  1. Hey Warlord, with Vista running I'd say invest in more ram. Not just for OFF, but overall performance. I've read Vista is a real system hog that needs almost a gig just to run itself. If you have poor performance, try turning off some background apps (certainly things like sidebar and maybe the whole 'aero' desktop, until you get some more ram. I've got 6 gigs of ram in a quad pc and it still boots up soooo sllllloooo compared to XP. Anyway, best of luck with OFF - which looks good at even low settings.
  2. I'm in the UK and I've been having absolutely the greatest of fun playing the last two saturday evenings with our flyboys across the pond! They seem to be 5 hours behind us, so just factor in the time difference. The sessions last about 3-4hrs. Our american friends have all been polite and friendly, and very patient with the inevitable questions. I think Ducky enjoys shooting me to bits over and over and over and over again, but hey - one day the worm will turn! lol Ax has got a post up for this saturday - so you got a day to get TS and Matt's awesome utility installed. It is well worth it. Sign up today!! :)
  3. This is flipping well brilliant work MadMatt! Well done there! I hope people make use of your hard work and give MP a try now - if they have been holding back because of the issues about which mod?!?? what goes where?!!? - you've fixed that! Somebody - Give the man a DFC! and make it a sticky in MP thread.
  4. Bala signing in for the 2pm EST session (that'll be 7pm in the UK I guess) Let's hope we get an even better turnout than last week, esp from the European guys here. With MadMatts installer - it's going to be soo easy for you to join us (and it is well well worth it:) Tally Ho chaps!
  5. HAHAHA! Mystery solved then :))) good one Duck!
  6. Indeed! I was in one of those god-awful boats one my own. Couldn't see past the camera, vision blocked by the gunner behind and was thoroughly unenjoyable mission. Really happy to see you guys enjoyed it though :) I was very pleased I actually made a good landing in that (highlight of mission) and then the funniest thing happened - my gunner who had not made a peep all mission decided to open up on a parked friendly truck at the side of the airfield! He then proceeded to spin round in his cockpit shooting at all the incoming planes from our squadron as they landed. Kinda made up from the lack of fun on that mission. God, I hate them planes! lovely screenies though :)
  7. Another great night (for me in gmt land) of flying! Thanks for putting on the party guys, and a thumbs up to my fellow flyers.
  8. So, that will be 8pm UK time, Ax? and yes, anyone who has an internet connection and the game can easy do this (or at least give it a go). I run Vista 64 and have a wireless router setup at home and I'm not very computer literate and I did it! If I can, anyone can. So come and give it a go, its Aces High!
  9. Apologies for taking so long to reply, but thanks Womenfly2! LOL, that is a funny video, thanks for posting it :)
  10. Count me in Ax! Anytime Saturday, just post a time when you want us to log on to TS, and I'll get the ISP details off you. Had some trouble last weekend joining a game hosted by SittingDuck, but had no probs when Stump ran one. Hopefully I'll be able to join as simply as that time. Looking forward to it. Chocks away , Bala
  11. That was fantastic! Thank you for putting that up. The mind boggles how much time it must have taken to create that, and it really got to me heart and soul. Wouldn't want to fly against you mind, for those were some really nice manouvres you were doing in the film. The shots at the end were heartbreaking and its good some of us still remember those brave boys, and even better a few can make such homages to them from something like computergame. Congrats for elevating a pastime into something that really conveys a message we all feel, but havent the skill to do so ourselves. When I bought this game I just wanted the adrenalin dogfighting action, but whilst playing I began to learn alot about history and the sacrifices of the 1st world war. This vid sums that up, with action at the beginning and a rendering of the true cost at the end. Its a shame even now the leaders of the civilisations of man can't just shake hands and work together for a brighter future. If the common man didnt fight, and the people at home refused to make weapons, the world would be a better place. but hey, we need an income, right? (< sarcasm) Forgive the ramblings, Thanks again on a thought provoking vid :)
  12. Second what RC and Ax say, great job Stump and thanks to all - had a great evening, tons of fun. Looking forward to flying with you again.
  13. Hi, I play the... Balalaika! (big surprise). Was wandering around a local market about 3 years ago when I saw this strange looking, 3 stringed instrument. Didn't know what it was at the time but have always wanted to play something, and this had only 3 strings - how hard could it be?! So, for £25 I bought it, replaced the rusty strings and downloaded a DIY coursebook of the internet. 3 years on I can play quite a few tunes on it and it does sound lovely - like an old medieval sound. I like a band called Blackmore's Night, and it is a good instrument for playing their type of Renaissance music. oh, and have since gathered a collection of 5 instruments! The six stringer is great and all the others, even though having 3 strings have their own 'voice' as it were and sound different.
  14. Many thanks to Sitting Duck for spending about 4 hrs with me getting MP set up and flying a few missions (though you could have pointed out that dogfight vs us!). I think various firewall protocols were the problems but at the end of the night don't know whose side they were on. Probably mine as Duck has hosted many games. Oh, the foibles of PC's! anyway, thanks SD for spending the time helping, much appreciated :)
  15. Ok, read up a few threads about this topic and find its been said alot in the past and nothing to do about it. Oh well. Shame the AI isnt affected too, but not alot of choice in the matter. Apologies for posting before thoroughly searching for more info.

  19. Hey Chaps, So, what do you veterans do about the huuge disadvantage we have versus an enemy that can fly through clouds (and therefore way above you) when we cannot, due to the atmospherics? There must be a work around, else I can't see how you could play this with such a big problem.
  20. Thanks SittingDuck for the reply :) Ok, sorted out sound issue by messing about with audio quality options (put in on highest). All works fine now and is that a cat's meow on startup?! was expecting a woof! I'm in the NW of England and the best times for me to fly are 8.30pm-10.30pm GMT weekdays and 2pm-6pm GMT weekends. Would be great to meet up and have flying lessons for awhile :) Obviously ending the sesh with a head to head dogfight :)))
  21. Hello fellow flyers :) Just a couple of questions that I'd really like to find out more about and maybe fix: 1) WIND/CLOUDS. Whenever I get into cloud, I dive and stall and 'red out'. This means if I am flying on my own or am leading, I am forced to fly below the clouds, often at dangerously low altitudes (keep getting swooped from above). Whenever I am following a leader, they often take the flight way way high and I cannot keep up. The problem is exacerbated when using warp - if my flight comes out of warp within cloud, they carry on happy as Larry, yet before I can regain control of my plane, it is spinning towards oblivion. What am I doing wrong? Is it mixture settings (I use auto), or what? It's beginning to get me :( 2) I am having some sound issues. Ingame prop sounds and guns are fine. Music on 'set-up' screens is fine (and I really like the original music theme). However (da da daaa!) The other sounds are really crap. Very fuzzy and seem slooowwwed down. When I press on a button, there's a muffled crashing sound, and there's awful static-like noise on briefing screens. I viewed the credit screen and in the background was some staticy and very sllooow voice over that I couldnt make out at all (though from what I have read it is supposed to be a real-life ww1 pilot being interviewed). If anyone else has also had this problem and fixed it, maybe you could let me know too! thanks :) I am using vista 64bit with 6gig Ram and q8200 quad cpu 233mhz. IDT hi def audio codec (onboard sound). Other than those probs, am really enjoying the game and very glad I bought it. I am having my dad round at weekend who is also keen on flight sims (i just got him a pc to play BoB and FE on) but I don't think he'd be too impressed when I tell clouds kill you, but everyone else flying isnt affected - that's a bit of a gamebreaker! I have TS installed and would really like to fly with a more experienced player sometime too, so if you're reading this and are up to showing a rookie the ropes sometime, please post too. Well, its late so goodnight and hope to hear from *anyone* about any of the topics I mentioned. thanks, Bala
  22. Lol, Src. Spoken like a true Lancastrian! Encountered a few of situations myself, and was VERY glad the MOD had let us use large mattresses (must be cheaper than parachutes)! to land on.
  23. Well I received my Trackir4 this morning and had it up and running well enough in about an hour. WOW! What a cool device it is! Even though it's not running perfectly (am getting brief pauses or stutterings as the view passes either sides wing-struts) it already got me 4 kills in aircombat in campaign mode :)) Been playing off for about 2 weeks now and these are my first 'proper' kills. The big thing is it has enabled me alot more 'spatial awareness' and I can judge where I am in the world so much better now. It's great stuff. The biggest surprise was when I half-stood up and could peer over the front of the plane! and leaning out over the edge is awesome. Shame that is is so pricey, but definatley worth the money. Been a great 3 weeks, discovering BHAH, learning how to play it and fly half-decently, and through the forums discovered Trackir. ps. anyone reading this can tell me what info needs to go ona claim form? I noted the type of aircraft and got a wingman as a witness (made notes before take off), and I put down approx. map co-ords and the ammo used. Anything I missed? Cheers guys, it's nice to be here :)
  24. Hey Guys, Looks like trackIR is the way forward if I'm going to get the best out of a flight sim and google came back with this link: http://www.flightstore.co.uk/prod/TRACKIRU/ My question: Is this all I need or is this pack missing something? Also, will I need to download any files to make this run with BHaH? That's not a problem, I can do that whilst waiting for delivery, but with it being so expensive, I want to make sure I get the right product and know what else is needed beforehand. Have looked at the brilliant helpguide on the forum, so I know how to configure it all when I get it, just need to know what exactly is required to get to that bit! :) thanks in advance, Bala, bomber of farmhouses par excellence and flyer of dwindling fortune
  25. Hey thanks guys for the feedback and advice, really helped (I hadn't seen that select ordnance button before). Unfortunatley for the local farms around my airfield, I can now drop bombs! Cheers also for pointing out the manuals folder too, I'll be sure to check them out when I'm done with this note. Reading my post this evening, I am sorry if I came across as a whiny little sod! It was very early this morning when I posted it, after a few hours of stressful flying culminating in my disastrous bombing run at 1.30am! Not a very good first post. So, at least on my first thread, I'll say HELLO again! I have been reading the forums for the last couple of weeks before I ordered the game and you all seem very friendly and intelligent chaps. I hope to be around for sometime and will try to fit in and refrain from asking too many silly questions. Right, off to dispersal to read some flight manuals! Tally ho folks :)
