  4. Long before the F-14EJ Hyo became part of the JMSDF, allowing the JMSDF to obtain their first carrier after WWII, the japanese Navy wanted to start using planes for coastal defense. Although the JASDF was tasked to protect Japan from foreign aggressors, the high command of the JMSDF wanted to be more "free" from the chain of command. A bit renegade at first glance, the ministry of defense thought that it would enable a much faster response to a threat. In spite of not having fast and agile planes, the JMSDF relied on the capabilities of strike aircraft for anti-ship action, enabling strikes and interceptions of possible incoming invasion fleets. In order to achieve this, the ministry of defense ordered more than 200 of A-6 and A-7 class planes, which were got delivered in the beginning of the 1970s and fitted to the needs of the JMSDF. The A-6M (JMSDF-designation for the Intruder) raised polemics among the american hardliners due to it's referring to the ZERO, the feared interceptor from the last war. Japan only replied: "If you would take a closer look on the writing, you would notice that the new plane is written with a hyphen between the A and the 6, while the Zero was not." Both planes were taken out of commision in 1994 and did not do service on the Varukiri, the new japanese carrier.
  5. Hmmm...did not check it yet. Will do.

  9. Hey Eric That Super Hornet looks great. Keep up the good work.
  10. After three conflicts with heavy losses, the iraqi air force got almost completely destroyed. The fall of Saddam Hussein and the political system turning from dictatorship to democracy made it necessary to accept foreign help in reconstructing the country. This also meant the rebuilding of the air force. In this matter, a meeting of actual british prime minister and his colleague in the iraqi government took place in London, where a contract was meant to be signed about the purchase of 60 new, to the needs of the iraqi air force adapted, Typhoons. Along with the Typhoons, Iraq signed a contract with Russia for the purchase of 60 Super Flanker with the designation SU-35IQ Asifat al Turab (Sandstorm). These Super Flankers are supposed to be delivered in 2012 tremendously enhancing the iraqi interception capabilities. The digital camo of the Flanker is used with special allowance of the US government, which recognized a great similarity to their own camo
  11. The change in the government of North Korea (KJI jr. substituting his father) led to a fear from a neighbour who was continuing his nuclear weapon program and becoming an unstable factor in the surroundings of Japan. China, the big brother to NK, kept influencing KJI not to try anything that could lead to a greater war in the far east. Although Pyongyang assures not to threaten peace in Eastern Asia, the ministry of defense of Japan decided to act. The ministry of defense created a new squadron, the 65th Hikotai, stationed in Miho. The squadron badge was composed by a classic origami figure. The decision on which plane to choose for this new squadron did not take long. Two russian MiG-29 were forced to land in Japan because one of them suffered engine problems. The JASDF used this opportunity to take a closer look on this plane. It's easy maintenance and the low demand of time needed to get the plane ready were the main reasons for choosing the plane. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries modified the plane to make it a better striker, adding an japanese version of the ATFLIR used by the Super Hornet and an ASQ-173 Targeting Pod to it's fuselage. MHI also added internal ECM-Systems. Apart from the 65th, also the 501st Hikotai got equipped with the Naito (Knight).
  12. I know that, but a colleague of mine said that the iraqi people likes the older flag more. He is iraqi. The downloadable version will have both flags in it, so everyone can choose the one he likes most.

In this matter, a meeting of actual british prime minister and his colleague in the iraqi government took place in London, where a contract was meant to be signed about the purchase of 60 new, to the needs of the iraqi air force adapted, Typhoons. The modifications were, among others: - added CFTs on the fuselage for the enhancement of the range - highly upgraded ECM and electronic warfare systems - modified engines with higher thrust - use of western armament The most important upgrade, the CFTs, were necessary due to the fact that the Al I'ssars (iraqi for Typhoon) had to takeoff from Bagdad and Al Sahra and had to travel a long way before reaching their patrolling routes. Along with the Typhoons, Iraq signed a contract with Russia for the purchase of 60 Super Flanker with the designation SU-35IQ Asifat al Turab (Sandstorm). 14. After the "carnation revolution" in 1974 which led to the fall of the dictatorship in Portugal, the portuguese air force got reorganized like the rest of the country. Since Portugal became a democracy, the western allies supported the change in offering the FAP the Phantom for a good price. The 301st squadron received the Dragão, the portuguese Draken, the 201st got equipped with the 'Fantasma'. Although being a fighter-squadron, the 201st reserved the groundattacking capabilities. The Phantom became part of the portuguese air force in 1974 and was taken out of service in 1999 in favour of the MiG-29EE.
  15. After having had good experiences with the Shu'Al, the israeli MiG-29, the IDF sought another possiblity of obtaining the latest russian fighter aircraft as a multirole plane for it's squadrons. Since the PAK-FA was not yet available and far too expensive, the minister of defense wanted a possibility of acquiring the Super Flanker. Representatives of the russian government and military assessors went to Israel with some of the SU-35s to enable israeli pilots to test the plane. One light-headed pilot trying to perform the Pugachev Cobra almost led to the loss of one plane. The pilot got grounded. Israel and Russia signed a contract for 48 Su-35 which had to be delivered to IAI for the proper modifications. The US saw this deal with some worries fearing of losing the first position as a supplier to the IDF. Nevertheless the US got the possibility of having a closer look at the plane, since IAI needed some systems to be adapted to the silhouette of the plane. The 105th and the 109th squadron got equipped with this plane which is supposed to enter service in 2012. Awaiting permission for takeoff Guarding the homeland The Scorpion
  16. Do you mean the the three tone camo or the one with the scorpion on it?
  17. As a replacement for the Super Etendards, France hoped to sell their newest plane, the Rafale, to the argentinian Navy. Although the deal was almost signed, a sudden offer from the russian government made the argentinian minister of defense change his mind. The Rafale was mainly a carrier-based plane and Argentina did not have a carrier. Sukhoi offered two entire squadrons including spare parts at a price considerably below the Rafale. Necessary modifications were conducted by the local manufacturer FMA in Córdoba. After having refused to the contract with France, the diplomatic relationship suffered severely. France no longer supplied Argentina with weapons, forcing the ministry of defense of choosing american armament for their planes. The use of russian armament was also taken into consideration, but not pursued due to the lack of relability compared to US weapons. Until the first missiles arrived, the Condors used up the french armament remaining. The Condor entered service in 2010 in the 1st and the 3rd squadron. Approaching target Launch!

This is a mod of the JAS-39C from the Gripen Team to make it look like fighterplane from the japanese air self defense force. BACKGROUND: After having had good experiences during the first joint venture between SAAB and Mitsubishi and the high grade of acception of the japanese Draken by the JASDF-Pilots, the ministry of defense initiated a new joint venture. The swedish Gripen was now to be "nipponized". Pilots of the JASDF went to Sweden to fly the Gripen and push her to the limit, testing her capabilities. The Pilots were amazed how easy it was to fly the Gripen. Back in Japan, the Pilots reported their experiences to their superiors what led to an order of 120 planes, mainly single-seater. The first planes arrived during the first months of 2006, were they had to undergo changes in electronics, adapting them to japanese JASDF-Standards. The 8th Hikotai and the 305th Hikotai were the first squadrons receiving the Gripen. This plane was the first wearing the new JAMPAT-Camo in service. INSTALLATION: Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder. CREDITS: VERY VERY BIG THANKS TO GUX FOR ALLOWING ME TO RELEASE THIS PLANE! Thanks to Brain32 for adapting the plane to SF2-Standards! ORIGINAL CREDITS: Model, Weps and Skins by Gux FM by Column5 Avionics by Moonjumper and Jat Testing by USAFMTL Enjoy... NazGhul
  19. That's an interesting idea. Well done mate
  20. As a replacement for the ageing F-4s, the JASDF was looking a suitable replacement. Several different types were taken into consideration, but the ministry of defense decided to take SU-30s and SU-35s. The diplomatic and economic relations between Japan and Russia also became positively influenced by this contract. The first planes were delivered in 2007 and started to replace the 'Kai' in the japanese air self defense forces. While the Takas did not receive special camos, two of the three hikotais receiving the SU-35 painted their planes in special camos. A Taka from the 204th Hikotai in JAMPAT-Camo 23rd Hikotai in plain grey 304th Hikotai wears Navy blue NOTE: THIS PLANE WILL BE AN UPDATE FOR THE PLANE AVAILABLE HERE: http://combatace.com/files/file/11968-fictional-mitsubishi-f-6-zero-ii/ I've decided to update the planes since I was not entirely happy with the result.
