F-4C countermeasures?
daddyairplanes replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The C's and D's were pretty much interceptors by then and more likely to be used to defend CONUS than the Fulda Gap. so not so much of a need for countermeasures some D models went to Ramstein at about that timeframe with Montana and North Dakota ANG while the 86th TFW was converting to Vipers. but pretty sure they would have had countermeasures. push come to shove, do in the data.ini what the crew chiefs would have done: jimmy rig something!!!! -

well, you seem quite froggy, go ahead an jump on this. we look forward to your work as for the references, theres a hell of a lot more out there than even 5 years ago, let alone 10 years ago (when TK last did major work on SF2 as we mod it). be glad for it and make full use of it -

Carrier Ramps
daddyairplanes replied to toot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
i figured the ini dance would be with a pairing of an aircraft and carrier like in Gepard's screenies. im not saying this is super easy to do. to the contrary, it will be difficult, not fit every aircraft or ship, and take a lot of time to do. its possible, but you'd have to really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, want it to go through with it -
Carrier Ramps
daddyairplanes replied to toot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
so it seems possible. but will need ALOT of ini dancing to make practical -

Add nations
daddyairplanes replied to Del2i's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
for starters, i would delete all the new aircraft, then add one at a time to see which one was the offending party checking the game between deleting all new birds and adding them singly is advised too. make sure it is one of the aircraft and not some other issue finally, is that part of the drop down truly blank, or just greyed out with text in there and not allowing alternate selections? -

no patch since 2013, its pretty damn stable-ish by now. oc course if he were to patch it or make a major new release, everyone would be gaga and amazed he did something for the first 24 hours. then would come all the bitching. THIS ISNT RIGHT! HIS PATCH BROKE MY MOD!!! (not that i remember that back in '11 and '12...) so yeah, best to play with and tweek what we got. -

TGA Decals
daddyairplanes replied to LilLucy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
still discussing GIMP, now that he gave you a fish lunch, i'll teach you how to fish for yourself. open the file, under files select Export As (NOT SAVE AS) then make sure teh file type is .tga uncheck the box next to RLE compression. this pops up the first time you open GIMP, and then it will stay that way for any other tgas you open during that session. open any others you need to fix and export them, allowing overwrites. sometimes when working with serials, i forget to uncheck the box first time out. so i might make a dozen serial number decals before realizing the filse sizes are too small. so i have to follow the steps above to fix them -

daddyairplanes replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yes it should be about skinning mostly. possibly some data ini changes if you want Iranian Tigers past the mid 90s but there are a few model options in the F-5 portion of the download section -
Fictional USCG Osprey
daddyairplanes replied to ext's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
the Coasties have a lower budget than the Marines,. all the bad publicity early on with the crashes and i think theyre too big to land on most cutters they did some tests with the XV-15 though back in the 80s -
Fictional USCG Osprey
daddyairplanes replied to ext's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
looks awesome would suggest moving the insignia off the nacelles though. because of the rotation. best suggested place would be on the fuslage forward of the red band, and as big as possible -

daddyairplanes replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
dont recall a DAT Dragon Lady. the one here is the much earlier smaller one i have one as well, from a friend of a friend type deal and not for public release. but part of how i came across it was to tweak their skins and do serials as well as tail arts. as for the aircraft, that one could be interesting. the superpods on the wings, the hump on top and even the noses are interchangable. if one were to set it up as recce pod weapons, and the locations as weapon stations you could tailor the aircraft just as in real life -
