Conquest of the Longbow
daddyairplanes replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
as for skins i think it would be more a matter of decalling as i cant think of anyone that uses something other than original colors. well outside the isrealis and SC National Guard. -

congrats on the retirement Dave! one more deployment and 3 1/2 and i'll be caught up with ya. @ firehawk i wore that to drill yesterday. course it was supposed to be a family day. instead we get told sunday morning that we are on order for med screening for two day on the first day of the orders! lets say half got the email sat at midnight and half did not. care to guess which half i was in? at least we got lunch with our families, before getting our shots. i never thought i would miss being in a signal battalion! back @ Dave now you can tell tales of how much worse you had it! you know how the bbq blew up and everyone including the wives had to get rabies shots at midnight etc etc etc

daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
in that universe..... 1st!!! DeGaulle has to go. he was way too France first for that too have come close to flyin. leads to 2nd!!!!! How much does Lockheed bribe the French AF to buy em? admittedly it would look good but this is a guy who'd only shut up about Americans leaving french soil when the SecState of the time asked him if we should remove the war dead from the American cemetaries in france! -
Decals Program
daddyairplanes replied to Ngr's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
gimp is an excellent program. it does take a bit to get used to but works charms when you have a slight clue what your doing. -
aint no pro here just figured ya send your long arms outfar, let the guys with less endurance play closer to home if you can shoot you can shoot. hell in a pinch send the SLUFs up with 'winders!

if i remember right most carrier air wings in the 80's had two squadrons of Tomcats dedicated to air defense(24 a/c). likely with hostilities against an enemy that can strike the carrier 4 Toms would be airborne with another 4 on ready alert, and a lot of motivation on the boat to get the rest airborne as quick as possible. if the air wing had Hornets they could also provide a closer in screen while Tomcats engaged further out. but yes while they were under threat they would need fighters for defense not escort.

actually Nato didnt even have superior strength. the F-19s attacked or designated for attack the bridges that the bulk of reinforcements needed to get into the fight. it became an even matched battle of attrition. the russian side called the cease fire due to a political coup in Moscow and a massive lack of fuel for the fielded forces. the European campiagn was to keep NATO busy while Iran was invaded, for their oil after a major refinery was destroyed by terrorists. in R/L i believe if Operation Dreamland (downing of the Mainstays and bridges) had proceeded it woulda looked like this..... Eagles outta bitburg go for the Mainstays and escorts, Luftwaffe Phantoms and Hahn based Vipers block west bound flights while Spang Phantoms (i assume it to be pre 86) work on SAMs. and a Det of F-117s takes down the bridges. would have been deadlier for the NATO side, esp the Eagles but prob with much the same result esp if authorized to go preemptive like in the book. nothing throws off an armed intruder like finding the owner of the house with his shotgun blasting! and Gepard the Warsaw Pact had modern equipment in it (Mi-24, T-72) but due to much of the forces being behind the blown bridges it became a high tech stalemate.

Combo recon/fuel pod?
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
i know several recon pods are housed in F-16 centerline tanks but i've never heard of them holding fuel as well... the HIAC-1 pod might've also been a 600 gal centerline for the Phantom but i'm not sure on that one and am at drill this weekend -

daddyairplanes replied to GodsLt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
couldnt one change the format of the image? say using Gimp to go from dds to bmp until the bigger issue is resolved. no more space saving but it would work again. -

daddyairplanes replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
try going to the SF2 D/L section, not the specific one for aircraft. then click on upload a file and follow the directions to go to the Aircraft section from there. its what i had to do for the LORAN bird i uploaded this weekend. i think i had that problem too on the Phantom decal pack but just backtracking til i got access. -
