Stock Aircraft loading screens
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
soooo... i went and collected pics of all the stock birds to make a loading screen mod for the stock game. went to load it up last night and nothing. pics are in JPEG format, and i tried running both A-4B_Loading.JPG and A-4B_Loading.JPEG. but its a no show, just that F-4 with the George AFB codes. am currently running May 2013 patch. any ideas? non stock birds do just fine with loading screens in bitmap and jpg formats sooo i'm slightly baffled. also knocked out the jpeg screens for my USAF skinpack so i suspect TKs hand in there somewhere. TIA for any help -

Anyone with MS Access...
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
for those interested i am working up a DB on US Air National Guard sqns from 1947 through 2000 ish. special interest for who was deployable during the Cold War years, which bout covers the span of the stock game. only through Michigan right now and there are still many holes in the info (specific model of F-84 for example) anyone interested in a sneak peek before i compile it all and release as MS Word reports in the future? as the title would indicate, need Access for access....(drum roll, cheesy grin) -
in the CONEX, the way you have to get them home anyhow... how will i make money without my meth lab in the B's? that will cut into my profits having to rent a house in Bonnie Dune.....

he doesnt have the ANG covered Dave. was planning on covering that myself but much later (after SLUFs and Sierra Phantoms) and you tend more to all markings on the skin where i prefer using tgas. Why not ANG Hogs? or USAFE Sabres or F-84s? -
Vipers during Desert Storm?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
read bout a mission in the book Iron Hand where the South Carolina ANG went after a SAM site in Kuwait armed with Mk84s! amazingly didn't lose anyone, tho the commander said he felt it was more SAM depletion than SAM suppression... as for the ADFs, they were originally for the ANG interceptor units. i believe several went to Jordan in the 90s after a peace treaty was signed with Isreal but thats about it. everyone else opted to go with Amraams for BVR correction: at a minimum the Italians leased ADFs for about 5 years til the Typhoon came online. with only 270 ADFs modified anyone else flying them got them second hand from the Guard... -

yes but CT had a seagull on the tail of some of their birds. incorporated using the tan paint. don't think thats represented. and i happen to know not all ANG units are there. just a bit too much RL stuff to do to get that now..... when looking for the above pic i found someone else for you to do. wait scratch that you said something. -

Vipers during Desert Storm?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
hadn't heard about the Apache kill. as a Soldier that tends to find himself on airbases, i don't think the pilots would let the AF forget that Army Aviation got a kill too! fallenphoenix, the Hogs kills were pretty much like Thud A2A tactics in Nam....... poor bastards (the Iraqi choppers) were unfortuneate enough to fly in front of the largest gatling gun airborne!! -

Dilemma - A New Rig or a More Thorough Look Under the Bonnett
daddyairplanes replied to Piecemeal's topic in Hardware/Software Chat
Facing a similar issue my self, although i've decided just to load some registry cleaning software and get an aftermarket warranty to double check that the hardware is still good to go. And i always thought disabling or eliminating unneeded progrsms to be good in general. Old habit from my compaq presario days eventho my current rig is vastly better. Hell i cleaned out a bunch of stuff even though i had over 500 GB available -

Sea Control Ships: your thoughts...
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I know this is the What if forum but I do like to keep my what if ideas in some plausible realms. the idea is as stated based off the Sea Control Ship. the idea is that while the LPH/ Harrier combo was rejected, after Carter took office he moved to refurbish 3 of the SCB-125 Essex's into the concept. they would pull double duty as training carriers and escort carriers. potential airwings would be TA-4Js wired for 'Winders, OV-10s for light strike/ long range torp delivery, H-3s, and E-1s for AEW. 80's air wing would upgrade to T-45s with a similar conversion as the Hawk T1As and poss a similar Sea King AEW lik the Brits did after the Falklands. would like some feedback on the following - using the Hancock, Oriskany, and Lexington as the carriers. they were the last to be retired and therefore the most likely I think to be brought back for this - dual tasking training squadrons to the escort duty. in wartime we would go in with what we had, the instructors would be needed in the fleet. - whether the TA-4's could realistically be wired for AIM-9. A-4Bs were flown off the CVS's in the early 60's for daytime fighter protection - how bad was the condition of the E-1? could it have possibly been maintained into the early 80's? - looking at a timeline of mid 78 for the Lex, 79 for the Hancock and 80 for Oriskany. all at the expense of a Nimitz tho. - OV-10s for long range torpedo delivery. at least more stand off than the SH-3s would give.... -what do we have on hand that would work in this scenario instead of the E-1? if this goes forward into mod mode, would be nice to keep it in house(CA), but the carrier will need some kind or airborne radar to provide early warning that can operate from an Essex looking forward to your ideas.. -
Need info on F-4C Phantoms
daddyairplanes replied to macelena's topic in Military and General Aviation
to the best of my knowledge, C's never got chaff or flare dispensers like the D and E got. thats why alot of them went to interceptor units in the Air National Guard in the 80's, where they would be expected to be offensive against enemy bombers rather than defensive against fighters. but thats not to say the Spanish or Koreans didn't add on their own systems to their birds..
