  7. Being impressed of the interception capabilities of the F-14 combined with the AIM-54 Phoenix, the IDF decided to order themselves a modified version of the F-14B, the bombing capable version of the Tomcat. Modifications were performed by IAI. The modifications also needed the AIM-54C to be modified. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the national arms manufacturer, created, based on the construction plans of the Phoenix, the 'Serpent' LRAAM, which design was identical to the Phoenix but with israeli electronics inside. The missile was extensely tested over the mediterranean sea and proofed to be equal to the AIM-54 concerning performance, reliability and accuracy. Primary role was the interception of incoming enemy planes from seaside long before reaching the coast and secondary role was Strike and Ant-Ship-Missions. This is a mod of the Super Hornet F from EricJ to make it look like a plane from the israeli air force. BACKGROUND: In the final years of the first decade of the 21st century, Israel decided to replace their F-16C and D-Models (Barak) with a new type of fighter/bomber. The only really fitting model for type of missions was the FA-18 Super Hornet. The decision of either taking the E or F-model was decided in favor of the F-model due to the fact that two crewmembers would bring a better performance during the missions. The squadrons of the IAF equipped with the adapted Version, the Akav, were the 116th Squadron "Defenders of the South" and the 140th Squadron, "The Golden Eagle". INSTALLATION: Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder. CREDITS: EricJ – Purchased Model of F/A-18F from http://www.mesh-factory.com, Main texture artist, ini editing. File Name: [Fictional] Mirage 2000BE (CB.27) "Espada" (Sword) File Submitter: ValAstur File Submitted: 19 January 2012 File Category: What If Hangar A Mod of the Mirage 2000B from Amokfloo and JAT81500 to make it look like a fictional fighter for the spanish air force. BACKGROUND According to EESP (European Economic Stability Protocol) signed in the middle of 2012 in Brussels by the 27 partners of the EU, the countries with a high rate of debt (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal etc.) had to execute all measures necessary in order to reduce their debts. In article 12 "About the defense of the homeland", the countries of the EU constituted that all redundant units had to be dissolved and the equipment to be sold. Furthermore, the armies of the affected countries had to change their "non-european" equipment for european equipment. Spain had therefore to sell their US fighterplanes and replace them by european ones. In exchange, the equipment will be cheaper than for standard customers from outside the EU. The F-18Cs got sold back to the US. The mayor manufacturers of fighters in Europe were Dassault, Saab and the Eurofighter Corporation. The spanish air force decided to order the Mirage 2000 for the Ala 46, stationed on the Canary Islands. Two wings were equipped with the Mirage 2000-5F, renamed E (local designation: C-27) and one wing received the Mirage 2000B, renamed BE (local designation: CB-27) INSTRUCTIONS 1. Drop the folders into your MODS Folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes. ORIGINAL CREDITS 3D model: Amokfloo, reworked by JAT81500. Templates: Amokfloo. Cockpit, pilots and fuel tanks: The Mirage Factory. Skins: ludo.m54 Decals: ludo.m54 and Ghostrider883. Sounds: Couby, Oxyd, Dassault Aviation. The portuguese air force decided to replace the Vipers from the 301st with Gripens and the ones from the 201st with Mirage 2000B fulfilling in that way the need of a capable multirole fighter-bomber. Both planes started to be delivered at the end of 2012, being fully operational in the early 2013. Portugal and Spain, in addition to several other countries, recognized the effectiveness of a digital camo and elaborated their own grey-scaled digital camo. File Name: [Fictional] SAAB/IAI JAS39I Kherev (Sword) File Submitter: ValAstur File Submitted: 15 January 2012 File Category: What If Hangar This is a mod of the JAS-39C from the Gripen Team to make it look like fighterplane for the israeli air force. BACKGROUND: Israel, although not being part of the european community (not even being on the european continent) was almost always treated like being an european country. After the EESP-signment, Israel offered Italy and Greece to replace their Vipers with Barak- and Sufa-Versions from IAI. In exchange and tying in with the cooperation concerning the Chez (israeli Draken), the IDF wanted the Gripen as a replacement for their aged Ahit. The EU was ok with that treaty and allowed Italy to exchange their planes. Greece refused and decided in favor of the Gripen and the EF-2000 Typhoon. At the end of 2012, Israeli received their ordered planes and named them 'Kherev' (Sword). From the 72 ordered planes, 16 were two-seaters. The Kherev was the first plane in the IDF to receive a digital camo. INSTALLATION: Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder. 23. What if... the Iron Curtain never fell? If the Warsaw Pact, the Soviet Union and East Germany never ceased existing? In 1989 the negotiations for the unification of both Germanies failed. Gorbachov, fearing a mayor allied presence in Western Germany, decided to reinforce their next ally, the GDR. The NVA received the newest russian technology and the borders to the West got reinforced by several additional battallions of MBTs and Infantry. In order to establish a stabile situation in the GDR, the CPSU decided to bring into action a plan for employment and growth of economy in that country. Also, the travelling restrictions got lowered making possible easier visits from east to west and viceversa. The people of the GDR cheered up and the economy experienced an additional growth. And the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, the cold war was still alive. The CPSU allowed the LSK (East German Air Force) the purchase of the newest fighter, the SU-35. Three fighter squadrons obtained the plane which first objective was to show the west that the east was able to secure its borders. The SU-35 in LSK Camo In LSK Silver Patrolling the Iron Curtain
