F-105 Thunderchief Hill Grey (HELP!)
daddyairplanes replied to bucklehead101's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Before offering much, what are you using to work on the skin, GIMP or PS? As to the glass, that is a tga i believe (usually left clear). Will want to hunt down the proper file in the cat files, recolor a verrrry opaque gold and insert into the skin folder. General, advice on weathring, its a pain! But it does make them look sooo much better. -
Sea Control Ships: your thoughts...
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Would be interesting the Hornets. But the idea is sort of a budget carrier. The use as training carriers is mainly to keep them maintaned in event of war(less time getting ready). Still the Hornet idea has merits, pull them from Marine or Reserve squadrons. Gotta compare aircrsft weights....... -
What If Screenshot Thread.......
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
oh i'm thinking total package here. in the 70's studies were done on sea control ships. basically escort carrier for modern times. the real studies used harriers and the USS Wasp. but i'm thinking what if Carter decided to go for it? refurb the last Essex carriers still going with SCB125...... need a fighter (A-4M in the 70's T-45 in the 80's) light attack/ ASW ordinance delivery (poss OV-10) and AEW (S2 in 70s, Sea King AEW's in the 80's). brought in courtesy of Carter, retired in 90-92 as part of the peace dividend. in war time as said would have escorted convoys freeing up the CVA's to go after red fleet. gonna open a new thread to fleash out some opinions on this. also i'll shoot you a set of FS colors. I use it in PS6 but methinks it will work in PS4 too. -

ok on the colors. do you have a template for FS in PS? as for the "AT-45" I was gonna use the T-45 (which has hard points) and tweek the Hawk T1A skin to be lighter. got busy on other projects tho. again, definitely works for a what if flying off of upgraded Midways or Essex. lemme do a little research on the ships involved. getting an idea for convoy carriers 80's style. -

daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
ya know GearyMcS..... there are possibilities with a smaller Sea Control Carrier, the Hawk in its T-45 Goshawk configuration and modded along the lines of the Hawk T1A used for secondary air defence duties. also always been curious: how come your skins don't match FS colors closer? -
Making flyable the new DLC's?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
depends on how your going about getting it gents. if you just fire up the TW cat extractor, then in the main Strike Fighters 2 folder select DLC instead of objects you can start pulling what you need out. then once extracted it will go to a DLCxxx folder in the Extracted Files folder in with your mods folder. and finally Spinners is right, so long as you don't mind looking at an A-4B pit. in summary, the answer is : 42 -
Prob scared the s*** outta him enogh to not come back

daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
the extractor has a whole separate category for DLC. get out of objects.cat and look for "DLC" -
For the 3D creators...

Wrench said he was working a new one indeed. an SB-17 would make nice post war eye candy too while the request lines are open... -
Positioning Decals, Pilots...
daddyairplanes replied to Stipe's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
depending on how you want it to look, you may adjust several times to a precision of thousandths (x.xxx). it goes x (front/back) and z (up/down) for decals in that order. for most of my projects i get the first one positioned how i want, then get the rest of my tgas made with guides in place to help keep it all straight. -
but which to choose? the folks I deployed with twice, my current unit Reserve unit (nah scratch that) or would I even be allowed that BRO finally? (stupid Kosovo doesn't count for a patch back in 2000 grumble grumble..) nah lets keep it simple. but seriously, I agree with Crazyhorse. don't care for the current logo. but then again I came in to "Be All that You Can Be."

daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
If the naval Phantoms are lo-viz i wouldn't mind those. VMFA134, and 451 regular (not the Forrestal dep) in particular -

Phantoms are ok, and fps is up from before. Plus the F-4N got its slotted stabs! I'm happy with it for now.... -
DLC029 now available
daddyairplanes replied to usafphantom2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I know that Wrench. I was talking RL. Wont be picking up either AI dlc til end of the month. Cant even afford a sad panda smiley right now..........Thst said i am majorly debating which to get. The Zipper sets in with a long term goal to revamp all ANG users. The Spitfire was given to just about every air force that fought with the RAF while their home country was occupied. As for the rest, well as Dave said the rest are mostly targets. -

May Patch?
daddyairplanes replied to usafphantom2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Wrench, its a matter of two or more TW program folders if you want patched at other levels. Did some playin with it for curiousity sake when i was fixin my wifes comp. Other wise reboot your old original files then the jul 12 patch. Cussin the whole way -
Very true gepard. But i don't think, esp under the old system, that the pilots that shot down the planes were later eligible for promotion too general! That has been the big deal about this thread.....

Is it possible for the game to use addon carriers?
daddyairplanes replied to R102Delphinus's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Do you have the in game mission editor? It is available in Expansion pack 2 or as a seperate dlc if you do not. Using that and choosing the carrier of your choice is the best way to spawn on the carrier you want. Other wise the game can and will throw curve balls..... like dogfighting Soviet Spitfires!
