  1. Well I got to finish up that A-10 skin so I'll muck with it tomorrow and see what I can get for you.
  2. Moved the tailcode a bit, and went with a bird circa 1990 (given the reference from Airliners.net) just to get something going, though methinks that the crests are a bit small, so I'll probably tweak them a bit larger.
  3. Er... odd I don't know how to describe it... I stay away from official terms as I'm a more hands on guy. but from what i can think it's pressing the advantage against the attacker in a vertical fight. Usually "press" is usually in fighter jock terms (Caesar can probably tell it better) is go for the attack, i.e. get aggressive, so if you "press" the attack it means to start pushing for the advantage, etc. and get the kill regardless of aspect between you and the opposing fighter, and especially if you know you have the advantage, so you push to get into a good firing position. Admittedly I don't take the time to do research on the stuff, I just go with layman's terms (because really in most sense I approach it that way) since that makes more sense than highfalutin terms.
  4. Now that you bring it up that's a good point, it's not yeah... "cool". Granted it works so I can't disagree on that point however given my experience downrange but agreed, they always look better in green
  5. Yep, there's plans in the future for a DCS portion of my school, but right now I'm staying focused on Arma 3 for the time being.
  6. Thanks man, yeah I agree, that's how I really know the Hog you know? I mean the two-tone grey is nice but the Euro is what I remember best on Hogs more than the current scheme. Makes it look badass really.
  7. Well after the drama of yesterday... got a bit lazy (man I'm getting old...). Anyway 81st TFW will be the unit. Back then they had WR so the skin will reflect it, just have to find a good crest though. And for inquiring minds who want to know I don't like trolls, I have zero tolerance regardless of their position. Sure I got it I'm not familiar with some things, but being a jackass won't get you anywhere with me.
  8. Me; F/A-18F Block II EPE with 4 x AIM-9X, 6 x AIM-120D, tank, gun Opposition: F-5E with 2 x AIM-9J/Ns (I think I got the type right... I think). Guns, tank Takeaways: Man I needed every little bit of power with that thing... as you can see the small size of the F-5 throws you off greatly, as when he tried to gun me down I didn't know where he really was (other than in front since I was using padlock) in relation to me. The first shot was a pure 50/50 chance of even going in the right direction and obviously I got the bad half. Reviewing the FM its not to my knowledge a UFO its just a really zippy (and small of course) plane that works around you trying to get on you and you just have to use padlock to have an idea. I'd also like to call the last shot an "Off-boresight" shot but I'd be lying as it was on the right edge of the HUD so I'll claim a HUD shot rather to be honest. Other than that it's a good indication that I need to use better judgement especially with that fighter, as when it slowed down and decided to level out gave me (and I was glad I could pull around like that or I would have missed the shot. But it's a tenacious opponent and given the agility of the EPE it still was a challenge.
  9. I had one yesterday but the video got jacked up. So I'll redo it and see if the video takes hold better.
  10. Here's a basic mission file that you can work with. The Su-33 is used and you can simply fly the waypoints, the last one before landing is roughly at the target area (Waypoint 3) so you can add labels. Best thing to do is to keep your attacks from N to S, S to N, SE to NW or NE to SW. Labels are on as well but it should provide some training. I'm not sure if the JTAC will communicate if you're flying a Russian jet so here it is anyway. Practice.7z
  11. I'd recommend setting up your stick so it's stable as it's a real pain in the ass to get (as last week) set right, but once you do its a great aircraft. Heavier than the -27 but I've had more experience with the -33 most definitely. As far as when is when we do it, so there's no set day or time, if the main man we play with is available to, we'll do some more, and that's quite honestly as even I don't know when he'll be able to play.
  12. Linky no worky saisran. I may have the OVT handy but if not I'll get it sometime. Nice DACT though.
  13. Thanks! I could have... should have mentioned as the Yo-Yo entered the mind when I was both during the engagement and watching the vid. As mentioned by zwz that the -35 went into a Cobra like attitude (a nugget could have had me dead to rights in all honesty) and it just eventually degenerated from there. I guess I was expecting a UFO-like attitude and instead looking back it seems it was more defensive than offensive (no gun? going to have to check that out) but I think in that case the Cobra shot was ill-timed and bad angle as he had no shot (which he had until he did what he did). So basically man I'm scratching my head. Tomorrow I'll get the Su-37 checked out before I see how that turns out. Apparently the Super Flankers are just not cutting it. The MKI however does give some push so maybe I'll "warm up" or just roll and see how the Terminator goes.
  14. Catching up.... I took a look at some reference photos so I have to sharpen the texture up a bit, not too much as I think it looks okay but... I'll see what I can do.
  15. Yeah he wasn' t really pushing that much (compared to the UFO Su-27) so it was easy to keep on his tail or maneuver (as I did several times) and shoot him. I only applied air brakes so I wouldn't ram him (towards the end).
  16. Me: F-35A with 4 x AIM-120C, 6 x AIM-9X, gun Opposition: Su-35 with 6 x AA-11s, 6 x AA-10As Takeaways: Don't use Insky as well... we all know the history but for some reason it wouldn't load AA-11s so I spent some time getting that jet squared away as it would only load Ataka A-A missiles, so after some moaning and groaning I got it to load the weapons correctly (why it wouldn't I don't know, frakkin Chinese imports). The first bout (not shown) the Su-35 actually flew into the ground (credited with the kill though) so I decided to give it another try. As you can see I guess he's using the thrust vectoring and for the most part had easy shots on him (I really don't see him) had I decided to end it after about a minute or two (when he started maneuvering) so all in all the video shows me really in the kill slot once I got into position. Remember he has to work out of it and me work into a shot for it to be called an honest days work. Also of note the aircraft for some reason noses up when I pass right in front of him. I did that during a DACT in DCS and took some rounds from a Mig-21 (he went vertical, and I slid right in front of him, and he took the shot) so makes me wonder on Excellent how good the pilots are...) and got shot down in my precious Su-33. But realistically there's not much other than the ability to literally play with the Su-35 as it was okay for a bout after tweaking the loadout so it would work properly.
  17. I can add to that (though it wasn't me, or maybe it was... it's been a while...) as in some cases burner is good but you have to realize that sometimes you have throw the brakes out and throttle down to get better turn performance as while AB gives you energy... it also makes your turns harder so you have to do as such to get in and not pull too hard on the stick, a firm pull on the stick is better than a hard pull sometimes. I found I do have an Su-35 myself so I'll get to the F-35/Su-35 bout later on. But I'd check with the moderators saisran as you've been long enough to be able to edit your posts...
  18. Running as CAS in the Flanker. I prefer the -33 as it's tuned (my jet was all over the place earlier so I couldn't get a good run in with guns) but this was my third time flying the -27 in this manner.
  19. Given AI performance... it's worth a shot (no pun intended) so I'll find an Su-35BM to download and shoot it down. Anyway, created a DCS version as well (if you fly that as well): http://combatace.com/topic/84361-dcs-series-dact-reports-simulation-only/?view=getnewpost
  20. I had thought about opening up this topic in the ED Forums but... no, more like hell no. You tell somebody not to post political discussions or keep it within the simulation you'll get five hundred posts about real world stuff and not simulated stuff, which is the intent. Like the SF2 version: - 1 v 1 or multiple engagements to include Multiplayer - BVR is okay but given the "boring" nature of it I'll think it's cool - Have fun Tracks and screenshots are welcome (but make sure to specify a particular module if we don't own one).
  21. Me: Su-33 with 4 x R-73, 2 x R-27TE, gun Opposition: F-86 Sabre Modules Required: Flaming Cliffs 3 Track file included. Takeaways: Honestly I had expected to roll over the Sabre but as the track file shows, it wasn't as easy as i hoped. Given that this had been years (last time I did anything with the series was with Flanker 2.51) I figured I'd give it a shot, no pun intended. The Sabre can actually maneuver better than the Su-33 and my first bout I literally entered a "Top Gun" flat spin (unrecoverable) trying to shoot the Sabre down but this bout obviously turned out better. It should be noted that I did "cheat" with Padlock and not sure (it's been a while) but changing the views may change the outcome if done so. Overall the Su-33 (and the Su-27, but the Crane is a little more forgiving) due to it's weight when pushed too hard, is not a capable dogfighter (as evidenced by the flat spin I went into) due to it's heavy weight, and the least preferred jet in the multiplayer community. However as I'm re-learning, pulling firmly is more rewarding than pulling too hard. After I synced myself to that, I got more capable against lighter fighters, such as the Sabre. Su-33-Sabre DACT.7z
