EFJ Hariken
ValAstur posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
In March 2007, the JASDF opened a competition for the next generation plane. Among the competitors are the Super Hornet, the F-35 and the Typhoon. The Rafale was not part of the competition because of the fear, that american planes could be favourized. Nevertheless, Eurofighter threw the Typhoon into competition. There will be no decision until November 2011(Janes Information Group). The EFJ Hariken (Hurricane) represents a possible version of the japanese Typhoon in the case it should become the winner of the competition. The plane will enter service in 2013 becoming part of the 3rd and the 6th Hikotai, replacing the single-seater F-2. While the 3rd Hikotai wears the standard grey camo, the 6th Hikotai will display a new version of the two colour blue pattern, called "JAMPAT" (JApanese Maritime PATtern), an adapted form of the US Navy Camo. Boeing/Mitsubishi FA-18FJ Suzumebachi
ValAstur posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
In 2011, the actual minister of defense, Toshimi Kitazawa, wanted the air force to be more powerful and well equipped than they are now. Even the F-2 and the F-15J and DJ seemed not to be modern enough. Kitazawa was of the opinion, with the rising of China and the becoming dangerous of northern Korea, the air force as main line of defense had to be strong and powerful. During that same year, Japan and the US signed a contract over more than 120 planes, primarily F-Type, of the Super Hornet. Being modified by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for being capable of using the modern japanese missiles, the Hornet received the same name, but in japanese: Suzumebachi. Being odd at first sight, the new aggressor camo of the first squadron to receive the plane reflects the mood of its pilots, showing the enemy that there will be no retreat..just like Samurai. The unperfect camo concerning some stains along the colour borders are wanted and shall recall the japanese calligraphy. The first planes will enter service in 2012 in the 301st, 303rd, 306th and 501st Hikotai. Aggressor camo Standard grey camo -

File Name: [Fictional] IAI/Grumman F-14I Petten (Cobra) File Submitter: ValAstur File Submitted: 28 August 2011 File Category: What If Hangar This is a mod of TMF's F-14B (96) to make it look like a multirole aircraft from the israeli air force. BACKGROUND: Being impressed of the interception capabilities of the F-14 combined with the AIM-54 Phoenix, the IDF decided to order themselves a modified version of the F-14B, the bombing capable version of the Tomcat. Modifications were performed by IAI. The modifications also needed the AIM-54C to be modified. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the national arms manufacturer, created, based on the construction plans of the Phoenix, the 'Serpent' LRAAM, which design was identical to the Phoenix but with israeli electronics inside. The missile was extensely tested over the mediterranean sea and proofed to be equal to the AIM-54 concerning performance, reliability and accuracy. Primary role was the interception of incoming enemy planes from seaside long before reaching the coast and secondary role was Strike and Anti-Ship-Missions. Two squadrons got equipped with the 'Peten': The Valley Squadron (109th) grey camo Flying Dragon Squadron (115th) desert camo INSTALLATION: Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder. CREDITS: Model: Flying Toaster, BPAo Skins and Flight Model: column5 Cockpit: Chris Avionics: MoonJumper Pilots: Diego Extra Hangar and Loading Screens: USAFMTL Testing: The Mirage Factory Big Thanks to Sony Tuckson for allowing me to release this mod. IMPORTANT: THE SKINS ARE COVERED BY THE FREEWARE LICENSING AGREEMENT WHILE THE PLANE STILL NEEDS A PERMISSION FROM TMF TO BECOME MODIFIED; ALSO APPLIES TO THIS VERSION. Dedicated to BPAo. Don't exactly get what you mean. This plane is considered to have been used between 1996 and 2006. AIM-54 was retired in 2004. So why would be the use of BVR would be against NATO and Geneva? And since it is a what if, I don't think this has to be considered or am I wrong? -

skinning guide
ValAstur replied to firehawk66's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
You have to assure that the bmp is saved as a 24-bit bmp-file. Otherwise you will get the black skin. Concerning the file-names: Look into a folder of a camo inside the main plane folder. there you will find some bmp-files. Check that the modified bmp-file gets the exact name. An example: if one file inside the folder is named "wings.bmp", the correspondent file has to be named "wings.bmp" too. Otherwise it won't function. If you are not sure, send me the link to the plane you want to create the skin for and the your files and I will look it up. -

YOU WILL NEED BOTH SF2:E AND SF2:I AT LEAST TO GET THIS PLANE RUNNING! BACKGROUND In the end of the 1960s, the HA.210 Hidalgo got outdated due to the appearance of new fighters and weapons. The new Semi-Active Homing-Technology made the Hidalgo a easy target for medium and long-range attacks. A new fighter, able of carrying the allied equivalent, tha AIM-7 Sparrow, was needed. Hispano-Suiza and CASA competed in the production of this new plane. Hispano-Suiza won the competition with the fighter called "Trueno". The design was sleak but robust. The maiden-flight of the plane was on the 21st of January of 1971 and the 111th and 113th squadron were supplied with this plane in December of the same year. INSTRUCTIONS 1. File Name: [Fictional] IAI/McDonnellDouglas Ze'ev (Wolf) File Submitter: ValAstur File Submitted: 17 August 2011 File Category: What If Hangar This is a mod of Bobrocks Av-8B+ to make it look like a plane from the israeli air force. THIS MOD IS FOR A FULL MERGED INSTALL OR AT LEAST SF2:E AND SF2:I. OTHERWISE THE PLANE WON'T FUNCTION PROPERLY. BACKGROUND: After Desert Storm in 1991, the high command of the israeli air force recognized the need of a carrier-based strike force to improve their reaction capabilities in a modern conflict. For this aim, the purchase of two french aircraft carriers of the Clemenceau-class was planned. As aircraft for the carriers, the IDF wanted an adaptated version of the AV-8B+. In 1994, the carrier purchase was cancelled due to budget restrictions, but the adapted Harrier called Ze'ev was kept and did service in the 193th Squadron. INSTALLATION: Simply drop the Folders into your Strike Fighters Mods Folder. CREDITS: Many thanks to bobrock and all the others involved in this great model! Also special thanks to Brain32 for adapting it to SF2-Standards. Enjoy. NazGhul Click here to download this file -

IAI/Mikoyan Gurevych MiG-29I Shu'Al (Fox) for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 (Israel or Merged) I modded the MiG-29 from The Mirage Factory to make it look like a fictional fighter and recon plane for the israeli air force. BACKGROUND During the first Iraq War in 1991, a group of iraqi MiG-29 decided to desert trying to escape the fate their comrades faced against the overwhelming power of the USAF, US Navy and their allies. Their escape ended over the Golan Heights, where they were intercepted by a entire squadron of F-15 Baz and F-16 Netz patrolling. Due to some misunderstanding between the deserters and the defending pilots, two MiG-29 were shot down and the remaining ones got escorted to the Ramat David Airbase. Israel handed the pilots over to the US for further interrogation and kept the MiGs for studies. The capabilities of the plane convinced the commanders of the IDF. Israel offered Mikoyan Gurevych a offer for the license they could not refuse to accept, since MiG suffered a lot financially after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The MiG-29 was modified by IAI. Two years later, the first MiG-29I Shu'Al did it's maiden flight on the 24th of June 1993. INSTRUCTIONS 1. Drop the folders into your MODS Folder. If asked to overwrite, click yes. CREDITS All credit belongs to ALL the members of The Mirage Factory for their fantastic work they did with this model. Special credit goes to Oliver Anguille for his effort and hard work. May he rest in peace. Also big thanks to dast24 for porting the plane to SF2-Standards. A job well done. Old readme from the original SFP1-Model is included. For any further questions don't hesitate to contact me. Kindest regards NazGhul -
