  1. Oh the coffee has been spilled many times, luckily I am better geared for such emergencies than BP is. Thats actually not a bad idea lol, my trash container this year had a XFX 5870, Sapphire 5970, Q9650, 8 gigs of 1066 ddr2 ram, an asus p5q mobo, a 30" dell 2560x1600 3007wfp, three dell 2007fp monitors and now a Sanyo PLV-Z4 projector!
  2. So I'm running a dual boot system, vista 64 on a mechanical hd for work and W7 64 bit on a SSD for play. Within three weeks the Corsair X256 SSD died :( FYI NEVER BUY CORSAIR EXTREME SERIES SSDS, they have a factory defect and hi failure rate! It took me nearly two weeks to get a replacement and the replacement DIED WITHIN 5 HOURS! So now corsair says that they are going to "upgrade," me from the extreme series to the performance series and I just got the second return RMA label today, so its gonna take another week or two to get the third SSD replacement...grr. So here I am, I hooked up my raptor 150gig hd again and am using it for Windows 7, but I have not even bothered to install OFF on it cause in two weeks I am going to just have to switch it back out for the SSD replacement and I don't wanna commit to a DOD campaign when I cant see it through (who am i kidding Im usually dead by the fifth mission lol)....so here I sit and wait.....debating on whether or not I can last two weeks....
  3. Wow Morris! Those look very nice with 285 reads and 275 writes! But they also look nice and expensive at $749 a pop! I just spent a fortune upgrading to a 980x, 12 gigs of corsair dominators, and a Rampage III so I gotta hold off and be patient and wait for my RMA as it is already money spent lol. This is what they are sending me as a replacement http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233085 What are you running for hardware again?
  4. RoF 'Hat in the Ring' expansion

Oh I forgot to add that the blonde also lets you "Record," while the Brunette can also hold her own with interesting conversation on almost any topic including muzzle velocities, attack helicopter specs, survivalist training, treadwear patters on corvette tires, socket 775 versus 1366, can you really have enough ammo, ground fire versus Canadian pilots, etc, etc.
  5. OT: violence in video games

Yes but wackos are wackos, doesnt take a game to make somebody a nut job, nuts have been around since the beginning of civilization. Lennons killer didn't play video games, the manson gang didn't play video games, Alber Fischer didn't play video games, Jack the ripper didn't play video games.....However, surprisingly Hitler did play video games: My only criticism is that parents need to do their freaking job and PARENT, so my games can stay nice and bloody.
  6. OT: violence in video games

HOLY SHAT! Now you got my attention! I played oblivion thru on the xbox, but picked it up for like ten bucks in a bargain bin for the computer but never got around to installing it. I will look into this when I get my SSD back from RMA! Very nice, thanks for the updates and heads up!
  7. OT: violence in video games

Eh..... thirty seconds in grand theft auto iv produces much more horrific and graphic violence then all of your videos put together, but oblivion is a great game. I put over 100 hours into oblivion, but I didnt have a hot stripper side kick....looks a niiiiicccceee. But I agree, violence is getting way out of hand in video games, now if you will excuse me I have to get back to lassoing and dragging my victims behind my horse and then hog tying their half dead body and drop them off a cliff or place them on the railroad tracks for the blood thirsty train in Red Dead Redemption.
  8. RoF 'Hat in the Ring' expansion

Why must people down one game or the other? Both ROF and OFF bring something different to the table and both are fantastic and both are improving every day! ROF's multiplayer, graphics, physics, Mission Recorder, etc blow OFF away, but OFFs attention to detail and single player immersion blow ROF away...its like dating a smoking hot blonde with big tits that cant cook and relatively sucks in bed but lets you have your way with her and also dating a very cute, small breasted, brunette that can cook her ass of and rocks your world in the bedroom...both are great at the same time but if you had to settle down with just one of em the quality of the experience would suffer due to lack of competition....lol.
  9. Parky, von Paulus, please advice

LOL, German Pron is the freakiest stuff.....except for that dude and his sister in Arkansas with the boa snake.

Ahh Creaghorn, don't worry this is not nearly as difficult as restoring a car, plane, boat, etc. I know it may seem daunting, but it really is simple, the first computer build can be a little frustrating, but as you get the hang of it you will see its fun, rewarding, cheaper and addicting. My first build was a nightmare! I built it in 2007 and I went with an ASUS striker motherboard, Windows Vista 64 and a serious watercooling setup... NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR A FIRST BUILD LET ME TELL YOU lol. First the striker motherboard had many many bios issues, then since vista was so new I had huge problems with that too. My first problem was that vista could not be loaded on a machine with two harddrives installed and it took me a solid day to figure that one out, then I found out that vista could not be installed with all four sticks of memory in the slot, it took me a solid day to figure that one out too....Then when I had my whole watercooling loop setup nightmore, I filled the resovoir and began to cycle the pump when to my HORROR water started shooting out of my cpu waterblock everywhere (thankfully the cpu was not on and thankfully its distilled water and none got in the actual socket, but still it was a bad scene).. And then once that was all taken care of I still had weeks of bios tinkering with the ASUS striker just to get the system stable! Here are pics of my first build! And there is the old compaq on the left that I had replaced it with...seems like an eternity ago! In contrast the latest build for my parents with the I7 930, Corsair H50, OCZ 12gig o ram, XFX 5770, etc took me only two and a half hours to assemble, install windows 7 64 and have running like a top! If you were not on the other side of the planet I would gladly assemble yours for you too, lol, I love puttin them together now....almost like it more than actually using them!

Ill green light it, however, I would make a final suggestion on your GPU....maybe you might wanna consider selling the 260 while it still holds some resell value and pick up an ATI 5850 or 5870 so you could have the option of going triple screen down the road for your next upgrade. I know the idea of triple screening is daunting and seems expensive, but you can slowly pickup the additional two monitors and really the result is just as drastic as going from no trackIR to having trackIR.....but better because when you combine track IR with three screens....well thats as close as it gets to actually getting there in terms of immersion!
  12. Windows 7 problems

Do you have the latest ATI drivers installed? Version 10.4 is the latest and works good for me. http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/drivers.aspx I am now using W7 64 fulltime and have no problems. The only problems I was having were related to my g940 HOTAS but after the latest driver update, everything is honkey dory.
  13. Parky, von Paulus, please advice

I endorse Von Paulus recommendations, but I have to add I went with the rampage II because I got that used in a trade along with 12 gigs of OCZ ram and an I7930 (I traded my old triple Dell 2007fp monitor setup for them)....also I built that computer for my parents which is why I only gave them a 5770 gpu....but damn that computer smokes! If I was using their computer for gaming I would just slap in my 5870 and oc the cpu to 4ghz and call it a day....did I mention it only cost me $642 to build that...if you can find quality used computer parts like you can on forums like the hard forum then you can save some bucks going that route...of course the draw back is your getting used stuff and not getting exactly what you would want.
  14. Parky, von Paulus, please advice

Are you crazy Morris!! SWMABO will have his head if she sees that.....noooooo hes gotta blend it in like I did so she will never know, lol
  15. Parky, von Paulus, please advice

On my gaming rig I am using an intel Q9650 processor (Watercooled to 4ghz with a Corsair H50) with an Asus PQ5 Pro Turbo motherboard, 8 gigs of Gskill DDR2 memory, 2 Sapphire Toxic 5870 2gb video cards and a corsair SSD. I am not sure about computer retailers in Germany, but if you can find a variant like Newegg then you can get your stuff in one place. You don't need to get brand new I7 stuff as OFF actually likes Core 2 quad just as much (if not more). The beauty is since this stuff is last gen you can get great deals if you buy it second hand...here are links to the stuff I got....(Disregard the prices as the new retail prices are a rip)....if you have any websites like the Hard Forum in Europe you can link up and get the components used, but in near new condition (http://hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17) Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16819115130 Self contained CPU watercooler (this thing kicks ass!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010&Tpk=h50 Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131377&cm_re=asus_pq5_pro-_-13-131-377-_-Product Ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166 Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102891&cm_re=toxic_5870-_-14-102-891-_-Product SSD (Very expensive, but very cool. Wait for prices to fall and get yourself a nice raptor Hard Drive or 7200RPM 1 terragig hard drive) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233123&cm_re=corsair_ssd-_-20-233-123-_-Product

Creaghorn, may I suggest you build your own custom computer this time around and stay away from HP, Dell, Gateway, etc. Most people are scared and daunted by building their own computer, but it is very easy and you save so much money and get much better components. I built my first computer in 2007 after 20 years of using name brand PCs and I could never go back! I am now on my fourth personal built computer as it is allot of fun to upgrade and tinker and my parents third HP crapola budget pc just broke and they were so fed up with cheapo computers that they finally caved and asked me to build them one. For $642.00 US, I built them an I7 930 processor mildly over clocked to 3.6ghz watercooled with a Corsair H50, with 12 gig of triple channel OCZ Platinum memory, an ASUS Gene Rampage II motherboard, with an ATI 5770 and a Striker 7.1 soundcard and a 1 terragig hard drive. $642 dollars built that! A computer with all of those components would cost over $2,000 from a custom computer builder and HP, Dell, etc really don't even sell computers that could match that performance. So I say, keep you current PC hooked up and make it a project to build a new one....It literally takes less than an hour to put together if you know what your are doing and a few hours if you don't and wanna be cautious. We can help walk you thru it if you decide that route! Cheers
  17. Multi-monitor setup

The ati 4000 series cards dont support multi screen gaming and your best bet would be softTH, but you need two graphics cards with softTH. Your best bet is to sell the 4000 series card and replace it with a 5000 series with have eyefinity features. Also, you will need a third monitor, dont waste your time with two monitors because the bezel goes right down the middle and your gun sights are a mess.
  18. I found this video, almost as good as the originals....actually the colour is much much better
  19. Force Feedback in OFF

Auto trim? You mean Auto Rudder? I never have that on either.
  20. Force Feedback in OFF

Ahh, its not the "Weeeeakness," that morris is inquiring about, because you can tweak those settings with the logitec software and make responses stronger and more pronounced. I am running both Windows 7 64 and Vista 64 and my problems with the G940 are as follows: In Vista 64, everything will be working perfectly and then (this usually happens right after a warp) my plane will go into an unstoppable climb and even if I fight the climb it will still keep trying to climb/loop. Eventually, if I wiggle and fight with the stick long enough it will make a distinctive "click," sound and a noticeable bit of pressure is released and the plane stops its climb, but then it wants to dive! If I keep my hands off the stick the plane will go into a dive and I have to pull the stick back about 1/3rd of the way to prevent this. The entire rest of my flight must now be flown with me holding the stick back 1/3 or else I will go into a dive. If I end my mission and start another mission, everything is fine and works perfectly! It does not do this PULL/PUSH thing every mission, it happens about one out of every three missions and like clock work its the same scenario every time it enters it. Also, I have found that it will enter into this PULL/PUSH dilemma if I attempt to dive too hard, but it does not happen that way as frequent as the "Warp," way. Its annoying, but I soldier on and just pretend that my plane took damage and I just have to fight it to stay aloft. In Windows 7, things are worse. The same PULL/PUSH scenario happens but it happens at random any and many times a mission! Unlike in Vista 64, it will correct itself after about ten seconds and then you can continue on as normal, but this happens much more frequent and random which makes it completely unplayable for me! I have put in some serious time with Rise of Flight Multiplayer in the past few days (because they brought in dogfighting!) and I have not had one episode of any problems with my G940! I also play Wings of Prey and do not have any issues with those either! So for me this is exclusively a OFF issue and I really wish they could address it in P4, but we may be wishing too much with the limitations of the Engine. God I wish OFF had its own engine like ROF does, because it really is the superior and most comprehensive single player experience!
  21. I am very good at typing, but every now and then need to look at the keys to hit a hard to place function, which can be difficult at night or when the glare from my monitors hits the keys and makes the lettering invisible. I was on a quest for the perfect backlit keyboard and tried the Microsoft X6, which turned out to be a piece of annoying junk! Ever on I searched until a kindly gent from the Hard forum recommended the Deck Legend 105! The keyboards are pricey, but I hesitantly ordered a Deck Legend Ice Tactile 105 and it is AMAZING! WOW, WOW, WOW, I never thought it could be this good with a keyboard, but it is. The backlighting on these keyboards is second to none and you don't get any annoying light bleed between the keys like the X6 does. My God if any of you have to type at any kind of length, do yourself a huge favor and pick one of these babies up, it will be one of the best purchases for a computer that you ever made, right behind a widescreen hi-def monitor! Heres the website: http://www.deckkeyboards.com/ And heres some pics of my setup now!
  22. Anybody ever use a Deck keyboard?

If you are a hunt and pecker with failing eyesight you will love the deck lol, the backlighting on all the other keyboards is weak and bleeds thru, the deck is the only keyboard that just lights up the numeric area that you want to see. It is very very nice. I am not sure what you mean by the G940 never moves? Are you confusing it with the new Saitek joystick that is force move? Because I can assure you the G940 moves and moves well, the FF is fantastic and really helps give you the seat of the pants feel. The FF support needs to be improved in OFF for it, but it works perfectly in ROF!
  23. Anybody ever use a Deck keyboard?

Hey Uncleal, while that is a spiffy looking keyboard, I have to tell you it is not even in the same league with the Deck. They are keyboards, so no amount of pictures would do them justice, you would have to actually use one to see. Funny, but yea, I am stoked over a keyboard as it is simply fantastic! I invite you to try a deck, I should work for them, with how much I am praising them at this point, but I am serious....it is a fantastic keyboard!
  24. Anybody ever use a Deck keyboard?

I Love my setup, but it took a lot of trial and error. I cannot recommend the Deck keyboard enough, the pictures do not do it any justice and all backlit keyboards are not created equal. If you try a Deck you will buy a Deck lol....I could not live without it at this point and I have only had it for a day!
