Calling Marcfighters part 2
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
for those that have been following, i have reskinned the KC-10s from the ODS mod for the other two USAF schemes and the Dutch KDC-10s. i have also ini editted the boom off to make a DC-10 airliner. i am prepared to release the tanker (still much skin/tga work for the airliner) but want to try to get marcfighters OK before releasing. i will also post on his FB wall, but anyone that can get ahold of him it would be appreciated. i figure i will give one week for a reply (or a moderators yes or no) and then release if no response. -

ThirdWire DLC - Advice?
daddyairplanes replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The F-4N is a must. AI packs are good too. As for the rest, me thinks there is better here on site, BUT..... get the DLCs that interest you to support TW. Its why i got the F-4 skinpacks, even though i like Sundowners better -

This is an updated skinpack to reflect all USAF users of the SLUF after the bicentennial. Every unit tactical unit is included, as well as the 4450th TG that was a cover for the F-117A's at Tonopah. Most every scheme by every unit is in here; BUT for some units that had different tail stripes for different flights rather than squadrons(i.e Puerto Rico), i picked one color and went with that. INSTALLATION open the main folder, copy and paste into the mod folder of your choice and allow overwrites INCLUDED -4 diferent A-7D aircraft with one of the different paint schemes as a universal skin. changes were limited to making 4 aircraft from 2, and adjusting the data.ini for the new droptanks (A-7D_78TMF, A-7D80TMF, A-7D84TMF, A-7D_87TMF) -1 A-7K with 4 different skins. droptanks for this are set for green as that is when the bulk of these aircraft served was the SEA Wrap and Euro 1 era. -3 sets of droptanks to work with the different A-7D models - comprhensive decal set including 95 D model serials, 28 K model serials, and markings for all units that flew in the paint schemes represented - my expanded squadronlist.ini. helps to keep the tga's in order References Color and Markings #19: A-7 Corsair in USAF Service Google Images Thanks to / Credits The Mirage Factory for the original aircraft. macelena and Slartibartfast, whiteknight0664 and Muesli for checking this dummies work for errors Dave, point man for permissions on TMF works the greater CA community, for putting up with my dumb questions TK, for the game itself i hope you enjoy this little mod i put together Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes -

Historical F-4B/J BuNos
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Historical F-4B/J BuNos File Submitter: daddyairplanes File Submitted: 16 April 2014 File Category: F-4 BuNo/ Serial Number mod for Stock F-4B and F-4Js This is a mod to add historical BuNos to the stock Phantoms. when researching Bunos for other Phantom models, i got the numbers for the B and J models first then took one hundred that survived to be retired as N or S models and did not crash with fatalities. this mod features the B and J numbers i started with,as well as the BuNos for the mig killers. I also adjusted data ini for smokier engines. ALL numbers after 099 are historical MiG killers, with a few that were already in the ones i had previously completed Installation: open the main folder, then the Stock folder. add the 3 folders inside to the mod folder of your choice, allowing overwrites and merges. if you have the USN/USMC DLC skinpack (DLC18) then open the DLC folder and follow the same directions above. Included: over 100 Buno's with 4 digit big and full Buno small for the F-4B and J adjusted decal ini's for all relevant skins spillone104s J79 effects and data.ini conversion to put them to use loading screens for each type ***************IMPORTANT NOTICE******************IMPORTANT NOTICE************************************************************************************ This pack focuses on the gull gray over white and overall gull gray schemes. The Marines gave up the last B's in 1978, and the J's were retired around 1983. It was the N's and S's that wore most of the camo schemes and so i did not add any other color numbers than black. anyone wanting different colors is welcome to PM me for a tutorial on how to change decals in GIMP. this is again intended for the stock skins, not a major rework of the skins/decals *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** CREDITS TK for the overall game Spillone104 for the J79 exhaust effect macelena, Slartibartfast, Muesli and whiteknight0664 and for being my crash test volunteers in checking this thing hope you enjoy this little mod Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes Click here to download this file -

Germany terrain rework (Wip)

DEAR GOD. we are really rivet counting tree species!?!?!?!?!?!?! -
why yes. yes you are... as to the whole thing, i mentioned in my history class on the topic of nukes is its funny how this administration (and yes others too) get awfully righteous against countries that cant do much back to us on our soil. where this administration messes up at is its dealings with Russia, which it subscribes to the fantasy of it being a third world nation now. there are many things wrong with that country and its military. but it still, just like the US possesses enough nukes on its own to kill most of humanity. like i summed up to the class, you can have two folks in the neighborhood: one rich and one poor. but if they both have shotguns and are argueing, both are on kinda equal grounds and everyone else around is likely to catch alot of buckshot if the shooting starts.

well there's enough beer in the screenie thread to get the cheesy vids out......

Slatted Phantoms in naval service
daddyairplanes replied to macelena's topic in Military and General Aviation
the S didnt handle as well around the boat as the N did, esp on the Midways. thats why they only served on the Forrestal, Midway and Coral Sea. as it was, the Navy was trying to get the Tomcat into service before BEELINE came about, only really extended the life of the J Phantoms due to Carter era budget restrictions. i wonder if the slats were a Marine idea, as they used them the most (finallly retired in 92) -
hopefully the four in critical pull through. also hopefully the jackass gets charged as an adult.......

F-15C Pilot Legs Hanging From Bottom Of Plane
daddyairplanes replied to Chutedangle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yes, instruct your pilot on proper procedure for entering the cockpit. oooor check your Pilots folder to see if you have a fakepilot object in there. haven't used the C model as its at the outer edge of my preferred era of flying in a while, but i do believe that is the issue -
Post-War P-38
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
what info do you have on them serving post war? most i could find was some french and Italian into the 50's. defineatly couldn't find anything about ANG usage.. mark em up rather than generic and hell ya i'm interested -
by the same timescale Win7 will be good until the early 2020s. hell, you can still get it preloaded depending on the manufacturer.

def a mental health issue, not even a go to war issue. this guy is gonna be the freakin poster child for the "dangerous veteran after multiple deployments." most of us with multiple tours dont want to kill ourselves and sure as hell dont want to kill alot of others. if the news is correct this jackass spent four months in Iraq. at the end. with no combat. a nut job yes, dangerous vet only in the loosest definition of the term. as for the Swiss and the Finns, i figured it was cause one group was filthy rich and the other too drunk to aim........

coloring is giving me a conniption....... -
according to the news he was being evaluated for PTSD and TBI. however he was in Iraq for 4 months at the tag end, and was not listed as having been wounded. yes macelena, we have lost more to their own hand than to action. at it seems to me that most that have seen action, while having a hard time are less likely to off them selves than those that haven't gone at all.

remember an article in an old Air & Space magazine about GIs in the Pacific who would load the ammo trays of P-47s up with bottles to chil them. near the end of the article, the author said they wondered what would happen if a Jap fighter ever showed while on a beer run......

Swiss Hunters DLC?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
your skin work is far better than mine sir. i was just pointing out that by the time you're done i will have every tactical unit that flew F-4Ns and Ss covered via tga. but when they are ready i wouldnt mind taking a crack at them an ini dancing the decals from TMF and TW locations to new spots on yours. or if you'd rather have marking on skin, i can shoot you the tga and you can apply as a layer like in your E models. i just happen to like the decal route like a couple of other modders here -

Swiss Hunters DLC?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
well let me know if your interested. my N skinpack is set up for every tactical unit that flew it (only ones like VX-4 missing) and i am working the same for the S right now, tho thats is abit slower due to getting off on side tangents like the tankers. still very likely done before the summer at latest. as for the J, have plans on that to do post Vietnam, which is my area of interest. would be in the same vein, but there would be alot of Vietnam timeframe to work on. would need to redo the decal.ini s but otherwise could save alot of space and time just making universal skins and adding the decals. -
Skin request MiG-21 Luftwaffe
daddyairplanes replied to dast24's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
fake pilot anyone? and keep it simple to keep cost down. they would have had alot of 23mm ammo from the other types retired, keeping 24 fighters out of 251 delivered (and say for sake of arguement 140+ on hand at reunification) you can get engines for parts and overhaul. avionics and weapons would be needed to bring into NATO, but linking with GCA or even better the AWACS would be more like the previous system, overall cheaper in equipment and training and have a "low emmission" intercept system than putting in a new radar that need to be guided by GCA into the area anyhow.
