Oldie - Questions :-)
daddyairplanes replied to AJAY67's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
as to question 2... the available weapons are based on what aircraft you pick selecting the mission, not what aircraft you select in the loadout menu. since Thuds didnt carry Sparrows, Phantoms selected in the loadout menu afterwards would not have them available. if your gonna mix and match like that pick the Phantom first, then incorporate Thuds. the Phantom carried a wider variety of ordinance although you wont have Thud tanks (as Phantoms didnt carry those!) -

RC-135 Anyone?
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
IIRC, the KC-135E was the only one to use thrust reversers AND used only by the Guard and Reserves. the reason being was many of those pilots also held full time airline jobs and needed minimal training in use of the reversers. not sure if the R's have reversers but know that the A never had them. -

daddyairplanes replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
person on the alarm must have just as as sleepy as back then. course i had the fun of going to the Brit dfac same time as one landed a block from my company. the alarm didn't go off until 45 minutes after impact, while me and my joes were still in the brits ao. ask them whats up and they say "f ck if i know mate" and keeps walking. had to deal with a highly pissed 1SG when we got back to our mods. in our defense we really didn't hear it go off...... point 1 that is why i had a roshan phone for most of 2009.. point 2 make any game that detailed and holy shite!!!!! -

starting in the late 70s Lockheed and the USAF rebuilt 270 C-141A Starlifters to correct the issue of the aircraft bulking out on cargo before they reached max take off weight............... -

Mirage Factory F-4J Phantom II

my big folder of pics is at home, will send it to you tonight. as i have been able to tell, the white came out around 78-79. the Marines were generally the last to update schemes, but Navy worked to reduce visual signature. around 1980, a low viz grey scheme came out and then the TPS in 81-82, though only two squadrons flew the J in that. yes most pics are from the nam era. wait till you get this folder. broken down by unit, most labeled by year. gathered over the course of a years worth of google image hunting -

RAF Tigers
daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Maybe maybe not. Definately not in that scheme initially, and one of the missions of Canada CF-5 force was strategic reserve for Norways NF-5 fleet. But stans to reason if fighter command took a beating the agressor force could have been sent to replenish. That or more F-4Js from the boneyard.... -

nice. however if your aim is post 1974, you need the DECM antenea on the intakes. found more commonly in photos on the S, that probably is because most J photos that get attn are Vietnam era shots. but the J continued to fly with the Navy until around 82(VF74 and -103 phinal users) and Marines for two years past that (IIRC VMFA-115, did a Forrestal dep in 83 while another squadron was converting to Toms) might also want to talk to Sundowner, i know he has one and i was working a skin pack (Similar to my F-4N pack) for it but thats not even on a burner right this second
