DCS World 2 - NTTR & F-15C
EricJ replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Yep and still it took years to finish. Thanks for your insight though, I'm sure it'll be appreciated somewhere else. -

Given back then to now? No sorry, you're not going to convince me otherwise. That's just fact man, it's been around for a lot longer before you showed up on the ED team that's for sure. If you check my profile on the ED forums you'll see my join date as Nov 2004 (when i was in Iraq and the boards moved from Ubi's to the current iteration) so no man, while I understand the development cycle before I disappeared a few years ago doesn't change my opinion. -

I only keep FSX because I got it for like five bucks for the Steam version, and haven't touched it yet. However once the Super Bug gets made available for the Steam version I'll probably get that again. But agreed though, it seems they want "uknown" (C-101) aircraft more than the more common jets, etc. -
Best SF2 for someone new to the Series?
EricJ replied to kenportner's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well yes, and no. Usually it's due to some engine and .dll tweaks as opposed to any other compatibility issues, so like the Super Hornet stuff you can use it in all versions, but you'd have to reference the Avionics70.dll for non-NA SF2 games. -
Best SF2 for someone new to the Series?
EricJ replied to kenportner's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Pretty much whatever plane set you're looking for. But bear in mind other than some of the NA compatible or updated for SF2:NA then you may be out of luck.... sort of. But usually any one will suffice as they're all "modular" and can be merged with each other and so on. -

Amen to that, Nevada has been discussed for years. Arma 3 mapmakers take on average a month or more and they're very good quality maps indeed. Granted yes, the scale is totally different from what we're used to in DCS but overall if it takes this long to get a map I'll be able to legally retire when another map rolls out. -

In two years right? Yeah unless it redefines simming I may look into it, but overall things have to REALLY change for me to be interested. I keep SF2 on my HD to help out people but overall I'm kinda stuck in an Arma 3 fix for now. -

Agreed, I haven't done much DACT in DCS nor have I touched it after a bit... now that things are calming down in my life I' able to refocus on things again. -

missile avoidance
EricJ replied to bigpig98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'll go with Caesar as most of my -120D shots even against a Flogger i end up missing most of the time at max range, as usually he's flying perpendicular so I waste a good missile. Of course if he "sniffs" me then a closing shot is nearly a 100% guarantee given AI logic during the shot. -

Pretty much, the C-101 looks cool and somebody will enjoy it but I'm not going to get it, that's for sure. -

I thought about doing one, but obviously never did, nice work... -
Not sure if anyone's seen this.
EricJ replied to Dillon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well whenever Coretex gets the Super released I'll get it for sure, but hands down I do like DCS over SF2, but given the lack of attention I've let it fall by the wayside since it's only fun for DACTs. I haven't touched it as much lately (Arma 3 has my focus, along with DCS again, had too much going on to focus on two at once) or thought about it, but it's still installed. -
Aircraft "porpoising". Why?
EricJ replied to DoctorQuest's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Having done a lot of DACTs I just assume they're trying to force an overshoot while doing that. I've seen the same plane porpoise (on porpoise) and fly normal given different flight regimes, or during different states. It really could be something but that's how I approach it anyway. -

Yeah having been on the inside the stuff has to be declassified or not classified. Anything with even a Confidential level (or foreign equivalent) is not touched. At the least they may have access but realistically its not a military simulator, so no classified material, which is the reason why some projects can't be done to their true capability. Even for my JTAC manual I had to make sure the Laser Cone was publicly described in order for me to put it. Suffice to say if you can find the material without going to WikiLeaks or equivalent, you're safe. -

Su-25 United Nations [Fictional]
EricJ posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series File Announcements
File Name: Su-25 United Nations [Fictional] File Submitter: EricJ File Submitted: 21 January 2015 File Category: Su-25 Skins This was a request and he said it was okay to make it public. Nothing too special as the aircraft is all white with some weathering to break up the color. Other than that it's fairly simple, and with the Su-25 select "Su-25 UN" in the drop down menu for the Paint scheme. Click here to download this file -
Su-25 United Nations [Fictional]
EricJ replied to EricJ's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series File Announcements
I guess, I like and prefer the -25T more than the normal Frogfoot, I'm a precision weapons kind of guy and suck with visual targeting and engagement, one of the reasons I don't fly the Su-33 much anymore. It doesn't have that capability so not interested. -

Yeah even the PM conversation (SkateZilla) I've had with him he's been real busy himself. Now that my personal life will settle down hopefully I can refocus back on doing stuff again. -
Another Trainer?
EricJ replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Fair enough I guess but still it's able to be done. I mean SkateZilla was able to program the electrical system. There's little documentation but i do have a linky if anybody's interested, but overall it won't be too hard to implement avionics, but the issue is of course classification which is of course a major issue with any modern aircraft.
