  1. Link: Techniques For Weapons Delivery In SFP1 & Page 2. This might help. It's for SF1 but SF2 is not that different.
  2. A big issue is knowing the operational parameters of your weapons. One of the key issues that the Navy and Air force Fighter Weapons Schools were created to correct was the situation where pilots were wasting missiles by launching from outside the optimum launch parameters, the other being how to maneuver you aircraft to get it into the proper launch position. With the early first generation IR AAMs like the AIM-9B Sidewinder, R-3S AA-2 Atoll-A, and Shafrir-1, all have a Max Launch G of 2 meaning that they will not track if they are launching in a turn higher than 2G, secondly first generation IR AAM's needed to be withing 60 degrees of the target aircraft's exhaust pipe in order to gain a lock. These missiles were designed for use against bombers not fighters and as such were never intended for use against a maneuvering target. If an aircraft turns hard enough it can swing its exhaust pipe out of view of the missile's seeker and the missile will lose lock. Also don't launch if the sun is behind the target or if the target is below the horizon because the sun and the ground heat can blind the seeker head. Best to launch from the target's 6 o'clock while unloading G, well within the max launch range with the target silhouetted against a clear sky. Also the IR missiles should be more effective a high altitude than low altitude just due to air temperature and density.
  3. That was my assumption as well. Thanks for the second opinion guys.
  4. Over the frozen north of Canada an RCAF Arrow politely escorts an apparently lost visitor out of Canadian airspace. His less polite wingman is out of the picture frame, and out of tail gun range, positioned on the visitors six with eight missiles at the ready.
  5. Acesfakia, don't rush things. Lets start by trying to put together a team of modders for an Anatolia SF2:NA update project. Lets see if we can find some 3D modeler that might be interested, a lot of items from such a project would probably be useful in a number of other Mediterranean based campaigns not to mention other projects. For example, if a basic La Combattanta II & III class hull can be made then it can be copied and the different superstructure of the II & III can be erected on it. That in turn would allow copies of those two variants to be made and configured with the armament of each variant of that class which would give the SF2 community a number of new naval vessels that would be usable for Chile, Germany, Greece, Iran, Libya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Qatar, and Tunisia. Let us focus on the things that both improve the Anatolia project and help the SF2 community as a whole first. Then once that is done we can focus on unique items.
  6. colmack, let me know when you are ready to do the data file on that USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5). Found this video on YouTube. USS Oklahoma City CLG 5 Combat Action Near the DMZ, Vietnam. Also it occurred to me that if Colmack can get us the USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5), and the ThirdWire GearingFRAM1B is able to act as USS Higbee (DD-806) and USS Lloyd Thomas (DD-764) then all we need is a Belknap class frigate/cruiser model for the USS Sterett (DLG/CG-31) and we could reenact the Battle of Dong Hoi. Battle of Dong Hoi links. Battle of Đồng Hới at wikipedia. Analysis of the Battle of Dong Hoi by Stuart Slade. The Battle of Dong Hoi - Alternative Views: Review of the Battle of Dong Hoi by Larry Rouse. US Navy vs. Cruise Missiles? - the Battle off Dong Hoi. Be sure to read the comments at the bottom of this one. The comments all appear to be serious remakes made my veterans. First-Hand:The Naval Tactical Data System in Combat - Chapter 7 of the Story of the Naval Tactical Data System. Scroll down to "Sterett and the MiGs". The whole article is interesting to read however. Battle of Dong Hoi - What was it that the Sterret shot down? A good discussion with lots of interesting info and a number of comments by USN veterans who were there or in the area at the time. USS Higbee - Battle of Dong Hoi - PDF file. "The Battle off Dong Hoi - by Elden G. Miller - Updated 4-19-2001" from the Internet Archive copy of "www.sterett.org/battle.htm". Edited for links and related comments.
  7. My Newest Acquisitions

Nice pistol. I still need to get a 1911, and I personally would rather have an M1A than an AR-15. Nice looking rifle though.
  8. WhiteBoySamurai's C-14 China Cat class has a BM-21 9M28F 122mm rocket included in it that might work if you just need the weapon itself.
  9. I found out why you did not have the CBU-87 available. The Jaguar GR Mk1A has all its Weapon Stations set with "AttachmentType=NATO,UK" while the CBU-87 is set with "AttachmentType=USAF,USN". Also you can find the CRV7 rockets in the "Royal New Zealand Navy Fleet Air Arm Skyhawks and HMNZS New Zealand Aircraft Carrier." download.
  10. Well here is a partial list of dates modified. Some ships seem to have more easily available data than others. Hope you have a good trip. Spruance Class destroyers with VLS only. 11. Nice mission report. Odd that you don't have any GBU-15's. I just checked and "Desert Storm Part 1 For SF2 1.0" has six different variants of the GBU-15 in it.
  12. I just have flown two missions over the trouble area in a Mirage F-1C-200. The first time was just a simple CAP, in which my flight of 4 F-1C-200's shot down 2 MIG-23s, just after that set to autopilot for home base and as the plane while south of Bremerhaven entered a right turn from south to the east towards Wittmundhafen the game crashed. The second time I flew a deliberate test mission; again in an F-1C-200, but this time I flew out of Husum, and did so without wingmen or adversaries. I crisscrossed the area but this time I had no issues at all. Pics from the second test flight. I will have to do more testing.
  13. WBS, once you are done with the Kidd class you will have a ship model that is very close to a Spruance Class. Have you considered making the Mk 143 ABL, VLS, and VLS with RAM equipped variants? Kidd and Spruance class side by side. Spruance Class destroyers with Tomahawk in Mk 143 ABL. USS Comte De Grasse (DD-974) USS Merrill (DD-976) USS Conolly (DD-979) USS John Rodgers (DD-983) USS Leftwich (DD-984) USS Harry W. Hill (DD-986) USS Ingersoll (DD-990) Spruance Class destroyers with VLS. USS Spruance (DD-963) USS Paul F. Foster (DD-964) USS Kinkaid (DD-965) USS Hewitt (DD-966) USS Arthur W. 14. I must agree with NeverEnough, TechReport's system guide is good and the System Builders Anonymous sub-forum in the Tech Report forum is also a great place to ask for advice on choosing parts. http://techreport.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=33&sid=9813af7ae414b005217dd60ba105cd65
  15. acesfakia, I agree with Wrench that we should make as many things as possible open to the whole community here at CombatAce. I am all for creating as many completely new models as possible for an Anatolia Project Update. Especially as many of those items would be useful in many other projects as well. Looking at the pictures you posted above I see that you are better than I am at the moment. I need to get some tutoring in 3D design.
  16. K9 DEFENDER FUND

Thought people might be interested in this. I read an article titled "Michigan group helping keep hero dogs safe" about providing first aid and protective gear for military, police, fire, and search & rescue service dogs. http://www.clickondetroit.com/community/michigan-group-helping-keep-hero-dogs-safe/25092890 http://k9defenderfund.org/
  17. I tried looking in the SF2 Downloads section but a lot of the skins are still missing screenshots due to the database overhaul last year. Do we have any thing like these? http://home.comcast.net/~szee1a/Lenmoore11/Lenmoore11.html
  18. MigBuster, you made some good comments. We seem to be the same age. When I was 4 years old my older brother, without our parents permission, road me across town on the handlebars of his bike to see Top Gun. It took forever for my parents to get me to stop saying "You'er going to be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong." Additionally you reminded me of something my dad and brother when they were in Civil Air Patrol were told by an F-14 pilot, had a call sign of Porky if I remember right. He described a night carrier landing as being like placing a single postage stamp in the middle of your living room at night, turn off all of the lights, than diving at the stamp and trying to hit it with the tip of your tongue. Also I thought your point about how dangerous training still is was well made. The loss rate may not be as high as it was in World War I but it is still more dangerous that many people realize.
  19. Planes at Google Earth

Here are some at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. KC-135's. C-130 plus chopper. The base museum.
  20. In the Anatolia Project v2.0 do all of the ships with a "_D" on the end of the name represent docked ships that are not supposed to move?
  21. I think you would have to edit the arrangement of the StationID= numbers in the Data.INI and then change the Loadout.INI to match those changes.
  22. Found this radar track showing flight MH370's last known transponder location. http://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/mh370#2d81a27
  23. To me the camouflage pattern looks like a bunch of maple leafs on the ground in the Autumn. Are you sure this is not a Canadian bomber?
  24. Must have addons for FE2

Rends, get the download from the link below and place it over top of Jan Tumas seasonal tiles in your Terrains folder. Seasonal Town & Water Tiles (Spring, Summer, Fall) by Bandy Once that is done place the file I have attached over top of it and see how that works for you. Be sure to back up your own edits before you try mine just in case you don't like it. FE2_Edited_T_Datafiles.7z
