Syrian helicopter shot down by Turkish jets
daddyairplanes replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Military and General Aviation
bingo. most Turks i've met don't take verbal slights well, let alone something like the shootdown of a military jet. hopefully debt paid, syrian govt stays the hell away from the Turkish border now. (on a less serious note, never go into a doner kebab shop and ask for a gyro. it dont end well for the one asking.....) -
ThirdWire Android/iOS ... more of it...
daddyairplanes replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
of the 3, SFA Isreal is the most fun. prop on prop/early jet action. the original still has my interest as i am trying to get to level 76 and the Raptor. Attack is ok, but the planes seem much too sluggish near the ground in comparison to the other two (fly the Falcon in all three and see what i mean) and it is a pain in the butt racking up points 50 at a clip. plus (final gripe) can anyone explain to me why those convoys have better IADS than Hanoi or Bagdad?!?!?!? now a merge of the 3 would be very interesting if the AD troops are pared back just a bit..... -

daddyairplanes replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
thanks all for the advice. given a few of my desired choices for projects do currently exist at that other site, do expect many public posts when i do start!! that will be a bit tho, given the workload for school. not too long i hope as i am transferring to Wake Tech next year to get back into my Sim and Game Design degree. my current school dropped that and i am just finishing up Gen Ed while waiting to afford the commute. -

My next round of Sea Service Phantoms
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Ok in reply Antares, i'm a skinner/decaller right now. No model improvements sorry Icarus, crabs are abit more accurate but much of the work i have is already done for TMFs. Nothing against him i just got the ball rolling that way already Do335, Tk released the N after i started eorking on STORMs N. I expect a S from him when halfway done with this! When ravenclaw releases naval Phantoms, i will likely set up a blank skin for the so it will work with them. and Blackbird, I am making both. But each will have (early estimate) over 75 unit and time specific skin like my N skinpack.also different time range as J will go from 74 to83 and S will go from 78 to 92. One at a time for sure, just debsting which to do first and putting it to vote to help me decide. But both will be out. In a long two weeks. -

daddyairplanes replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
He should still release new DLC's to keep his revenue stream going tho. just kept at current patch levels (although i'm stayin at May 13 for now). really who here wouldn't snap up player flyable A-6, F-104 or F-16A (USAF and NATO)? -

Upgrade Pack for STORMs F-4N
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: Upgrade Pack for STORMs F-4N File Submitter: daddyairplanes File Submitted: 06 September 2013 File Category: F-4 UPDATE FOR STORM'S F-4N PHANTOM 2 ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** ** NOTE: THIS IS FOR USERS WHO DO NOT HAVE THE THIRDWIRE DLC F-4N. IF YOU HAVE THAT DLC THEN DOWNLOAD THIS FILE ** ** ** ** THIS MOD, DUE TO THE USE OF THE F-4B_67 LODS, DOES NOT HAVE SLATTED STABS OR DROOPING AILERONS. AGAIN, IF YOU HAVE THE DLC, ** ** USE THE ABOVE FILE INSTEAD!!!! ** ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** This is an update for the F-4B_67 based F-4N by CA's own STORM. I have added DECM markings and several skins for Gull Grey over White and the Overall Gull Grey paint schemes. I started this project on STORMs N, then completed a version on the DLC N. This brings the work back to its starting area. That said if you have the DLC N i suggest getting that enhancement mod. But if you did not buy it or prefer this one, I've looked out for you too. Included - Renamed STORMs aircraft "F-4N Phantom II (STORM) to avoid confusion the DLC mod. Esp important for me as i did in fact have both!!!! - Added F-4N (80_Storm) aircraft for Overall Gull Gray and Low Viz Gray skins. - unit specific skins for all N Phlyers from 1974 until about 1982. - DECM antenea for the intakes, added via fakepilot method - the latest squadronlist.ini. Requirements Need SF2 Vietnam for the F-4B_67 lods Installation unzip, add folders to mod folder, allow merge and overwrite if needed Credits *STORM for the original mod *mppd for the DECM fairings *Thanks to Sundowner for his templates. With a Sundowner template, you have to work hard to screw up a skin!!!!! *mytai01. much of this work is based off of his model for decalling the F-4 Phantom. Some of the nn tgas are even lifted off his B model skins and adjusted into N models BuNos. Those that have seen his work will recognize much influence in this mod. *As with all my Phantom mods, thank you to Spillone104 for his J-79 effects. I do like them so, and hope you will as well. *Thanks to Gerwin, Sundowner, Blade, Wrench, Dave, mppd, Ghost531 and many others who have given me answers and resources to many technical questions the last year and a half i've been working this. *BIG Thanks to Icarus999 for catching a previous error in the mod *and as always thanks to TK who developed the game again thank you for downloading this mod and i hope that you enjoy it! Samurai's Shipyard
daddyairplanes replied to WhiteBoySamurai's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, my answer to the stock NA strike is to fly single ship B-52G packed with SRAMs. Nothing says hate like 12 nuclear missles on one target. -

Operation Rabid Dingo (working name)
daddyairplanes replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Well had a thought since last post bout launching 1 or 2 more than needed for mission with one of the tanks being a buddy store. Guys not needed top off the others then go home. Air spare/refueler. Would also point out the UH-1H in the d/l sevtion is an Aussie gunship, but not sure if still in service. Overall sounds interesting... -
Operation Rabid Dingo (working name)
daddyairplanes replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
there is an Airbus 310 in the Gen1 section. Hows your skinning skills? also Dels C-130s come originally in RAAF markings. Also might want to look at a light attack version of the PC-9. final suggestion is that if your gonna have Airbus support, might want to use the legacy Hornets. Super Bugs i think are being used more for A2A and deep strike as a F-111 replacement. plus they would have buddy refuel capabilty. -
Samurai's Shipyard
daddyairplanes replied to WhiteBoySamurai's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
not the stock. Sovremenny wasn't in service in 79. NF5 on the other hand....... all i can say is Hornets, Harpoons, and high speed low level!
