How do I get DT Skins to show in SF2...?
EricJ replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think we had that issue due to game limitations with the Supa Bug. No way to really make that happen unless we sacrifice some slots correct? And will the SF2 engine be able to release them correct? -
How do I get DT Skins to show in SF2...?

From what I understand the mapping for the aircaft's drop tank is part of the aircraft skin. So in order to change the drop tank skin, you have to find the part on the aircraft skin where the texture for the aircraft is mapped. SFG/WoX didn't have this ability, so now SF2 allows you to do this, so far with stock skins. Cool thing TK adds a little touch but doesn't caress the modders heart right. -

Dude don't say that, maybe when you're out of the country..... I've talked to an "Eaglette" and a Kiowaett, and even an Apachette. No man, it sounds always better to hear a female than a dude, but while still in country I'll refrain from mocking female pilots... And Spinners most definitely the most exotic... scheme ever... Does honestly look cool though -
Vista/WOV problems
EricJ replied to Stingray72's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Remember or write down the .dll (I know what you're talking about) and Google it. You should find it available for download (for free). Once you put that in your WOV Main Folder, the game will play. I have the same issue and keep a copy in case you have to download the other series (SFG/WOE/WOI). -
Anatolian Terrain (WIP)

Well it'd be a definite treat for some new (and hopefully lots) target sets. It'd be interesting to see how that works out... -
To get or not to get Vista is the question
EricJ replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Along with MB, I don't really have any love for Vista... not much anyways. Mine freezes up depending on what programs I'm running so it really makes me leery about doing anything sometimes. So if there's no need to get Vista, you're really not missing much. Matter of fact I wish it had XP on there, didn't have nearly the same problems with that than I do with Vista. -

After LOMAC and seeing it for real, I wish the Targeting Pod worked as it does IRL. It is soo nice to be able to target stuff without having to take a random chance. -
Freakin' SA-8's
EricJ replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As above, but most of the time I just pick them off for giggles. Don't take them lighly but the best thing to do is jink heavily. As with any sim, the bullets are aimed either by eye or by the Gun Dish on the Shilka. The more you maneuver, the harder it is for them to hit you, simply put. As for targeting... hit E until the ZSU is targeted, and hit F4 for padlock, and if it's the one you want, learn how to maneuver your a/c until you get within a few degrees (Mavs can sorta offboresight, but my EELs are great for that ) launch and pull away, and if you hit it, the view will return to center. If there's no SAM threat then go high and pick them off. -

But I'm also open-minded, as it's not era-specific either. I'll break it down by decades in order for a more varied setup. -

Okay before this gets out of hand: - Whatever works for you. Do I fly in Hard mode? No. Should I? Maybe. The fact of the matter is that if you're going to submit something, it'll be your personal responsibilty to explain the tactic, whatever, in whatever mode you're working with, both pros and cons. No need to get into a contest on who's more experienced or who's not. It's customizable to whatever suits you, fine, but be sure to explain that X tactic works with Y flight model. It's the only way to be fair. And it goes to say that there's enough drama going in the flight sim community, my site should you choose to submit, is not a place for it. Nor is it a place to besmirch somebody's preference. I've flown sims for 15 or so years, so if I prefer Normal while others prefer Hard, so be it. -

I've been PMing PACMAN about defeating the SA-10... and while real world info is nice... it doesn't help the sim pilot given the complexities and how much people know. Well not sure how you want to work it FC if you are all going to go ahead with it, or just like "Guest writer" etc... that is of course you plan to submit or create your own site. And that's fine scouserlad13, just send when able. pureblue yes, most flight sim communities have them, and Ironhand's LOMAC site was the best "clearing house" for most tactics and tutorials for that sim, and always was a great site to visit. -

Well the basics are fine, but this isn't so much like an "operational" squadron. Internet reliability and all that while deployed is a different matter, but may exercise that option when I get back to the states. It's merely another training squadron (much like the USAF, etc.) but not a "fully functional" one. And I never MP SFG ever so it's mainly tutorial based, not so much as live. But if you can work something up I wouldn't mind.. I've still got a few things to tweak before I release something of my own.
