Track IR Beta or regular software?
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks Mark. Tried copying your settings...pretty tough to get it just right. In fact, I have a free scrolling wheel and zooming it made TrackIR freak out, and somehow my profiles were deleted, and I had to reload lol! Was more careful and got most of your profile. Too bad you cant just dl the profiles... I've read the manual and the faq, but TrackIR doesnt really have very good information...they should totally have a tutorial or a video or something....for $170, it should provide more hand holding...that's pretty much my only beef though...what a TERRIFIC addition to my gaming rig! -

Track IR Beta or regular software?
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
There's a whole lot of bubbles I see where the axis window allows me to pick Yaw, pitch, roll, x, y, z. and there arenumbers on the graph bottom for -15, -30, -45 and 15, 30, 45 and the verticle line with increments of 5 going up. Which bubbles do you recommend I move and to where? For example, what do you have yours set at? I'll start with that and adjust from there. Thanks Mark! -
Track IR Beta or regular software?

Thanks HB! Got installed, and it's running great. Do you have any recommendations on tweaking it? (I.E. adjusting sensitivity so as to not have to move head so much to see your 6, etc?) -

Best pedals for OFF?
Broadside uda Barn replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I just got a set of CH pedals (used on craigslist) and they are fantastic! They dont move at all on my linoleum floor, they are really solid, and it took about 15 minutes of flying to get the feel for them. After so many years of flying with the twist stick, I still find myself twisting quickly for adjustmen even as my feet move the pedals, heh! But it's so intuitive, it's natural. Almost no learning curve at all for flying (at least that's the way it seems after just a few flights). Duce, do you have to disable the breaks for OFF? I'm assuming you are referring to the up down motion at the end of the pedal (that you'd manipulate with your toes) as opposed to the sliding forward/backward motion. For comfort I have my feet on the whole pedal and use the ball of my foot for control, tho if the breaks work, then I'm going to have to disable them somehow.... -
Installation procedure for CFS3 and OFF and extras
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
OK, thanks everyone! I had read a couple of posts regarding installation and seeing things like having to start CFS3 once before loading OFF, making adjustments to the OFF controls for pedals, virtual cockpit stuff...etc. I'll make sure and just follow the steps from the directions. I got the pedals working, the stick working, and starting on TrackIR now. Have to use RoF (it's not that bad...very enjoyable, tho very challenging because the GUI is not intuitive at all) to test everything, as am still waiting for OFF Should be all good by the time OFF arrives! -

Sidewinder FF for XP install issues
Broadside uda Barn posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It'd been a while since I had my Sidwinder Force Feedback 2 joystick installed. So I hooked it up today, and windows sees it just fine, but wont let me install the software for it, which means I cant access the Force Feedback controls. Does anyone have a fix for this? I have the original CD, which was for Win98 and win2000. Thanks for any help! -
Sidewinder FF for XP install issues
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
From what I've read, seems everyone who has the SWFF2 loves it, and it's the preferred stick. Some stated that the EVO's FF effects are too light...? Even w/o the software for the SWFF2, the FF still works....apparently, if you dont really adjust the EVO's effects or use it's software, then unless you want multiple profiles, you dont need the FF software of either stick... (if I'm reading that correctly). I dont use the SW for any other games (just RoF and soon OFF). If the EVO is the better stick, tho, then I'll try to pick one up as soon as I recover from the TrackIR/pedals purchases. -
Sidewinder FF for XP install issues
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Right. I was thinking along the lines of the degradation between upgrades. W98, to XP is bad enough, but then another upgrade to Windows 7? Seems like asking for trouble. I always try to do a full install when I can, however, I'll try a win7 upgrade if they make it available for winXP users...so much to reload. I'd like to avoid that if possible, tho the clean install is always the best option. -
Sidewinder FF for XP install issues
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks Pike and Silverbolt! I'm glad the FF works ... and also glad that I'm facing the same issue everyone else is. Going back to win98 has it's own hassles, not to mention the fact that soon windows 7 will be out and we'll be upgrading to that (well, I probably will...held out on vista this long, but dont want to be 2 iterations behind windows). There's a program out there that emulates the FF (or so I've read), but it's another $20... http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ anyone tried that yet? -
Enjoy your new rig Velvet! See you on the front lines soon!

Sidewinder FF for XP install issues
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Silverbolt: Yes, control panel/game controllers sees AND loads properly the SWFF2. However, it's the software that I cant get to load. I can use the stick, and it has force feedback abilities (at least in RoF) that are active, I just cant access any profiles or test/tweak the FF settings. Al, so this is basically the same situation for everyone using this stick? (you're using this as well, right?) And OFF allows you to modify the FF in the game itself? Thanks! -
Is there a way to make use of a 2nd monitor in OFF? I have 2 19" LCDs (no room for a 3rd) and It'd be great if I could lock the 2nd monitor to a view. Thanks! BuB

I purchased OFF: BH&H on July 3rd (holiday weekend, so I know nothing much was going to happen), and immediately got 2 emails from Avangate: #1 confirming my order and that my payment was being processed. #2 confirming that my payment went thru. This second message stated: "Shortly you will receive an email with detailed product LICENSING INFORMATION and technical support contact information." and it also gave me an address to check my order status online. I have not yet (3 days later) received any other emails (I checked my spam filters as well), and when checking my order status online, it states: "Order complete. All products/services have been delivered." Maybe I'm being paranoid, but since there's no shipping information, or tracking number, nor the 3rd email, I'm wondering if this is normal? Just checking... Thanks for any help!

Avangate and shipping
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
CFS3 should be here on the 13th according to UPS. RoF arrives today or tomorrow TrackIR should be here tomorrow CH pedals probably thurs or friday. I have the whole kit coming! Hopefully OFF wont be the last to arrive....tho as long as it arrives in a timely fashion, I'm OK with it. On a side note, $9 for shipping of a DVD should be VERY fast. That's a LOT for a DVD shipment. My RoF and a DVD from amazon was only $6. Thanks for the encouragement. :) -
Still have a couple of days to wait for OFF and CFS3 to show up, so I'm going over what I have. I have the MS Sidewinder 2 FF joystick. It's got the twist function (I also have an old Sidewinder 3dpro that twists), and also a throttle control. Will the twist function and throttle control suffice for OFF? or do I need rudder pedals? (I will try and get the TrackIR asap as my next purchase, so the pedals will have to wait even if they are super necessary.) and now for the super noob question, and I hate to admit it openly, but I freely admit that I'm lame for not knowing: WHY do I need rudder? What does it do exactly? If my stick banks left and right, forward and back, and my throttle gives me speed, then is rudder like sliding? BSUB --edit--I also have an old thrustmaster FF driving wheel and pedals, but the pedals connect to the wheel, so I cant use them alone...and I'm sure the wheel wouldnt be better than the stick....it wouldnt be, would it? --

Avangate and shipping
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Meh...the Purchase, Deliver, Ordering FAQ has the answers to both questions. However, I did write to Avangate regarding a tracking number and they said to ask the support at OFF... Guess I'll wait a few days more and see if anything shows up... Anyway, here's the answers from the FAQ: I'll post it here (since I cant edit my original post for some reason), in hopes it'll help someone: 1.The order confirmation email says "Shortly you will receive an email with detailed product LICENSING”? Please just ignore that part of the message! There is no need of an email license 2.MY ORDER STATUS SAYS "DELIVERED" WHEN IT IS NOT? CHECKING ONLINE IT SAYS : “Avangate - Order status Order complete. All products/services have been delivered” Nearly all DVD's are shipped within 24 hours after the order is placed – so if you check the status of your order online in the Avangate order system, you may see it as "delivered" – although it should read “dispatched" or "shipped”. Please do not worry, just allow the recommended delivery time as above. -
Multiple Monitor usage
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
hrm. I see the dual monitor setup link...but I think the setup for multiple monitors would be within OFF itself. I've got both monitors working in other games (supreme commander) and for my desktop, so no other hardware is needed. I could get a 3rd monitor working just by adding another video card, but I'd still need a way for OFF to know what to do with the extra monitors.... -
Twist or rudder pedals?
Broadside uda Barn replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm wondering the same thing. The controller setup in windows might allow for that...The sensitivity of the stick can be adjusted....wondering if that adjustment might affect the twist? I dont have OFF yet (ordered and on it's way [i hope]), so I cant test it. Will try when I get it tho. -
There should be a demo video
Broadside uda Barn replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
There's some excellent user made videos posted here....perhaps someone with TrackIR could just make a video for the devs...? As an aside, I posted the 2 reviews of OFF (from the splash page) on Bluesnews, and they posted them on Sunday. That site gets A LOT of readers... -
CH FlightSim Yoke
Broadside uda Barn replied to Rickitycrate's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Rickity--I JUST bought one...heh. It was on craigslist, but on the big island. The guy had the CH yoke and pedals for $50. Add another $15 to ship it to Oahu and it's still a good deal. I just wanted the pedals, but the yoke is a bonus. --tho it doesnt compare to your $8 setup! Sheesh, dude, you should give lessons! -
Hrm...where did you find that Power Supply? I searched on Newegg but couldnt find it. This is what I put in the rig I have now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817139006 Corsair makes a good PSU. AT $90 (after rebates) that's a great deal. One thing to keep in mind is that if you do decide to go SLi down the road, you'll need quite a bit more power. This 750w will run SLI and Crossfire, but depending on what you have in the system, the power might be close....just a thought. I'm with Al regarding the graphics card. If you have the $, great, get the best you can. However, just under that best card are more reasonably priced cards. The EVGA 285 on newegg is $329 (after rebate)...that's a big jump from the 280 Here's a 280 for $230 (after rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130492 and a 260 for $154 (after rebate) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130434 however, here's an article on Tom's hardware about why the 285 warrants purchasing even tho it's only about a 6% increase in performance... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforc...x-285,2139.html if you can afford it, great, if not, your options are also pretty outstanding. Lastly, make sure your cpu cooler will fit in your current case (I'm assuming you're not getting a new one?). I went with a monstrous cooler and couldnt tell whether it would fit by the dimensions it gave. However, when I got it, (and I had my dremmel ready to cut the case if I had to), it fit....providing that I put the side window fan on the outside, instead of its normal mount on the inside. Get your tape measure out and make sure it'll fit. Dont want that to be the hold up in your build... From what I found, all the i7 coolers are monsters, tho, so there's not that many to choose from. HTH BuB

Just placed my order for the TrackIR 5. You can get a $5 discount if you use the link posted earlier in this thread. However, if you buy the track clip pro and the TrackIR 5 together, they bundle it for you with a $15 discount. Total for both is $170. The $5 discount doesnt work with the bundle...just with the Track IR 5. So if you're going to get the Clip pro along with it, it's best to use the bundle route. 2 day shipping to Hawaii = $20 Ground shipment = $23 HEH! faster and cheaper...guess the slow mules from the mainland cost them a few bucks extra, as opposed to those faster planes!
