the modelling capability, but would be willing to ini dance the parking areas to put airliners into place next to the gates. the overall concept is to have a civilian side with gates and parked airliners, and a military side with transports or even fighters. first would be a fictional Dhimari airport to show this beast works (or doesnt). if that works several other airports would be opened up for conversion (Keflavik, RheinMain/Frankfurt to name two) and imaging the eye candy of taking off and several airliners in the background oh and as for different airliners, my DC-10 mod features one metal skin with the airlines replacing serial numbers (DecalLevel=2). reworking it for around 15 airlines each 70's 80's and 90's. and will have the 767 similarly converted by end of Aug or Sep barring bad juju IRL. Who thinks this is a good enough idea bring it to life? -

daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Coupi, i've made an Airliner nation already. its in the DC-10 mod and will be in any future airliners (767, 737 when Veltro finishes and 747 as can get up to Gen 2 standards) -

Problem adding custom nation and squadron to TSF OMS campaign
daddyairplanes replied to shomu1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
you would have to make new ones, and with the call signs you would also have to make new soundfiles to get them to call out the same thing as on the screen. markings are the easiest fix, just plant new ones in the decal folder, call em out in the ini and set to DecalLevel=0. not pretty or the usual route but it will get them in there -
Squadron Markings By Year
daddyairplanes replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
what i did in the F-4N pack (and upcoming S pack) is a universal skin per aircraft year (ie TPS for F-4S_84). then inside each units skin folder i only have the decal, numberlist, and textureset inis. as said above different units get different skins based on when skin changed (ie VF-301_82, _84 etc). final part of the trick was that the decal folder was simply broken by year for unit markings and numbers for Modex and Buno (white, black, grey, shadowed etc) takes time to set up initially but allows a viable all users pack to be created and used. or even an all years for one specific unit. also for any special skins within an aircraft year (like the 75th anniversary schemes during the time of TPS) the special skin can still be dropped into the particular skin and all others will reference the universal -

daddyairplanes replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Was working on decals for that fleet some time back. Might dust em off when i get back, esp as my ini dancing is a bit bettercthan then and mues viewer ends the need to constantly ask meshnames -
Not upgrading my main Win7 system, but have a rebuilt desktop and older laptop running the tech preview. Unlike Win8 will have no problem getting a new comp with Win10 when i'm in the market for one again. Reason for not upgrading is cause I like it how it is and when it's not my main comp any more it will stay a dedicsted SF2 rig. Raven my understanding is a basic user will be free. All the add on will be subscription or part of the more advanced versions, Premium Enterprise etc

Does anyone know how to animate the tailhook on the TW F-15A
daddyairplanes replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
My two cents, Crusader squadrons would be a better fit for Seagles. Esp a VF -194 carrying the Ferris zig zag scheme over from the last Phantom cruise -

daddyairplanes replied to angelp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
for the exploding, match the landing gear shock and radius values to the AT-6B here on site. not entirely certain it will fix but the landing gears are a start for that problem and the AT-6B will be similar to yours realworld and is functional in TW world.
