Done. But you'll have to delete the external download links from my original post as I can no longer edit that post. -
Weak sounding spandau after HitR expansion?
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It's not possible to edit my posts or I would add new links with your requirements. If you want to delete the external links in my original post that would be fine. I have since uploaded the mod with OBD credit to the OFF section at combatace. I think anyone who wants the file will be able to find it easily there. -
Impressions of Logitech G940 Force Effects
Winston DoRight replied to GregSM's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks Greg. That's exactly what I needed to know. -
It seems that no matter which direction you fly in, it always requires right aileron to correct for the new wind effects. If you take off and fly North you need to input right stick, turn around 180 deg and you'd think there would be a difference but again right stick is needed, as it is for east west as well. What's up with that? You'd think that eventually the wind would blow on you from the opposite direction considering you just changed from North to South and even East to West.

Impressions of Logitech G940 Force Effects
Winston DoRight replied to GregSM's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm interested in getting one of these G940 systems and was wondering what additional axis are available other than <left-right> <up-down> <throttle> <rudder>. I see some wheels on the throttle, are these analog axis or digital programmable? -
Funny thing about the wind
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, funny you should mention that. I did have a similar landing experience where the wind effect was less when approaching from a recriprocal heading. But still I have never had to hold left stick to compensate for wind...... ever. I'll have to try some other craft. So you're saying that you have had to use left stick to counter the wind? Can you give me info so that I may try and duplicate that flight? Date, time, squadron, airfield? -
Funny thing about the wind
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Nope, that's not it. I always trim for level flight at cruise speed. I know that for the Alb DVa I can input 10 keystrokes of right alieron even before takeoff and this produces level flight. With "Hands Off" trim I'm still never in need of any left stick to compensate for the new wind effects. I'll try some Allied craft as soon as my current German pilot bites it and see if there's any difference. -
I'm about ready to re-join you Sunday flyers and was wondering what files are needed to connect. I have the HitR expansion and Madmatts essential files installed but what else am I going to need to avoid mismatches? I've got some minor system issues to workout but should be ready to go for the first Sunday in January.

What is currently needed for MP?
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
Thanks Ax. I'll get on TS soon as I can get it installed. Looks like I need the Vasco files and a bit of 'stick time and I'll be ready! I've been down for wayyyyy to long. -
Weak sounding spandau after HitR expansion?
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This mod is not just a louder sound, it's a completely different gun sound. Of course if you are completely happy with the current spandau sound then by all means continue on in your contentment. I was hoping those who commented would have a least tried it first. Now available in the downloads section here as well. http://forum.combatace.com/topic/51095-spandau-winston-mod-rar/ -

With the release of the Hat in the Ring expansion, the spandau gun sound was changed to a rather weak and puny sounding effect. I found myself fixating on the weak "ticka-ticka-ticka" sound so much that I couldn't concentrate on flying. What a step backwards in my opinion to the great sounding spandau's from the previous patches. I dug into my backup files and pulled the spandau gun .wav from patch 5 and increased the speed(tempo) somewhat to give it a faster rate of fire. Here's my modded .wav file if you want to try it. Install instructions included. -
4 sale: Thrustmaster F-16 HOTAS (for gameport)
Winston DoRight posted a topic in Buy/Sell/Trade Corner
First off, these are gameport devices, not USB. It's been in storage for several years. All worked well when it was disconnected back then, but the pots may need some working in considering the length of inactivity. It does not have the digital conversion. USB adaptors won't work, it's too complex for that. You must have a gameport. Includes: 1. F-16 FLCS joystick 2. F-16 TQS throttle 3. Elite rudder pedals 4. Fox Two Pro programming software 5. Hook-up diagram (also the cable ends are labeled) 6. All cables and adapters, except for these: They cost $3 each and can be found here: http://www.cablesnmo...rd-adapter.html and http://www.cablesnmo...rd-adapter.html Asking $100.00 firm plus shipping (from southern CA, USA). You can ask questions here or for quicker response, email me at: asbestoswecan@yahoo.com for more info or if you have any questions.- 1 reply

4 sale: Thrustmaster F-16 HOTAS (for gameport)
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in Buy/Sell/Trade Corner
SOLD! I'll have another set with the larger RCS rudder pedals available soon, including all manuals and lots of spare parts too! This new set is fully guaranteed, I've been using it myself for years and it's perfect with aftermarket pots, no jumpiness or glitches whatsoever. -
Yes, it is wonderful. I purchased a copy a few years back so I could have my fix anytime I wanted. I'm now revisiting the BBS production "Piece of Cake". I found a copy on DVD at a local flea market. I'm watching quite a bit of TV and video lately waiting for my computer components to come back from repair/replacement from the "Big Burnout of 2009!"

Hey Duck! you could always use the Buy/Sell/Trade Corner at the main Combat ace forum: http://forum.combatace.com/odds-ends-f80.html Keep a lookout for a copy of Win XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit for cheap or swap. Cheers, Winston

Yes, 1.32e seems to fix the distance/loudness faults. Thanks.

some quick links to get you quickly what you need for MP: sitting ducks instructions: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...p;hl=forwarding Madmatts auto installer: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=42089 -
What I've noticed is the sound of flak and artillery is the same level no matter how far or close to you it is. For example if you lower the effects slider to 30 and the flak is far from you, no bursts are near your plane, you can hear it at a low level. Now if the flak bursts are hitting right around your plane, or if you get hit by the flak, the sound of that flak is still at the same low level as when you were far away from it. Also the flak/artillery sound is at the same volume when there is no flak in the air or artillery strikes visible on the ground, as compared to when the flak is visible or arty striking the ground is occuring. I hope I explained that right (double dose of pain meds today) Anyone else get the same? or something different? Is this a limitation of the CFS3 code, not being able to change the sound level in relation to your nearness to it? Nice touch though to have the flak be an indicator of where distant planes are.

I thought the purpose of patches was to improve the game. In the latest 1.32 super patch and mini patch incarnation some nasty features have got me one step away from removing this sim from my hard drive. In my opinion this was a much better simulation a few patches back. It seems like things that don't need fixing are getting changed (for the worse) while other issues are overlooked. Just the other day someone said to me: "Oh great, another patch. This is getting worse than Red Baron." Are you really sure this is a direction you should be going? Changing things that don't need to be changed and fixing things that don't need to be fixed is a giant step backwards and it's sending out the wrong message. People think that OFF is so badly broken that all these patches are needed just to make it work. Each new patch gives the impression that something is very wrong with the product and you're constantly trying to fix it. What I'm hearing from people is this sim is not getting better, you're just changing it to meet your agenda, and by doing so are making it effectively less satisfying for users that have enjoyed this from the beginning. With the latest patchs there are now fewer planes in the players flights, now you're always outnumbered in every sortie no matter which side/squadron/Jasta/date you fly. Who wanted this? Was this a problem in the previous version? Did people complain about how you could select a higher number of planes in your flight and thus make it more even sided? Why didn't you limit the opposing forces to match? And what's up with the objectionable and distracting volume of artillery fire? You're flying along far behind your own lines with no shell strikes visible anywhere around you and you're constantly hearing this. Who wants this? Are you trying to make this sim so difficult and annoying that people won't buy it or current users will stop using it? It's time for you to end this madness and move on to phase 4. You need to step back for a moment and take a hard look at the path you're taking. Please, please no more patches/changes/improvements/disappointments to phase 3. I'm one step away from outta here.

After the super patch and mini patch, why does it give me less planes in my squadrons flights if I select high density, and more planes if I select normal density?
-
Player flight density
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the info. Yes, it seems that in 1.32c with the buttons removed now it seems to generate more flights with 3 wingmen rather than 2 wingmen as it was in 1.32b. -
Never apologize for speaking your mind. There are all too many sheep who gush over every pretty new feature that's introduced while dismissing the problems and complaints of others. If this sim continues in it's current direction someday you'll no longer even have to takeoff before you're destroyed. It'll happen right on the runway!

Why do you hear so much flak and ground guns when there's obviously none near you?

Sunday Multiplayer Sessions Going Forward

I worked on Triumph TR3, TR4, TR4A, TR6, Spitfire, GT6, plus Rover and Morgans back in the 70's. IMHO you've got a great engine/gearbox in that car! Does it have any other TR6 running gear?
