Here in the (roughly) Cape Cod area in southern Massachusetts, we have sunshine predicted for the next two days. It's looks like 'Irene' petered out.

Maybe all of the above? Trying to get my chops back, trying to get adjusted to TrackIR, I'm in a Sopwith Pup with four Albatros D.II's. I've been picking out one and concentrating on him; totally ignoring the other three on the assumption that (wait for it!) the pilot can't die. Every time, I get my butt handed to me. 'Top wing tends to go away first followed by much flame from the engine. As per Pol's advice, I went to Workshop and found "Pilot Can't Die" was not checked. Corrected that and went up one more time before calling it a night. 'Lasted mere minutes. This is not a big deal. I could just take 'em on one at a time for practice. But it's a bad habit to ignore what's happening on your six.There's got to be a simple solution.

Not too bad. Just another rainstorm so far. I'm sorta' on the place where Cape Cod joins the mainland. Just got off the phone with a buddy in Philadelphia and he says the same.

Now I've got a great joystick, TrackIR is working, and I go to Quick Combat to get back in the game. To allow myself some slack, I check "Pilot Never Dies". But I do. Every time. Did HITR disable this feature?

It was one of those books that was very funny, but didn't translate onto the movie screen all that well.

Well, moderately famous. It's from "The Magic Christian", first a book by Terry Southern, then a film with Peter Sellars as Guy Grand, a man so obscenely rich that he could blow huge fortunes on outrageous pranks. Ringo Starr as his nephew.

I've read from several sources that when the RFC discovered how dangerous it was to go head-to-head with the Dr.i's, they simply ignored them. If the Dr.i's weren't in the right position with an altitude advantage, they couldn't engage.

I stumbled onto a Yahoo link (stars and stop motion) that had outstanding music. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/jaw-droppingly-gorgeous-video-captures-milky-way-earth-234619211.html I followed up on the music credits. Turns out to be a guy named Simon Wilkinson in the UK. Operates a company called "The Blue Mask". He's written for big-name TV and movies. There are bunches of clips available. There are scads of down-loadable, low-cost, stirring music clips there at very low cost, plus a .99cent license fee. Very professional sounding stuff for those of us who need (or will need) music for furious furball action FRAPS movies.

Thanks Olham. I'm afraid this was all a bit of a false alarm. After looking at the UI one more time, I realized I had selected the older hat-mounted 3-reflector. Once I changed to the Track Clip Pro, my problem was solved. (I love simple solutions, but feel like a jerk for not seeing that in the first place)

Well...close for a while . The three-reflector part of the clip kept falling out. (plastic fatigue?) So I used a drop of Gorilla Glue to 'pot' it into its holder. Bad idea. That rotation is needed. When I realized that I was never going to get the three dots centered again, I broke down and bought a new clip. Got it today. Now, when the dots are centered, I get great movement-follow as I move my head up and down, and to the right. However; any movement to the left inverts the head in the 3-view (and presumably in the air.) I tried selecting "YAW" and clicking all the 'mirror' and 'invert' boxes, one at a time, both and neither. Nothing changes. Only motion to the left is wonky. Tried 'Default" plus other profiles. I'm running out of boxes to click.

I was waiting for a view over the top. Also, the very 'sepia' look to the opening frames made me assume that this was actually WWI footage and I figured, "OK, it's WWI and cameras are bulky; maybe he has to hold it between his knees." then it turned to color and I thought, "Well, there was some color photography in 1917", but when I could see the airport below...the game was up. The only thing to wait for was the guns going off. Still interesting. Sure was windy back there.

As if the others weren't big enough...here's real ones? (!) Beautiful stuff.

That one had me scratching my head too. Until I saw the side-view and could read the fuselage. I built a lot of stick-and-paper planes as a kid (Comet kits. SPAD's, D-7's, SE-5's, and Nieup 28's. 10cents each. You got two thin sheets of balsa with printed formers, a bunch on straight sticks, and some colored tissue paper. Then you bought glue:Testor's, or LePage's, also 10cents, and paint: Testor's Dope, again 10cents a bottle. I built hundreds of them.) These planes shown above are what I fantasized about. They were really scale, really big, and really flew RC. This is end-of-the-rainbow modeling!

In 80%, or better, of occasions when Focke-Wulf is mentioned, it is simply "fok-wulf". But there are those times when it sounds like a commentator is really straining for ultra-authentic-accent-ness, and it comes out "fok eh_wulf". My querry is: in German, is the final 'e' in 'Focke' pronounced or not? For the few times narrators opt for the last 'e', it sounds very strange.

Cool, but a bit disappointing. I kept watching the two other planes stalk him. One seems to have been a Dr.I. I kept waiting for our guy to shoot. How can you make a rear-gunner movie with no shooting?

I can just hear them rejoicing: "Thank God! At last we get something "modern" to fly.

900 meters!! Bloody Hell!

The Pfalz must have been damned near lethal to fly if they considered the E.III to be a step up.
