daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
European AF and South Vietnam. i was gonna merge Vietnam expansion pack's and NF4+'s ini's to this one and that would cover alot on those two. but still only around and additonal 150 between the two i think so still room. only thing explictly planned is upto 700 though. will release a new list on sunday so just shoot me what you add and i will adjust fire from there. -

SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
if your talking the reserve units i would add the ones that had a realistic likely had a shot of deploying in a war scenario. with ANG units many FIS's would be kept in CONUS to protect the homeland. yes the 5th FIS deployed to Germany for Cold Fire in '75, but realistically they would have stayed at home. dibs on 600-700 but if you wanna plug some of the reservists in no worries. i'm gonna //// add descriptions of what each 100 block is //// so folks at home know what they are looking at in the squadronlist. -

#592 in the squadronlist.ini posted earlier in here. took yours and wrapped up thru 600 with active duty naval units then added mine with Phantoms. bogged down abit due to RL. aim to have at least some USAF/ANG love going thru 700 this weekend here in thread. -
new DLC: A-4L, Navy And Marines Released
daddyairplanes replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i actually agree FC. i had a bit to spare for the F-4 skinpack DLC. literally bought it to save myself time place the 4-digit numbers on the tail(instead of fuselage), to see the Reserve Sqn Tails and for the Ferris. IMO we have better Heater Ferris and TPS on site but i'm still playing around with the new ones. and in my case (and with my belly) the 3 bucks was prob better spent than on the cheeseburger and coke! as for the others, either the subjects don't interest me or i am happy enough with whats here. as for this community and our griping, we are just using our basic right to bit.... uh gripe. it's when folks stop with the gripes and jokes that you worry..... -

TK(on the light issue): ahaahaahaa. Lasers mounted on fricken Skyhawks! DanW: ummm sir the Skyhawks are on the National registry of Historical Aircraft. we're not allowed to mount lasers on them. However, we do have a Cessna 172 available. TK: Is it evil? DanW: ill tempered. -
new DLC: A-4L, Navy And Marines Released
daddyairplanes replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
in the TW board room......... DanW: One year ago we started to release DLC mods at cost to our customers. many of them have already been released for free at Combat Ace. However enough people are ignorant of this fact to be profitable. For files already done we charge 2.99. For the things the modders could do but haven't yet we charge 5.99. what should we charge for DLC from the files that have been locked sir? TK: (sorry bout the next thing that gets locked guys. but that thought's been running thru my head ever since readin a bazillion Skyhawks....) -

Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
thought yes. but the main gist of what im trying to knock out by thursday(when i start back in fall semester) is to loviz the tails for the dlc. i have a headstart on it from my personal project but have had to make some new like the VF-302 displayed above. for those w/o F-4S mod the stock J will have to suffice. those with S or my J_74 (w/ DECM) will see whole different skins for those birds. but with the DLC, TK took away alot of the decal.ini dance getting things placed and was nice enough to give me USNR squadron decals to play with. lets say the inital release will likely be a version 0.7 until i get my other loviz skins for J_74, N and S complete. it will also only feature those squadrons that actually flew it US Navy from 78-86. -
Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
you'll need SF2 or 2V to run it. the object cats might list it but likely wont actually read or use it. i think SF2E might have the navy birds also but its been long enough since i had it unmerged that i really dont remember. my opinion, i got Europe first, then added everything else to enhance that theater. more progress on the lo viz project. -

working on loviz tails for the new DLC. trying to knock it out by the time i start school next week. first of each is the stock DLC, the second my new decals. please don't judge aircraft or sides as i'm using my personal loviz skin and its decals folder to develop them. final release will have my skins and edited decal.ini lines for the DLC. finally VF-74 didn't wear bright AJ codes in the late 70's. -

Fictitious/Experimental Modern "Red Side" Aircraft

Fiskous Fi-170 from Dale Browns Night of the Hawk. Russian version of the EB-52 Megafortress/ EB-1 strategic escort. by description sort of like a combo B-1/ F-19 on steriods. Flankers would still be a good match depending on the avionics fit and weapons used. though not stealthy most Soviet design were less technical but more mass produced than American planes. like tank warfare on the western front in WW2, one side has better equipment and tactics. the other side simply has more to throw at you! going a Chinese route, you could say they bought or stole french radar and missles then tailored to the Flanker force. would be a wicked combo........ -
Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion

Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
For the Navy most flew J's right upto the beginning of the 80's. VF74 and VF-103 were the last to fly the Phantoms on cruise in LANTFLT and had J's in 81, S's for the 83 final cruise. N's lasted in PACFLT until around 82-83 on Coral Sea and the S bowed out on active duty on the Midway in 85. however all displayed models will be on J right now as decals placement is the same for all naval Phantom models and when i get the lowviz tails done i'm makin a folder and editing the decal ini for the new DLC. -

Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
and more in just 2.99 weeks but seriously gotta get decals made for VF-151, 161, and TPS versions for 74 and 103 as well as a modified 201 and 202 up and running. frankly i like my loviz grey better but will edit the decal ini so the DLC can use the lo viz decals. still gotta touch up some of the decals but all markings except the walkway are tgas. screenie on the screenshot thread shows the ferris with my VF-154 decals although my research only shows VF-194 trialing that scheme. HUGE thanks to mytai whereever you are. if anyone has a book or pics other than the Color and Markings no 17 and 22 i would appreciate a peek. -
