daddyairplanes replied to snowburn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
my suggestion first look up what ships each side had in that time frame. England and Australia should be easy, best guess without looking up myself is that Argentine and Brasil would be using mostly WW2 surplus from the US and UK (yes, the UK). then compare with the download section first for what there actually is, then what looks close if there is not exactly what you need. the ship sections in the Downloads is not that big (compared to aircraft skins or aircraft) and can be searched in under two hours if youre very thorough. 20 minutes if you skim. interested to see how this goes. i like the what if scenarios, and like it best when they follow the minimal change rule of good alternate history -

nice Nightshade. but when CPT Masters was discovered to have gone on yet another unauthorized mission, he was summarily drummed out of service. Damn those regs, even if what he did was right he did get an excellent letter of recommendation for his next day job tho, and a position in the Reserves, based somewhere down south.... -

i forgot you had this in the works saw a USG contractor one many moons ago, first in Laurinburg NC airport (we were set up there for a field exercise) then i swear the same one again in Kandahar Air Field almost a year later. its memorable because is was taxying about 50 ft away in Laurinburg (we were on our last day and lined up to convoy back to Ft Bragg) when the door flew open! turned around, closed the door and went to do it again, although we started rolling before he took off -

Strike Fighters 2 Tutorial: Radars, RWR, and Missiles
daddyairplanes replied to GKABS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
wrong thread i think. this video appears to be on usage of radars and missiles in game, not modding. however to answer your question if youre talking about adding types, check the nations on the AIM-9s in the weapons data.ini. if Iran is not there, add to the list of nations if youre talking about adding more than the 4 that come on a Phantom of any nation, that is an edit to the aircrafts data.ini, and will entail alot more work setting postions and trying to get pylons to show up tho if the second is the case, as a diet purist i would say just why.....- 26 replies

possible yes, the KC-135As boom is set by airspeed [Refuel] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_MACH CD0=-0.0010 Setting[1].Angle=0.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=0.00 Setting[1].RetractValue=0.32 Setting[2].Angle=90.0 Setting[2].DeployValue=0.240<<<<<<<<< Setting[2].RetractValue=0.235<<<<<<<<< MaxDeflection=90.0 MinDeflection=0.0 ControlRate=0.5 AnimationID=8 //ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE i set the particular arrowed values on mine because of the hose drogue attachment (a "gunpod set many feet below the tanker"), it gets the boom lined up with the hose and drogue quickly but if the hose and drogue animation are part of the model, no sweat and the speed can be bumped up some if a hose and drogue pod is used, then not so much. but responses are limited V2K, will the hose be a part of teh model, and set to airspeed? That, detective, is the right question -

you know, given how many air forces in SEA did this with captured Japanese aircraft i always wondered why they didnt do the same for the various European air arms. well, on the western side any how. i think Uncle Joe frowned on the new vassal states allies using anything not stamped "Made in the USSR" -
Which Vietnam B-52s Used Underwing Bombs?
daddyairplanes replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i wouldnt say its a hijack, pretty relevant if youre digging into teh why things were only 100 of them built, and the units flying them were working on the below the radar techniques that the others would use up until the 90s. also those Hound Dog pylons after 1966 were more likely to be on an E models than D (until they started being replaced with SRAM in the early 70s) bigger question in my head was how was SAC convinced to allow the D models to be primarily used for conventional bombing in the 60s, when providing central heat and heat in the Communist heartlands was their gospel at the time yeah between Big Belly and Rivet Rambler it was better suited esp. when Linbacker 2 rolled around. But im talking the politics of SAC. Though retiring as CSAF in 1965, Lemay's presence still likely weighed heavy on the USAF in general and SAC in particular Then again Gen MCConnell was a fighter guy originally. great, gotta go back and read the book again -

One other tip i forgot: play with opacity, but almost never have a tga at 100%. For something with bright colors, or a light tga over dark surface i will go 90-95%. On average i go around 70%, but have done dark serial nums on light surfaces as low as 35%. That's what I use, play with it and find whats best for you
