  1. I think with the success of the DACT reports a little more can be centered on the mud moving aspect of the series. Like the DACT reports, actual techniques/evaluations of weapon systems can be done as well... it's against threat systems but there's little ground covered by the mud mover side of the house. Like the DACT reports, it is not year specific but since this is A2G it'd fit in more and maybe help the novice mud mover in trying to figure out a particular weapon or system in order to understand it better.
  2. Speed is a thing, but it's also altitude. The higher you go the less the ability for AAA to hit you. So that's why the "cheat" of the box is somewhat important because realistically (and more or less) you can't see your target, you have to rely on various views, but speed doesn't have anything to do with it, you can still get hit, but not as common as the older jets like Vietnam era if my mind serves me right. But the problem is the concentration too, since nearly every square foot is covered by AAA in Hanoi so the density is what kills you, as you're out of one gun's firing solution but in another's. So if you can use early guided weapons such as Paveways (depends on the year of course) and Bullpups. But most of the time depending on the year you're dropping by TLAR theory (That Looks About Right) depending on the platform. GKABS's A-6A is nice that you have a CCIP to use, so it makes it easier to bomb targets, but if you can use guided weapons, at least that's what I recommend anyway.
  3. Agreed, and places like Hanoi are pretty bad. Try Hanoi in modern times (SA-10s and whatnot populate the area, not good unless you got a good jammer) and you'll still have issues, and the AAA is easy. However, that is the main problem with the mission, so I don't know what to say. Usually if you do "cheat" it'll say Primary Target, so that's a help. I think the median is about 50% of the AAA hit to get a mission success. Then again I mainly fly Strike missions so with modern jets (I've had one shoot up my Hornet one time in Iceland) so I don't have much of an issue with them, it's usually the SAMs I'm worried about.
  4. Agreed, I binge-watched most of his videos (didn't want to watch the British stuff), but my takeaway was good videos, and if I really wanted to fly the Thud, it would be the go-to source for learning it. But anyway yeah I don't know any other YouTubers offhand (I saw one but didn't watch it) that I can suggest for any other takes, but that I figured that might help. I think the best thing to do is "cheat" by using the red box for enemy targets. Otherwise it's just a hit or miss philosophy with normal targeting.
  5. Devin Horner's videos are good examples of doing missions in SF2 Vietnam and he mainly flies the Thud in most of the videos, but does Iron Hand anyway in some videos. Since I fly modern I can't really help, but here's his YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@devinhorner2358 Using ARMs is simple, you point and shoot and hope it hits. It's easier in the more modern (post Vietnam) aircraft, but there are some tutorial videos to look at. And this is a living thread, not so much "dead", because most player fly air-to-air missions and stuff.
  6. Thanks for that Gepard, I'll look into it sometime
  7. Uh sure, no problem, but I'd go to the Downloads section and ask those who made campaigns first, would make it easier I suppose.
  8. There are people here who made campaigns, but nobody as far as I know made a tutorial to make one to my knowledge.
  9. Actually I second this, as I've been wanting to make a campaign myself, and no help from the Knowledge Base, if my mind serves me correctly.
  10. Thanks for this, much appreciated!
  11. Could it be an actual limitation of the game? I would figure it would allow it to show up, but if not then it may be a simple limitation, unless somebody has done it before?
  12. This is a topic without comments man. It's great to reminisce and such, but keep it to screenshots only.
  13. Took a quick unarmed flight around a free flight mission, and found it more maneuverable than the stock TW birds. you can actually maneuver around and it feels natural. It looks good too in the cockpit, didn't pick up that much of an issue, and the framerates were good (I mean it was just me flying around too).
  14. Okay what you do is go to the upper right of the Mission Editor screen, and click on the ship icon. If you have SF2:NA or the complete, you should find the NImitz Aircraft Carrier. That's a takeoffable and landable aircraft carrier that the game comes stock with. After you select that place it in the water using the crosshair in the middle of the map (that's where you place objects with). Once you do that, open the menu for your aircraft, and select the carrier name, and you'll be able to take of and land on that carrier. As for the Range:
  15. You can try putting a carrier in the lake, but that's the only real water area there is. And it's not that big relative for a carrier to move in (it might end up on the land areas), at least I don't think so. Best thing to do is create a free flight mission (Air Defense Suppression mission but no enemy and no AAA/SAMs), but you have to have the Mission Editor DLC or the SF2 Complete to do that.
  16. Looks good but I think the LC is too close to the forward edge of the tail.
  17. You should download The Range map so you can practice strike missions at least. I don't remember if you can do SEAD (I doubt it) , but it's an enemy free map where you can practice to your heart's content.
  18. It looks good, but it's a millimeter off, so I won't download this anymore. Seriously I'd fly it, and not much care about this, but then again I've been somewhat circumspect in stuff I've done.
  19. You don't have to use Print Screen for your screenshots, you can assign a valid key to make it work. Like I used to have my Right ALT key as the screenshot button, and worked as supposed to. Maybe your print screen button is going out.
  20. Looks better GKABS. Will templates be available too?
