if your not looking for historically accurate use the ones from my Post Vietnam pack. i did all the TW Phantom serials in all black (for Euro 1 and SEA Wraparound) and in gray. still gotta update that pack but no wireless reception in the room right now so i'm stuck with MWR computers that i cant upload/download on. -
How can i have more than one GermanyCE based terrains ?
daddyairplanes replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
maybe he wants two different time eras. bases and cities looked different in say WW2 thru the 50s and the 70s thru the 80s. a berlin airlift scenario would be geographically the same as GermanyCE but look much different.(nudge nudge hint hint wink wink know what i mean? ) -

this has been a fun one to read!!! i'll be with everyone else in the 9/10 lookin at cat files (for Phantom changes and squadronlistin my case). sorry Slarti, you are the 1/10! . i will get it in 3 weeks after 1. it comes out and 2. i convince my wife to buy it, d/l to a thumbdrive and mail it to me! and Dave, it aint snowin here. sorry, no pony! -
same opinion as Major Lee, Gepard. no one wants to see a major economy or currency fail. at the time i just did not think the nations of Europe had come together enough at that point for it to work. the way that europe has interlocked its economies and defense is a big step to a quote united states of europe. however national identities are still very strong within each soveriegn nation and may lead to big changes down the road. as always, politics play a part in economics and vice versa. not to mention as always, all politics is local. maybe not the end of the euro zone itself, maybe a changeup in the currency to adjust for the current problems.

corruption in a major sports organization! gasp!! how could that be?!?!?!? and for the part in the middle of the page about "in case we upset the germans",as john cleese said in the episode of that show(one about a hotel cant remember the name)..."well you started it!" -
ya know i was stationed in germany when they switched fron the mark to the Euro.i will give the eurozonbe credit, i thought it would tank and everyone would go back to the old currencies within 5 years when it changed. still, i miss the old mark exchange rate(averaged 2 marks to the USD while i was there)

F-16 meshnames
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
sooo while waiting on the bird across the atlantic, i started conveting some of the old Dutch 323Sqn Diana skins over to decals for TWs F-16A. i was bored. also found some decals with Dianas not on site yet. however the feet are currently chopped off the old girl. does anyone know the meshname for the base of the vert tail? the ventral fins would be useful too as the summer and winter Dianas have the serial and fin stripe moved to there. will release screenies as soon as i get my own internet up and plan to release as a pack when done (4 skins so far, with a total of 6 when done) TIA and thanks to the Dutch for constantly puttin them blondes up on the tails of their Vipers! -

Question about F-4 loadouts
daddyairplanes replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
oh you would ask this well i am away from home and my books! i am workin from memory here but recall seein that the navy preferred the centerline due to flying characteriscs and the fact that their airbase could get closer to the fight. the air force usually seems to prefer the 2 wing tanks (740 gal vs 600 gal). however in the early days of LGBs one wing and and the centerline would be carried with a Pave Knife pod on the other wingtank station. as for the brits, no gunpod before the 80s on F-4K (in RN or RAF service) and mostly brit munitions, GP bomb and RP. on loadout i have seen in photos alot is on the inboard, 2x AIM-9, TER with two Matra pods and one 540 GP bomb. and thats RN! three bags of gas for that loadout. after the jaguar came into service the FG1,FGR2 and F-4J(UK) were all tasked air defense with full load of missles 2 tanks and SUU-23. and finally, go 4 mavericks (payload vs drag/wieght considerations). pre maverick go CBUs. yer not up armored like a Hog, one pass and get the hell outta Dodge! hope this helps, thos like i said im not at home so cant double check me facts or photos. good thing its only my short term memory thats messed up! -

What's your favourite 'Strike Fighters' year?
daddyairplanes replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
the last year or so i've been stayin roughly between 1977 and 1986, though playin the most in 1983 in Germany. the old cold warriors were on the way out but Teen series just getting warmed up. throw in the various WP air defense assest out there in CA land and it makes mud moving a very interesting task! plus with all the tension in the world in 83 (KAL0007, Able Archer, Operation RYAN etc) it would have been the most likely time for a slugfest in the Fulda Gap. dont believe me on survivabilty, fly a Dutch Starfighter recce with all the SAMs from NF4+ loaded! oh and all my years work, all installed but the very original. -

Dave if yer askin if greek and turk Vipers flyin together is odd, just try goin into a doner kebab restaurant and ordering a gyro! (hint be ready to run ) as for the Norwegian Vipers , sooooreeee! i have been in and out of a training fob the last month so i kinda get a lil behind. still great work on all the Vipers and everything everyones released the last month. end of the deployment i gotta get a new comp and then really be rollin! some of what ive been doin while stuck inthe middle of nowhere takin the Oscar Duece into the 80s gotta upload my updates for the Phantoms decal pack, now with sharkmouths (or tigers inthe case of the NJ ANG) i think i gotta fix up the data ini for the Hun. that or the Danes are gettin fiesty. and finally... wouldnt this shot make for an excellent loading screen? -
thanks all. spent this weekend on pass before going back tonite to await a flight back to OEF. but got to catch the airshow in el paso this weekend and see the Blues for the first time in about 10 years.

daddyairplanes replied to meade95's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
well would be interesting for a what if Super D or E model, but no the navy didnt invest in Slammer capability for the Tomcat. probably didnt want to admit the Phoenix was a lemon! -

wouldnt the Dutch and Brit versions be a matter of different decals? US Army and RAF flew D models outta Kandahar as i recall but you had to be close enough to see the markings to tell who they belonged to. i think the dutch use the same color as well. @ soulman i always like seein me some Phantoms in here -
