  1. You'll need these for my Saturday MP sessions. Just delete the old R-80 folder and drop in these two new folders. I have made about 12 missions so far and we've only flown 4 of them, so I hope to see you guys on the weekends! Volunteers needed for gunner positions! 2. Twin British Airships

File Name: Twin British Airships File Submitter: Winston DoRight File Submitted: 14 Apr 2010 File Updated: 14 Apr 2010 File Category: Aircraft Models Twin British airships, the R-80 and R-82 for Over Flanders Fields. These are fantasy aircraft for my Saturday multiplayer sessions and are not intended to be historically accurate for OFF as I believe the R-80 was actually a post war airship. Still, they're a lot of fun and are very stable bombing platforms with the new bombsight. They are standalones of the existing Zeppelin and can reside in your aircraft folder along with the Zeppelin. Just unzip the file and place the two folders in your aircraft folder. Basically these are re-skinned Zeppelin standalones, with a new bombsight and weapons loadout. I wish I knew who created the original Zeppelin so I could thank him for a great add-on. Thanks to Stumpjumper for technical assistance and breaking out the bombsight. Thanks to Loopy and Red-Dog for extensive playtesting. I did the skins, loadout and new bombsight reticule. I have several mp missions made up and will share them after my current campaign is finished. More info in the readme file and bombsite tips. Click here to download this file

  4. Windows ReadyBoost

Doesn't work on XP. XP does not support pages files on removable devices. After the reboot it sets the page file back to a hard drive.
  5. We will be flying the Allied airship missions again on Sunday 11 April starting at 10:00am PDT. I'll be online at 09:00am in case anyone needs a checkout first.
  6. Quick scenario - camels and DR-1's

Simply engage auto-trim. It instantly tames the Camels tendency to pitch up violently. Make sure you turn it off before you use warp.
  7. It takes quite a bit of damage. Today I flew a MP test mission and was attacked by about 5 Albatros DIII's. My AI escort was tardy as usual, and I received quite a few hits but continued on my bombing run. After I dropped my bombs I jumped into the gun positions and drove them off while still receiving more damage. The escort showed up and saved me and I flew back home OK. Only trouble is that it's BIG and SLOW and an easy target for AA guns! I'll be uploading it soon. I've discovered another loadout problem and will fix that first. Right now it's OK for MP, but I want it to be perfect before releasing it. This is a standalone of the existing Zeppelin by Stumpjumper and myself. I did the cloning and the skin and Stump did the new bombsight and the loadout. It resides in the game with the Zeppelin so I'll be having a Zeppelin vs. R-80 battle in MP soon. Stump is working on a unique new Allied airship as well. It should be quite a treat when done and will look totally different from the Zeppelin.
  8. After much bombing practice in the R-80 against shipping, I found two problems with the first model that I uploaded. 1. the bombsite reticule was obscuring too much of the target from 10,000 ft. 2. the bomb loadout was insufficient to severly damage or destroy ships. This has been fixed in the final version, thanks again to Stumpjumper. Here's the FINAL R-80 upload. Please delete the other folder before dropping this one into your aircraft folder. If you already have the Short, don't bother with downloading it again. http://drop.io/ktquf3r Hope to see you guys on Saturday and Sunday. The first 3 missions are done and were a blast in playtesting.
  9. *** The FINAL R-80 for Saturday Sessions ***

The files are: New-AAA_R-80.zip ----- this is the required new version of the Allied Airship. aaashort_184_armed.zip ----- this is the required Short torpedo plane (it's the same as the original, if you already have it you have the right one) Loopy-Bombing-R80.xml ----- This is a practice mission for the torpedo plane and the R-80, just change the player a/c in mission builder to the Short or the R-80, whichever you want. Then when done in missions builder, manually edit the R-80 and Short info as follows: R-80 1. Make sure the speed is 50 2. Change the altitude to 3200m Bombing tips: Soon as the mission starts, set your mixture and make sure you're at 100% throttle. You'll be at 10,500ft so quickly trim the ship to fly level at this altitude. Do not drop below 10,000ft. Make your heading changes with about half rudder deflection. Approach the ships from behind. Use small rudder application to fine tune your approach. When the ships appear in your bombsight, line up with a column and release when the "center to slightly forward of center" spot on one of the ships appears centered in the peep reticule of the bombsight. Do not release on the smokestack as it is aft on the ship and your bombs will most likely fall short. Stay in the bombsight view, press F3 to turn off the reticule and you will see your bombs falling and impact. Adjust your tactics for your own personal gain just remember not to get below 10,000 ft or you'll be a big, slow, and easy target for the AA on the ships. Short 1. Make sure the speed is 50 2. Change the altitude to 1000m Have fun! Are you joining us this weekend Vasco?
  10. *** The FINAL R-80 for Saturday Sessions ***

Saturday's mission briefing: Our highly decorated squadron based at Walmer has been tasked with the protection of our new Airship. We leave at dawn to rendesvous with the R-80 which is enroute to attack a German convoy that was spotted sneaking up the Channel last night. The R-80 will bomb from 10,000 ft altitude where it is safe from AA fire from the enemy ships. Sopwith Pups will escort the R-80. SE5a's will provide additional protection and carry bombs to further damage the convoy if possible. We takeoff at dawn. Get some rest boys.
  11. Video: Escadrille Americaine

I'm amazed at the smoothness and high framerate of your videos. My only experience with FRAPS yielded a mere 8fps. What program do you use?
  12. First I'd like to give a big THANKS to Stumpjumper for all the help with my Allied Airship and for creating the new bombsight. Stump is designing a new Allied airship and when it's done we will have something truly unique and different from the Zeppelin. Until then we'll go with my standalone conversion/repaint of the Zeppelin. After all we did capture one in our last campaign. I've had a blast over the past few days flying this beast and learning how to bomb with it. If anyone wants to fly it in our missions, you'll find it quite formidable. You may or may not already have the Short, here's the download links for the R-80 and the Short torpedo plane: http://drop.io/lo8wv5w I'll be on teamspeak all week from 10am to 4pm PDT if anyone needs a checkout.
  13. Must have a/c for Saturday MP sessions 10 April

No problem Beard. We can always fly the missions again someday. Also I've found a small problem with the R-80's bombsite (which I've already fixed) and the bomb loadout (Stump will be working on this right away). Unfortunately it will require an upload of a new Allied airship file, so if you haven't downloaded the other one, don't bother. I'll have the new file up ASAP.
  14. In our last mini-campaign we captured an enemy airfield and took possession of the Zeppelin that was based there. After a few repairs and a new paint job, we're ready to put it to use against enemy shipping in the channel. We'll mostly fly escort missions in our Sopwith Pups, but I may have a few surprise missions later on. Also, the Squadron Commander is looking for a pilot for our new craft. Anyone with airship experience is asked to step forward. The new campaign starts on Saturday 10 April at 10:00 am pacific daylight time. Be sure to get on teamspeak on-time or stop by during the week to download a few new extra files you'll need. New players welcome, but please get a checkout before Saturday. Here's a preview video. http://tinypic.com/r/9zrq04/5 or http://www.zshare.ne...65680264e9304e/
  15. (Video) New mini-campaign starts 10 April

I'll also be online this Sunday. If there's nothing better to do we can fly Saturdays missions again.
  16. (Video) New mini-campaign starts 10 April

The great thing about the Saturday sessions is that we plan on having them for quite sometime to come. Get a checkout and drop by anytime you can, whenever you can, stay as long as you can, and leave whenever you need to. There's no strings attached to my MP Saturdays, and "No Pilot left behind". Which means we will work with you on your checkout to make sure you have all the files needed and can connect properly.
  17. If you're looking for an older game, here's a download company that offers low prices, NO DRM, and NO online requirement for play. Please support them if you are looking for older titles. http://www.gog.com/

  19. (Video) New mini-campaign starts 10 April

That's 1:00pm right coast time. I'll also be making the downloads available here instead of teamspeak. Look for my post here in the MP topic as soon as they're ready.
  20. Due to poor turnouts lately on Saturdays and the fact that I have the opportunity to get out and get some sunshine myself, I won't be hosting the Saturday session this weekend. I encourage flyers who can still make it to please continue and perhaps share the hosting duties? I'll return on 10 Apr with a new mini-campaign if all goes well with the new project by Stumpjumper. More info as it develops.
  21. No formal Saturday session

No problem. The start of the next mini-campaign may be delayed a bit anyway. I'm not sure I have enough time to get it all together and do a proper job.
  22. Problems in downloading HitRing

Your HitR downloaded zip file should be 418,906 KB. If that's what you got then try shutting down your computer, wating a few minutes, then restart. Somethings not working right.
  23. update on the stumper

Loopy, Red-Dog and I are on most every day of the week and since there's no formal sessions scheduled for Sundays right now, we were on this day as well! Would have loved to have you join. I just thought you were off doing other things like most of the Saturday players have been lately with the good weather that just arrived. On Sundays we plan on sharing the hosting duties and flying some of our newly designed missions until you're ready to host another campaign or maybe a mini-campaign. Loopy and Red-Dog have been a valuable resource for me to test my mission building skills. I've not yet put up any of my custom missions for the Saturday sessions without testing them extensively during the week with my expert play-testers and equally expery pilots. A note to everyone: OFF and PTO multiplayer sessions are held daily from about 10-11 am Pacific daylight time to when the last player has to leave. If someone wants an evening session or a checkout, just let me know.
  24. On Winston's Saturday sessions beginning Saturday 20 March, I will host a fantasy 4 part mini campaign. These will be rather long missions and different from what we've been previously flying. I'm hoping for a good turnout, the more human players we have the better our chances for success. There's still time to get new players checked out before Saturday, just follow the necessary steps in the sticky post on the general discussion topic page or check the OFF calendar for the info. Then contact me or drop by teamspeak Tues through Fri for a checkout. Synopsis: We all volunteered for this assignment and have been training hard for the last few months. Today word has finally come down from HQ about our upcoming mission. We must destroy or severely damage an enemy aviation gas refinery far behind enemy lines. HQ has determined that this would greatly reduce the enemys aircraft presence in the south and with fewer enemy aircraft in the air we could launch larger offensives and perhaps shorten this bloody war. 1st mission briefing: We will ferry our Sopwith Pups from Fontaine airbase to Friedrichshafen airbase in the mountains to the southeast. Friedrichshafen was just recently captured from the enemy and is in a perfect location to launch our offensive from. We are expecting our new Sopwith Camels soon, but until they arrive we will continue to rely on our trusty Pups. We've been issued a double ration of Ale today, bottoms up and go get some well deserved rest. We depart at dawn on saturday. And by the way, sorry about this but there is to be absolutely no contact with the local civilians from now until we depart.
  25. Saturday multiplayer mini campaign

Today we flew mission 3 to attack the refinery and destroyed much of it. Then in the final mission, we were attacked at our home base by the Germans who were furious that we attacked their precious refinery. We scrambled to intercept 2 flights of bombers and 3 flights of scouts. All enemy were shot down except for 3 DFW CV's who managed to escape. Little damage was done to our airfield. Photo's 1 & 2: The refinery after our attack. Photo 3: Vasco was hit by AA on his first bombing run. I'll be away next Saturday, then we'll continue the following Saturday with a new mini-campaign (more news on this later). If somebody wants to host next week in my absence, that would be great.
