Poland 1939 terrain?
Stratos replied to Gatling20's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It was mostly one sided in real life as well, polish made some interesting tactics to overcome that, like flying patrols at higher altitudes to use diving speeds to catch bombers. Or try to exploit at maximum the maneuvrability of the PZL.11 against the enemy fighters. But If you feel that the PZL.11 is outdated try to attack a nazi column with a PZL.23. -

Is an amazing one, he respected the loadouts and skins so the end result is a lot better than previous attempts.

Something along the F-104S lines maybe? With proper RWR and updated radar would have been a credible point interceptor. -

Seen it on the Yak picture, is a really neat idea, and had a lot of development/export potential for early Cold War as well. -

F104L from Cocas and Co
Stratos posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File F104L from Cocas and Co The F104L by CAF team, 3d work by Cocas, skins by Nyghtfall, other ini work by Coupi, testing by Stratos, Coupi, Wrench, Nyghtfall. Some small whatif background: The Lockheed F104L was a 1950s company-funded proposal for an embarked Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. It was intended for both the USN and Lockheed hoped to capitalize on its F-104 production experience through commonality of parts and systems, and minimize expenses by reusing tooling, jigs and existing factory facilities. Borrowing heavily from the F-104 design the new type featured a strenghtened landing gear, corrosion portection, increased span wing and of course catapult and arreting gear additions. The F104L was a specific product for the USN and the USMC, trying to sell it as a fast interceptor with better payload and range than the USAF F104. Both USN and USMC bought a good amount of planes and it saw service in both forces during the Vietnam war as a fighter for the USN and as a STRIKE and CAS airplane for the MARINES. Both services praised the speed and capability of the new planes, but also criticized the slow speed handling, that posed serious problem for a carrier aircraft. After getting several kills and a good service record in Vietnam, planes were retired froma ctive duty in 1972, altought USMC used the plane for fast Strike for more several years. Included: Skins for USN VF162 and for USMC VMFA311 Submitter Stratos Submitted 08/05/2018 Category What If Hangar -

Saab F1 Hägring, the Flygvapnet Mirage.
Stratos posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
A bit of background for Valastur new amazing work! When the Saab Viggen first versions were introduced, Swedish Air Force was still reliant on the Saab 35 Draken for air defense and altough it was still a viable fighter is starting showing its age. Work was well underway for a new fighter variant of the Viggen, but the development of the new engine was not going without its own problems as it doesn't genearated enough power and some modifications were needed to improve the results. Swedish air force seek a multirole variant to complement the separated fighterbomber/fighter Viggen, but with SAAB busy creating the Viggen Sweden, the Flygvapnet turned to Europe as it did just before WW2. The choosen fighter was the Mirage as it was readily available and can carry enough weaponry to complement the Viggen. 24 single seat fighters and 4 twin seaters were bought with small modifications done by SAAB adding certain radios and countermeasures pods. In service the Hägring as it was known was well loved by pilots and servicemen and it enjoyed a long career retiring almost at the same time of the Viggen.- 2 replies
