Start and End years in SF2 NA
daddyairplanes replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Extract the (terrainName) ini and adjust the year, also edit in the main options folder. Never can remember which exactly in the main otion ini so i adjust all start and end entries and hasnt messed me up yet. Quite sure some one wil chime in with which specific in the option ini tho. That should hook you up Remember to do both. Nasty suprise for me the other day when i realized i hadnt adjusted NA and was trying to figure out why in servife dates were screwy. Had adjusted everywhere else, but not Iceland. -
Add nations
daddyairplanes replied to Del2i's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
GP advice Study the stock entries. It sounds like you wsnt to make yugo war nations which is cool, but study and copy where needed Make several blank nation entries between the last stock and what you add. IF.........if tk ever patches again, it will save time adjusting your ini against the new stock. (Old heads, yes i know how that goes. But never assume he's done. Assumption is the mother of all fu kups...) What ever you are doing for that nation, make a generic skin, say on a F-104 or Mig-21, calling that nation and unit. You will also likely have to make a national insignia for them. It does not always seem to show in game w/o this Have not done nations often myself, just tweeked US Army and Dhimari Naval Aviation for long forgotten projects. But the blanks are fitmly a part of my squadronlist.ini as alot of work on that was when tk was patching every few months. And there is much to help in the stock stuff, just take time to read and figure out what its doing -
Common pool of BuNos and Fighternums... how does it work?
daddyairplanes replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Think like this..... average squadron has 12 to 24 aircraft on hand, closer to twelve for a Navy fighter squadron. What that 2 level in the decal ini is really calling is the Modex, the buno is extra. Since TK was working AF and Navy/Marine units it was easier for him just to say blocks of 25. Go figure when you multiply the number of unique fighters time individual skins per fighter....... Two ways you can go about the BuNo issue are hyper detail like mytai, and each skin has the historical numbers innits own folder. Better accuracy and less buno per folder, but times that by how many folders(units) youre making. His Phantom pack is 13GB unzipped and still doesnt have everyone in it. My route was about 115 historical buno(100 plus mig killers thst were later lost) in one main folder. Not quite as accurate as its not likely to match what was in a squadron at a given time, but still closer to reality than stock. I also used a universal skin where possible, and just adjusted the decal ini in individual dkin folders, mainly to pull from a certain year folder for unit markings (77,78, etc) and pointing to a 1xx or 2xx folder for modex (as fighter squadrons are normally in the 100 or 200 range) Hopefully this is helpful. Either way its my $0.02 in the conversation -

District of Columbia ANG F-4M's
daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I have the D for sure in a Phantom skins pack released a few years ago, and possibly a Thud in the ANG/Reserve pack i released tho not100% on that. There is also a F-100 ANG set by Wrench that may have DC in it. At Spinners, i'll take it you jimmied your own tail? The strip cutting the ANG badge looks familiar, but i didnt shadow the DC. looks damn nice tho! -

Ok rivet time. Is this to cover for lack of in house twin engine versions? And what of sorcery without templates? When the elderberries in question are old (and before we had mue's viewer) you could see sone really funky colors -

after a quick look of my own, most NA aircraft don't seem to load, P-51 shows green but all other SF2I are good to go, third party is just fine and the F-84 oddly shows silver just fine but not most of the camo schemes -

RAF Phantom F.3's
daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Know how most worked. Lemme know how you got the wingtips lights removed as that stopped a RF-4B project some time ago. But i know someone else that could benefit from that knowledge. When last i worked it the tail and fuselage dissapeared fine but wing tpis left a hole... -

RAF Phantom F.3's
daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
what S is that? its got the slats but no slimers or DECM which are bigger hallmarks of the S than the slats (1st 48 were delivered w/o slats then retrofitted later) not nitpicking, curious as the only S models i knew of had the slimers and decm nitpicking is to say that the RAF never actually called it the F.3 but rather F-4S(UK). even kept the american kit to expedite service entry
