  1. Can't keep In Cloud effect turned off perm

Try ticking the "Disable White Out" box as well. Also check your Workshop to see if it's off there too.
  2. New Nvidia drivers out - 258.96

Installed and tested in Win XP32bit on OFF, PTO, MAW, and ETO and there seems to be no change or improvement in anything whatsoever on my system. Yes, reflections work fine in XP, it's a nvidia problem in Win 7. It's funny that they can't fix it.... or don't care to?
  3. New Nvidia drivers out - 258.96

Have they now fixed the mirrors reflection missing and the cockpit glass non reflective bugs?
  4. Anyone still interested?

Here's the links to all the expansions. I suggest you start with MAW as it's the easiest to install and it's one that we're flying currently. After you get it installed and configured, PM me here and I'll get you on Teamspeak and you can fly with us. We fly every day and on the weekends. OFF mp will start up again in the fall or as soon as people regain interest. 5. BHAH flight model question

It's not you. No one can climb as well as the AI. It's a shortcoming of the original CFS3 game. But you can move this fight into the horizontal. If your enemy insists on climbing, try to drag him away into the horizontal. Or if he insists on trying to out turn you, take the fight into a downward spiral or a vertical maneuver if you are capable of it. If you're up against an enemy with a "one trick pony" style of trying to evade you, make him do something else. On climbing: Often you'll get a better climb rate by keeping your airspeed up. And if you're too slow and the nose high, you may stall and lose all the altitude (and more) you've just gained in the last few minutes. Kinda like two steps forward and one step back.
  6. Do the AI bombers use their bombs?

Try the add-on Gotha. It's a stable bombing platform and has a nice bombsight. You almost can't miss!
  7. square smoke

    Screenshots???
  8. Just ordered this for FSX

Looks like a console game title. Is it all 3rd person?
  9. Nice video. I love the resolution, but hate the "black bars" due to the bezel thickness of the monitors. This would have to be a LOT smaller to get me interested in this technology. You'd think that some manufacturer would develop a super-thin or no-bezel monitor just for this type of application.
  10. Obviously not. In a mumbo-jumbo of links, replies, and quotes of quotes here, looks like I clicked on a different one.
  11. Nice video. Bad idea with the text tho. Why don't you try patching in a mic and give it real narration? That would be an interesting spin; as if we were hearing your thoughts.
  12. Track IR/Snap View Trouble & General Difficulty

    12. Fly with the mindset of just staying alive vs. trying for 5 kills on every mission. Don't take unnecessary risks. If you have the choice of going home or taking on 2 more enemy when you're low on ammo.... just go home. 13. Start a campaign as early in the war as you can and still get a good a/c (Nieuport 17/bis, SE5a, Sopwith Pup..... Albatros DIII and above, DR1). Remember all a/c have realistic abilities and require that you fly them according to their capabilities. 14. Getting shot from the rear a lot? Try flying as a fighter/bomber (Sopwith Strutter flys well and has a rear gunner) This is a hard game, but there's a setting in the workshop for a less aggressive AI. Use it. The skills will come to you eventually, and the medals and promotions too, as you increase your flight time.
  13. Track IR/Snap View Trouble & General Difficulty

    1. Don't dive head first into every single engagement. 2. Pick your fight on your terms. If you're terribly outnumbered, run away to fight another day. 3. Fly as flight leader, and use you wingmen, that's what they're there for. Designate targets for your wingmen using the TAC and the "a" key. 4. Look behind you often, that's what Track IR does best. Don't get fixated on your target, if you're closing and it looks too good to be true.... it probably is. Check six. 5. Gain altitude whenever you can. If you think you're high enough.... go higher. That's where the enemy will usually be. 6. Stay away from the 2 seaters rear guns until you get some advanced skills. 7. If you have the time, plan your attack. Instead of just charging straight at the enemy, send half your wingmen to attack while you fly in from another angle (pincer attack) 8. Get close before shooting. If you think you're close enough... get closer. If you have labels on, you should be within 125 ft. 9. Press the "h" key if you need your wingman to help you out. 10. Practice, practice, practice. 11. More practice. You'll develop the skills, you just have to put time into it, to get results out of it.
  14. Off the shelf... I'm afraid I can't help you out with any advice on what to buy there. It seems the choices would be no-name/proprietary motherboards and other cut rate components, all for the sake of maximum profit margin. I built my current system a year and a half ago for less than $2000 and I made no compromises. Is it possible to find a local builder near you who can build your system with the name brand parts you specify?
  15. New PC Component suggestions

intel only for me. I always use EVGA motherboards and video cards (nvidia). Never a problem/glitch/complaint, or wish I'd done otherwise. They have a great website with the best tech support you can imagine and all drivers and upgrades available for download. Just like my Dad used to say: "Don't be afraid to buy the very best....... you'll always be happy with it." BTW. Some of those nvidia settings at http://www.overflandersfields.com/Tips.htm are not up-to-date and not what nvidia users are currently using.
  16. Huge TrackIR Improvement

Not having any room behind my monitor, I decided to try moving TiR a bit higher. I placed it on top of my center speaker about 7 inches higher than it was before, tilted it down a bit and I did get quite an improvement. Thanks for the tip!
  17. Couple of questions

Tracers missing: Sounds like you are not using the latest version. Check here http://overflandersf...m/Downloads.htm Snap to left: Probably a controllers conflict.
  18. Anyone still interested?

Hello Simon. We are now flying Mediterranean Air War and /or ETO every day. Taking a break from OFF due to the lack of interest. Plus the fact that there's far less lag induced issues with the WW II CFS3 expansions. Did I mention that they're free? MAW is also very easy to install and there's no learning curve because it's just CFS3 on steroids. Would love to have you join us for a rousing episode in our Spits, P-40's and bombers. Make 5 kills and I'll make you a custom skin. It's really the most fun you can have with you're clothes on, and a good diversion until the gang returns to OFF mp. Cheers
  19. Anyone still interested?

I'd love to get OFF mp started up again. It's just that most everyone is out doing other things this time of year with the good weather now in the USA. Loopy, Red-Dog and myself still fly multiplayer every day, although we have taken a break from OFF and now fly the other CFS3 WWII expansions; MAW, PTO and ETO. It's a nice change until the multiplayer bunch returns. I expect when the weather again turns bad there will be renewed interest in staying home, nestled snugly in our cockpits, looking for some fun and mischief. Red-Dogs custom ace P-40 skin Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make History!
  20. CFS3 expansion Mediterranean Air War

We'll still be here when you're ready. I've just added real voice radio communications to some of my MP missions and that is proving to be a real plus to the immersion factor. We are now flying some ETO in addition to MAW and PTO. CFS3 should be readily available in Europe and still cheap as well. Hope you can find a copy and join in the fun.
  21. map freeze

I've found that some "crashes" in OFF or "crashes to desktop" in the CFS3 expansions can be reduce or eliminated by reducing the scenery and terrain sliders by one point from what you're currently using. This has just recently come to our attention after many hours of multiplayer flying. I expect it can be a beneficial tip for single player as well, or at least worth a try for you.
  22. New Nvidia Drivers

I have full reflections and shine in P3, MAW, ETO, PTO, etc. I'm thinking these new drivers only malfunction in Win 7, but I'm keeping my XP 197.xx drivers just in case. I expect nvidia will be working on the Win 7 issues.
  23. New Nvidia Drivers

Winder, are you saying that mirror and glass reflections no longer work in P4 nvidia card systems with Windows XP? Or as we still talking about a Win 7 exclusive problem here? TIA
  24. CFS3 expansion Mediterranean Air War

No problem. We won't be on Monday anyway. Do you have Teamspeak 2 installed? PM me here for the private connect details. Once you're on Teamspeak I'll give you the add-on aircraft we're using.
  25. CFS3 expansion Mediterranean Air War

ndicki, I enjoy your work at SoH very much. You did the best tutorial on making standalones. Thanks for stopping by here with those great screenshots!
