  1. Mission: Karun Bridge Strike Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F (NE107) At the local request of a coalition ground commander NE107 was dispatched to destroy the Karun bridge in order to prevent reinforcements from threatening the border. NE107 departed Ali Al Salem at 1000 local hours. NE107 detected and was preparing to engage two F-4E Phantoms when they were destroyed by coalition air defenses. NE107 dropped both of its GBU-12s and returned without any incident.
  2. Mission: Dezful Rocket Battery Recon mission Aircraft: NE110 NE110 departed Ali Al Salem to recon reported Scud launch areas. Enroute to Dezful NE110 encountered two F-5Fs heading west. NE110 fired a total of three AIM-120Cs, missing with one but the other two shot down the two aircraft. After that NE110 landed safely. While Dezful is out of the VFA-2's killbox the CAG felt that keeping tabs on what could be a possible threat sanctioned this recon mission. He is working on more target planning in designated killbox but needed in his words, "Something different".

After hitting the IP NE103 engaged one CWAR at Kharg Island destroying it. The remainder of the aircraft destroyed targets around Bushehr Airport and Bushehr, effectively eliminating any threat to Strike Package. NOTE: Mission was run from NE100 so all kills are attributable to SEAD flight, clean pylons on return.

  14. Mission: Strike on munitions warehouse in Tehran Aircraft: 1 x F/A-18F NE101 After verifying damage on Tehran SAM/AAA sites the mission was given by USCENTCOM personnel who provided information on the munitions warehouse. NE101 departed Ali Al Salem and proceeded at low level to Tehran. Upon reaching the area NE101 detected and engaged two J-10 aircraft. NE101 launched two AMRAAMs with one destroying one aircraft and missing the other. NE101 continued pressing on the remaining aircraft, attempting to surprise it by launching an AIM-9X, damaging it but was also hit by a close range missile and severely damaged. For some unknown reason the J-10 pilot did not press the attack and NE101 launched both JSOWs which eventually struck and destroyed the warehouse. NE101 reports firing his last AIM-9X but missing the J-10 as he was egressing at low level. Upon realizing his damage NE101 did what was called a "gear check" which was determined from reviewing the gun tape that he did it while still in Iran. Aircraft lost the right stabilizer and reviewing the tape showed that the pilot had difficulty in most flight with a port leaning flight profile but managed to successfully land the aircaft without further damage.
  15. TO: JFC SHAPE FROM: VFA-2 STRIKE ON BUSHEHR AMMO BUNKER SUCCESSFUL.
