try a guns only against the Flanker. if we get into it with china , one would think they would sortie a gaggle of older gen fighters to deplete the 22's missles, then send in the flankers when our guys are winchester! -
well woulda been funnier if Daves post of "we're all gonna die had stayed up"

gustav, according to Spirit in theSkies 2 of the naval F-4Gs were assigned to NATC and the other 10 to VF-213. they were to be redesignated VF-116 but those orders were countermanded quickly tho not before a few jets were painted as such. cant find any record of a green VF-121 F-4G in my references. the NATC birds werent even painted green. hope that helps ya -

you would think Mustangs as a no brainer but you just dont see many in Europe when lookin up the early postwar years. i am aware of Russo's N and its behavior in Gen2. lets say im eagerly watchin developments on new Jugs! yet it is the only one where the control surfaces fully move so tis what i've got to work withnother idea is F-80s goin to Germany rather than south america as the US was done with them. ya didnt think we were gonna give them top of the line stuff early on did ya? -

hmm i thought they were smelted down so atleast the metal can be reused. that would have taken a couple of years possibly. but if they were burnt on the airfield? couple of months and no more warplanes. still ya gotta abmit Me262 v Yak 23 woulda made for an interesting addition to Ceasar and EricJ's dogfight fest what about P-47s? book i have states the stocks given to 86th FW were drawn from storage in europe. would have been zehr gut fur das Jabo am der neue Luftwaffe!( very good for a new attack plane!) -

EricJ in your Thud report you said you had a Mig on your tail for most of 14 minutes. in real life, if a Thud pilots bombs were gone and the mig was on his six, standard tactic was to open the throttle all the way. or as i heard it told, nothins faster than a scared Thud!!! also am i seeing the screenies right? is that a french mig v brit Thud? -

well going back through this thread and looking round the landscape many of the wishes will be coming true in the nearer rather than farther future. -
wonder if he was a Serbian Kosovar, as the Albanian ones couldnt show us enough how much they loved us when i was there. course that was in 2000 very shorly after KFOR got started so i cant speak on how it changed. as for the so called stab in the back i do remember being on a field problem in Germany 2 weeks after 9/11 and was listening to AFN on someones boombox(hey bein a cook aint all bad) anyhow the guy fillin in for Rush Limbaugh pointed out that the majority of american military actions in the 90s were in support of muslim peoples (Bosnia, Kosovo, the start of Somalia not the finish). he finished his statement by saying how did they repay us?

F4 Phantom question
daddyairplanes replied to Wodin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
think he meant the E style Phantoms Wrench. i believe it more to do with commonality (N's were revamped B's while S's are revamped J's) and institutional pride than mountings (not sure on wieght). the testbed for the gun nosed Phantom was RF-4C 62-1220 and the RF-4B was a RF-4C nose mated to F-4B airframe. the Marines had deployed RF-4Bs off of carriers. final part of my arguement is that max takeoff weight and "combat" wieght are around 1000 lbs more for the E than the S. could be taken care of by restricting use of the centerline station. just sayin........
