  1. to answer you question.... no the whole works is still down. when you see it on the main page again on the right, it should be back up. in the meantime go outside. read a book. spend quality time with your family. or if you don't want to do any of that..... go look at pron. Erik is working on getting our A/C pron back up.

  9. as many of you know I have worked many new squadrons into my personal squadronlist ini. it allows me to incorporate many more unit specific markings based on the list (ex. F4Tail636 to show tail codes for the NJ ANGs 141st TFS). I tried last year to incorporate units past 999 and they would show in the Dropdown. however they would not show in decals on aircraft. well since the patch it seems that decals will show past the 999 range. got a fake USMC sqn (VMFA001) plugged as a show unit in both the 1000 slot and then the 1200 slot, painted an existing decal red and it shows up. I will be reworking my existing sqnlist to take advantage of this.

  12. on a separate topic, I have Max 2012 currently on my comp as well as Blender. would it be possible to work a model in Max2012, shoot it to Blender, then shoot it back to Max 09 to basically make it backwards compatible? i'm still learning so the stuff different in Blender really goes double for me as I don't want to confuse myself too bad. also keeps me workin on Max due to a one year hiatus in that curriculum in school. thoughts or opinions?

  14. i'm working on some lo-viz skins for naval F-4s and had set up the universal skin, that is the jpegs in the main aircraft folder and then texture set and decal ini in the skin folders. THENNNNNN.............. I patched. now everything stock or stockish still works but STORM's F-4N doesn't accept this method anymore. had to put all bmp files into the skin folders. esp weird cause I have a F-4J that this does work on, but no joy with Storm's N. and the main folder skin works on the DLC N. any ideas? btw the J_xx and Storms N are BMP, the DLC N_xx are JPEG. edit F-4S is fine too. just cant use jpeg OR bmp outside the skin folder in STORM's F-4N.
  15. just thought of that on the drive into town this morning. haven't had time to check it out yet, although STORMs N referenced the B_67. will get back to you all when I check it out. no joy. STORMs still matches the current F-4B callouts. whats esp weird is that it doesn't work outside the skin folder but does inside. if no fix it will reduce the number of aircraft I release but greatly increase the overall file size as I had the years down (N_77, N_79 and N_83) to cover the 3 later paint schemes. if I have to leave the bmps in the skin folder then I can just release one F-4N upgrade. well two counting the DLC.
  16. no. it works in the skin folder (exact same file) just not outside. kinda sucks cause it was saving space on around 21-23 skins.

    Crazyhorse, i figured you for old enough to have a crazy Korean, German or Panamanian wife. whatchya doin lookin up online brides? and why are you tryin to get them Homeland Security degrees? on second thought, that might be a win win for both parties. the menfolk would object less to TSA if they were getting patted down by alot of asian or south american women, and the women get in the country on a student then work visa. "yes maam i think you need to pat my ankles again. could you look at me while you do that?" (was that wrong. yes yes it was)

  21. Thanks dragon and macelena. True a SCB225 should be more than a SCS. Personlly i think i need to get away from calling it that. Call these reserve carriers. Again, in the timeline no one will really want to spend money on them at first. So not really any defensive armament, and no Fightinghawks. This is to get a feel for what could have been done on the cheap. My main thinking now is either E1 or EC1 Tracer going a bit further along and directing the Scooters to punch out the eyes of the recon birds. Just noticed i said SCB225. maybe thats what i could call the refurb........
  22. I thought of that icarus. Have the yearly or bi annual carquals for those units on their assigned go to war carrier. Would possibly be used on arrival in Europe to back up NATO to. But still like the idea of wiring the TA-4J too. Esp if they could be stand off SAHM launchers. Another question for thought.... could FLIR be used to detect a sub within missle launch depth? Or snorkel depth in the case of diesels? Yes i just want an excuse to base Bronco's on a carrier.
  23. ok buncha responding to do here. the threat remains the same. the hangup for me is the AEW component, esp as I don't want to use the E-1 from DAT site. best idea is to try to get the Bears and Badger recon birds first before they can relay targeting data. yes I know the Essex would be more expensive than the LPHs. the rough idea in my head is that Carter cancels one of the Nimitz's early in his term. tells the Navy to refurbish the Last of the Essexs in place. the material condition is bad, and its not what the admirals want. to make it work they are declared for use as escort carriers in time of war. in the interim to maintain them in a semi ready state they are rotated between duty as training carriers (Lexington was already doing this) and refurb. the quickest way to man them would be to wire the TA-4s. Marine and Reserve units would fill out the rest of the airwing in event of war or major exercise. The driving factor here is COST and POLITICS, not what could have been on capability my candidates are the Lexington, Hancock, and Oriskany. Lex becomes operational in the role in 78, with the other two following a year later apiece. they designated CVT's with the intention to redesignate CVE in case of conflict. F-8s are a nice idea, but like the Thud fleet most were worn out by the end of Vietnam. Same for most of the A-4 fleet and early A-7 fleet. F-4 and A-6 were judged too heavy to fly from Essex. got your post while writing this Wrench. hmmmm on that as again, this idea comes about cause nobody wants to spend the money. Carter on the big carriers, Navy on fixing these hulks up. finally two question: 1.can Sparrow or Skyflash be lobbed into an area directed by AEW radar? Scooters could carry Shrike, which was based on the Sparrow. not a sharp shooter per say as much as a spear chucker. and wasn't Skyflash autonomous once close to the target? 2. could esm aircraft pinpoint the recon birds before awacs radar could find them? could then use EC-1 Trader as they were in use til the mid 80s
