An Australian A-4G Skyhawk of No. 805 Squadron Royal Australian Fleet Air Arm. -

This version of the MiG-17 is armed with early AA-1 Alkali beam-riding missiles. The MiG-17 has a disturbing habit of locking up the controls at high speed, meaning you can't maneuver and just fly along in the direction you are going until you can slow down. I understand this is caused by the flow of air over the control surfaces which at high speed were just too great for mechanical linkages and pilot strength to move. Western aircraft had hydraulic controls to avoid this issue. -
Possibly you all mean Kangaroos? The damn things are a positive menace. I will ship you as many as you want - but I suppose you want t-shirts instead.

Welcome Yoghurt. Are you a newbie to the game as well as the forums, or have you been flying a while? What aircraft/era do you prefer?

It is great to see the new DLC model for Third Wire, and I was particularly happy to see one of the first aircraft off the drawing board was the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air Arm A-4G Skyhawk. I love this aircraft and had created my own mod version, so I was eager to compare them. I created this composite image to show the Third Wire and my version together. I didn't do a bad job, but the new aircraft is beautiful. It was well worth the money. Thanks TK. I hope the new funding model will get good support.

I love the A-4G so I was happy to buy it and fly it alongside my 3rd-party versions. Unfortunately after downloading I found I need the May 2011 patch or better - so I'm downloading a half-a-Gig of updates before I can try it out. -
Anzac Day in Australia is a time to celebrate our servicemen and women and reflect on their courage and sacrifice. We take it pretty seriously! Anyway, my town wasn't on the list for an RAAF flypast this year, so I staged my own virtual flypast in remembrance of the fallen. It is a four-ship formation with an RAAF Hawk trainer, and F/A-18 Hornet, and F/A-18F Super Hornet and an RAAF F-35 Lightning II. F/A-18 Hornet and RAAF Hawk trainer. RAAF F-35 Lightning II and and F/A-18F Super Hornet. In the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them...

I am loving the new Afghanistan terrain. It is great to have to worry about the terrain as you roll in on CAS missions. there are only really a couple of good attack corridors onto the target, meaning you have to fly in, do a run and roll out, then come around and make another run. However you really need to watch the terrain. I waited juuuuuust too long to pull my Harrier Gr.7 out of a guns pass on some T-80BVs and clipped the ridge of a hill on the way out. I thought I might have gotten away with it - but then the flames started and I was trailing a line of black smoke. Flames lick around the tail of my Harrier GR.7 after clipping a hill. I nursed her to within about 10 miles of home, then it really started taking hold. I debated trying to set her down, but thought better of it and ejected just seconds before she exploded. While walking the rest of the way home I repeated to myself "I will watch the hills and I will not hold by attack runs too long. I will watch the hills and I will not hold my attack runs..." Thanks for the marvelous terrain!

This is a WIP of my RAN A-4G Skin. I have added the tail number, in a tortuous and torturous couple of hours. -

This is my attempt at a "Checkertails" skin for the Royal Australian Navy's No. 805 squadron. -
I promised myself I would buy one of these as soon as I heard they were going to be released. It arrived this afternoon. I regularly fly the A-4G Skyhawk in SF2 and I prefer the early grey/white scheme to the later two-tone grey camouflage scheme. The Skyhawk was still in operational service when I was a Navy Reservist and I remember them very fondly. Here is the Hobby Master A-4G. Here is my A-4G in SF2 launching an AIM-9 Sidewinder.
