probably the Hornets. they have been in use for 27 years now, and wont be retired (if i am right) for another two to three... in addidtion to. 28 Super Hornets on order too, figure they replace the legacy Hornets thatve been in use for over a quarter century -

Mirage IVP Loadout
daddyairplanes replied to jeffyb's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
starting questions - did you edit the aircraft data ini from NUC to BOMB? - do you have the French weapons that would have actually loaded, or did you change the attachment types to NATO or USAF? - do you have the dual ejector racks that would be needed for most of those layouts? (french bombs and dual ejector racks found in several mods, easiest being Gunny's weapons pack but with many newer ones out there im sure) - finally, out of my own curiosity, are you planning to use Mk80 series bombs? the french would use SAMP series bombs, and still have a big enough defense industry and military to not buy American -

just had a thought on this, given its low observable features and McDonnell Douglas' past with supernatural names (especially for naval fighters) Spectre would have been a good name for this had it gone forward (USAF gunships be damned!) -

Differences in Add on Missiles
daddyairplanes replied to Righteous26's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
he beat me to it on the file portion GKABS work is much newer and more detailed than the older pack. not to put the old missiles down, its just a matter of being more recent and being able to build on and improve the older works. why not just use GKABS HAWK? unless there is some specific reason to use the older set, i would generally use the newer set when possible -

Removing Weapons From a Campaign
daddyairplanes replied to Righteous26's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
its like inception: not impossible just bloody damn difficult depends on what youre trying to remove, but given you say the game pulls stock weapons i would (in your shoes) edit the aircraft data ini to no longer carry that weapon. you wont see it in that campaign. or anywhere esle you fly on that install unless you are flying in an ODS or other post Vietnam era campaign, this should work. before the late 1970s there arent that many "one size fits all" missile or rocket types. Navy and Air Force Phantoms carried different Sidewinders and Sparrows, the Century series birds with exception of the F-104 didnt carry either of them etc etc. one other option is to do a new data ini for the offending weapon and set it to end service the year before your campaign. same names as the stock one that substitutes in so the game doesnt do that any more the catch to it is do you want this change to only affect the campaign or the whole install? final thing to change would be the aircrafts loadout ini. for basic mission types (like intercept) it will preload for you. you can have other load out types, but usually need the mission editor to see them (like 57th FIS intercept) -

in the US, there's only two branches: the Army and the Navy. because the Air Force is a corporation, and the Marines are a cult. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ yes its an older joke. i guess the Space Force is government sponsored cosplay? and i forgot about the Coast Guard, but thats okay. everyone does

Combatace access issues.
daddyairplanes replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
good advice. i had the same issue last night, brought the site up on Edge, then cleared out in Firefox. tacky as it sounds, it was a direct result of reading this thread you should make it sticky or post a new permanent (and locked) thread at top of the Bugs forum -

Pilots.... well actually Navs and FEs....
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
gotcha, although i will wait on yakarov's potential new crew members. i was tinkering more than i was trying to adjust the helo pilot that info is good enough to need to find its way into the knowledge base though, as simple reversal would improve many models (tail gunners anyone?) -

so i have the following entry [FltEng] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT SeatID=3 ShowPilot=TRUE PilotModelName=PROP_PILOT SetCockpitPosition=TRUE Position=0.617,12.275,0.775 MinExtentPosition=-0.615,12.25,-0.770 MaxExtentPosition=-0.595,12.50, 0.780 //SeatModelName=seat_F-15 SeatModelName= SeatPosition=0.593,16.58,0.249 CanopyNodeName= is there anyway to turn the pilot so hes face to the right or left via ini edit? and if not, is there a way to change the orientation in Max so the pilot is 90 degrees of the "normal" facing front postion? looked up EricJ's tutorial and through the KB, and remember there was a thread about this with another bird (facing backwards in this case) just dont remember what the outcome was -

appreciate the offer currently working with Prop Pilot, although for the birds you can see into (cargo, not typically post WW2 bombers) could go with airline style and regular air force flight suit style with headphones for the one working the radios it actually doesnt need to be anything too fancy, as the pilots flying heavies dont usually wear a lot of survival gear like fighter and bomber crews and at game scales and most folks tendency to zoom in, the patches are too small to tell who they are ideal would be a set of five, one pilot configured with headphones, one pilot without, one facing port, one facing starboard, and one facing rear. the left right and rear folks should be positioned more like typing or reaching for a screen than as if flying. sorry, there arent too many good pics of flight engineers on the internet of 2021, these pics are more for general appearance of the uniform than anything else final note, tried changing values in the helopilot01 same as done with the Prop_Pilot i'd love to report that it flipped him to but there was no noticable change. so the address and/or values change up with each model. damn, i could hope -
My projects (GKABS)
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
looks better than my list. although i go to work something off and get distracted with a new shiny other project.... -
first and last shots of the Abrams, with the ammo racks burning/burnt out are not a sign of vulnerability but a design feature. it vents the fire and explosion upwards away from the crew and gives a chance to get away when it dies down. the turret removed shot and the one where its on fire and looks like it was stomped look to me like ones that were hit by 1000-2000lb IEDs. there were enough laying around Iraq between 2003 and 2005 for it to be a not uncommon thing i wont claim they are invulnerable. saw enough of them in a holding area in Balad in 2005 to not believe cable TV or the technothrillers. but it is pretty rare to hear of a US crew dying in their tank if it doesnt roll over.
