For all warpers who avoid lone wolf missions
Creaghorn replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
probably everyone did besides me because i always skipped lone wolf missions. but since i'm doing a very early british campaign now i wanted to do it realistically (besides warping of course). only thing which is unfortunate that you will never meet lone enemies, or enemy recon twoseaters. i added also some more targets in the lone wolf mission files so i have to photograph the front (by making screenshots) and occasionally deep over enemy lines to photograph troop movements or camps or suspicious buildings or railstations.it's really fun. every now and then i carry a bomb or two just to scare the enemy. -

Does P4 get it's own name?

i wouldn't give a name which mentiones aces, nor knights nor anything of that cliches (i think JFM once also mentioned something like that). most names like that in the past only concentrate of maybe 5% of all people involved and that's not what it should be about and it's IMO kind too hollywoodish and even unfair. the other 95% just get unmentioned. "between heaven and hell" is a superb name IMO because it left out all those cliches. everybody was involved with this name. it should be something which all pilots and observers and mechanics of all sides had in common. no matter if ace or non-ace or just the airmechanic. they were part of a new weapon without earlier experiences. they were learning by doing and were growing with the new task. they were considered crazy to sit into such an aeroplane and carry the war into the air. if they would be supposed to fly, god would have given them wings. what they all had in common was, they were a special bunch of people. over flanders fields: a special bunch -

yes, but then somebody might confuse it with "over (ned) flanders fields", and ask you if it's a kind of simpsons sims -

yeah. actually you are right. but i'm flying the Be2c at the moment, and that series had warp speed. you didn't know that? -
sorry, i don't know which sim you are flying, since the flak in BHAH has about 10 different variants . IMO the flak in BHAH is very good and sounds very realistic. to make it louder of course you just have to raise the effects slider. or if it's on the maximum, then lower all other volume sliders one or two notches and raise the volume of your headset/speakers. in the air something often sounds completely different than on the ground or when standing nearby. a very lot of information gets lost in the air due to windgusts, direction etc. there is simply nothing to carry the complete sound like on the ground. almost no reverb at all. good example is when you are shooting with a rifle. then you hear very much, the bang, the reverb etc. but when you are in the air and hear the same bang, then you would not hear much more like an unspectacular pop, like a chestnut in the fire. same with fireworks. a firework which shoots into the sky and then explodes with all it's effects etc., you rarely hear more then a short pop. no crump or explosion.

maybe everybody knows already, but i found an easy solution to avoid to be sent all over the western front on lone wolf missions, but nonetheless beeing able to warp. usually i avoided lone wolf missions because of the glitch, but now i started a very early british two seater career and i didn't want to fly always in formations for recon jobs etc. so i installed the bletchleys mission-mod. i found out that only the three or four circles to form up and gain height above your airfield is broken. that is what sends you all over the place. probably a typo in a comma or something. so what i do is take off, and skip those first three or four waypoints with shift+w and fly or warp directly to the intended area. then it is like every other sortie with waypoints as in formations. no more strange flying around in flanders

Modifying the cockpit of the N17 (Lewis)

as long as i know you only have to press shift+c and the windscreen is gone -
a little headmovement would add a bit the feeling of flying, but it is not a big factor. if you drive a car or run, then your eyes and brain compensate very very much of the movements. of course you can train it to compensate even more, e.g. i learned that on a catcher popfly one should always run and position himself with closed mouth. the open jaw is a factor which makes the world dance more because it's loose. that's btw. the reason why the chin is such a knockout spot in boxing. because its loose and rattles the head more when getting hit. but the eyes and brain is a great thing which compensates much. it's not like movements caught in a camera, which really shows how much everything moves. i think the bigger factor is the g-force because it makes it harder to focus on something while you suffer it. imagine riding in a car reading a book (not as a driver of course lol), it's not that hard, but when there is a tight turn then your head still is not moving too much, but is much harder to focus. you would stop and wait until the street is straight again.

OT: Germans & French: ARTE presents Lang's "Nibelungen"
Creaghorn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
just kidding. as long as i know he was a great actor in many other movies too. in the first frankenstein he suggested to put out a row of artificial tooth he had so his mouth falls in a bit more. you can see it very well in the second movie (the bride of frankenstein) that his face is a bit wider and more normal since he had to talk in the second one. if i remember correctly from the "making of" of the movies, he once during shoot had to rush to his expecting wive into hospital, with his monstersuit and makeup. it obviously takes many hours to make them and similar long to remove it again. -

boris karloff wore a mask? -
maybe rather have additionally the roll-axis with trackir. that is unfortunately missing. if it would be in, then you would naturally use it like in real, since your neck is not stiff, and that would make aiming tougher, looking around and especially down on the side of your pit more realistic. at least i think it would

btw. did you know that murnau was a fighterpilot in ww1, and it's said that the shadowing and gloomy look in nosferatu was actually his way to catch the overall hostile feeling of ww1, and additionally a kind of therapy for himself to cope with the horrors of ww1 -

nope. but that woul be the first thing i would think of too . @jarhead -
just couple of minutes ago i was sitting on the balcony, drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette, when suddenly two small faces were looking from the railing at me. the first second i thought what ugly birds they are, when i realized them having tails. in fact there were two smallish monkeys sitting on my balconies railing, looking at me. you can imagine my puzzled face. at least in europe the last thing you would expect to suddenly appear 5 feet in front of you is a monkey . anyway. next to my house there are new neighbours since couple weeks and the nanny there clarified the situation. the monkeys belong to them and they managed somehow to escape, but they would return by themselfs at dusk so no problem.

Engine damage questions

also it is a hughe factor what bullet spread is chosen. a second in the line of fire with tight or normal setting is causing much more damage than a second with wide setting. -
Where are our French pilots?
Creaghorn replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
i like those trashmovie nights, especially with classic horromovies. some months ago there was the greek trashmovie "attack of the giant moussaka". . btw. i don't think that dubbing from chinese movies will be necessary. our children will have for sure chinese in school instead of english and french. question is rather cantonese or mandarin?
