Patch Level Rant
daddyairplanes replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
TK changed it up so you dont have to install in order anymore. only quirks are that you HAVE to have SF2Israel for EXP1 and HAVE to have SF2Europe for EXP2. -

TW history question
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
hello again all. i'm writing a paper on TW for my intro to Sim. and Game Design class. unfortuneately TW declined to let me interview them so i'm turning to my next best source of info.... right here at CA. the question i'm esp needing help with is : What exactly was the Walmart fiasco of a few years back? i'm looking for that info to tie in why they distrubute on their website. won't ask about future plans as that is always guesswork here, and due to it being more historical info would appreciate a response from one of the older heads round here. Also, as it is a paper being turned in for a grade i will want to cite your answers as internet interviews. real name not required (tho would look better) but again i will be quoting you in the paper. TIA for your responses to this. -

Requesting Basic Templates of some Fighters
daddyairplanes replied to morteza1374's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I'm guessing you wantt these for IRIAF or IIAF skins. if so there are many available for most of the aircraft listed, esp should be in the Op Darius mod if you want more current ones. -
make sure you vote today! don't care your party or preference and PLEASE dont turn it political and get this moved to the Arena. just make sure you go and vote. i did.

thanks all. Fubar, i'm gonna use yours as an interview is easier to cite than a webpage. good stuff suhsjake, but i did it this way to make my life easier in the final part of the paper.... -

SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
if you can, actual start dates for Mk 80 series. i've edited my personal ones to start in 62 cause it was just irritating to see Mustangs with Mk82s in 1953! i believe Ed Hienneman originally designed em for his Scooter but they are now they standard for dumb iron and smart cores.... @HF, are you doing anything with Composite squadrons? was putzing on Wiki last night and saw a bit about VC-10, last active Skyhawk operator stationed at Gitmo. -

interesting thoughts bout the activation, again using Denmark and the F-104G, the stock skins are none in dk gray but the third party skin with a deal is fully up. will give your method a try later today on the stock skins to see how it works, given i would like to get them displayed in game for the lesser used NATO folks (Denmark, Norway) -

Squadron name not displaying on loadout screen
daddyairplanes replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
for say,ESK 727, to appear in the loadout screen, i had to make a decal for 727. we'll say for sake of arguement its #609 in the squadonlist, and are adding a badge. you therefore need badge609.tga then all will show in the dropdown. if you make all your marking on the skin itself, you can just list in the texturelist, but it will only show that squadron and greyed out at that. -

daddyairplanes replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
you need: a mention in the squadronlist.ini a mention in the texture set and a decal level 1 mention in the decal ini AND a level 1 decal for it to find in a decal folder. this threw me off trying to get the Danes to show up for a bit as i worked on my uber squadronlist ini. btw have you tried the list in the realism mod thread? (yea shameless plug) did up some Hikotais in there as well as many other folks. working up the Dhimari AF right now and tryin to figure out who else to add.... anyhow hope this helps -

good to hear Fubars ok. you can bounce back from anything other than being six feet under. just checked Veltros WIP thread, would think he'd be posting away there if he''s able to with his "hurricane projects".....

Patch Level Rant
daddyairplanes replied to Z09SS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i agree with JonathanRL, i dont notice much in the way of problems. of course i also remember the philosophy that this is sim lite, not Falcon 4.0 or DCS. i can get targets on radar, missles hit a reasonable amount of the time depending on model, and bombs blow things up when i drop in parameters. the things i dont like and can fix myself i do (Phantom tailcodes, loadouts, start years on the Mk 80 series) and things that other modders are good at i DL what interests me and enjoy.(Wrench and Starys terrians, Sundowners Phantoms skins, various other aircraft avaiable) also how much is patch level and how much is the users system trying to keep up with the patch level? i used to grumble to myself on my old Compaq about features with patches but havent noticed as much other than a visual stutter in the desert terrains since upgrading to my new HP (quad core 2.5 Ghz boostable to 3.2, 8 GB RAM, Radeon graphics card ontop of stock). even that does not bother me personally as most of my flying is in Germany CE and the other titles were bought to enhance that game. -
I think I might be able to fix...
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum

Third Wire SF 2 Korea 1951?
daddyairplanes replied to regula50's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
if you cant find anyone by the spring, and if you know anyone who would be willing to listen to my many questions, and if (yea i know alot of ifs) you know anyone who would convert it to 2009Max from blender i would be willing to give it a stab in the spring. taking a course on 3D modelling starting in January and who know i may be able to double dip it for the community and as a class project. in EF-10B form it would be valuable for Vietnam installs as well.....
