Fast Movers Are Cool But...
Skyviper posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Like the saying goes "An army moves on its stomach." I live a few hours south of the worlds largest C-130 base so I'm seeing these things fly over my home all the time. Now I like Strike Fighters love it. But I was wondering if there are any or if any campaigns built on the support role exists or could exist. I understand the engine provides limitations to what a mod author can and cannot do. But could one cheat? For instance deploying troops to a specified drop zone. Could an object such a smoke canister spewing yellow (or the correct color) smoke into the air be made? "Destroying" this object will result in troops or supplies being delivered. Is it also possible to have missions start from point a but end and point b when the aircraft touches down? Just wondering. Please forgive my ignorance. I understand that to most of you C-130s C-5s and whatnot seem like slow boring aircraft. But they are just as important as the fast movers. Thank you for your time. -

Anyway playing the SFNA?
Skyviper posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm loving the North Atlantic. (Wish I could use that chopper and do rescue missions though) Everything is cool except the hawkeye voice, though not bad, just doesn't seem to blend well with game. All in all that's a cool game. I'm trying to master my BVR tactics though. -

ROFL Yeah I asked a stupid question. I deserved that. How about So what do you think of SFNA? I like that voice set MigBuster recommended much better. Already got the medal of honor and don't know how. I bombed a runway, then took out a small enemy base near the runway. Next thing the game say my character received the medal of honor. -
So a buddy of mine is going to court for the killing a man's raccoon hunting dog (coon dawg). The man is suing my friend for $4,500 and if my friend doesn't have the money then the plantiff can take anything off my friends property that equates to the value he's suing for. Here's the story. My friend the Marine, is at home. Its a dark night. He hears a commotion from a field across the road, he figured it may have been coyotes fighting. They get closer and he starts to make out silhouettes and sees them cross his neighbor's drive way, they cross the road and enter his yard. Now at this time the Marine's wife is attempting to get a nine month old baby in their house, the animals are only 75 ft away from the wife and baby. As the pack get's closer my friend shoots a round into the air. All but one of the animals flee. The remaining one approaches the wife and child, growling and showing teeth, and my friend shoots the animal. It was on the ground yelping in pain. When he gets closer he realizes that's it a coon dog and because the dog was in so much pain my friend made a mercy kill. He then waited and flagged down the owner of the dog (which was a quarter mile down the road) and explained the situation. The owner, in a police report states that the dog cost him $2000 dollars, he's suing for $4500. The owner also said that his $4000 hunting dog was gun shy and would've ran away. My buddy collected a lot of evidence to back his case up and I hope he comes out okay today.

Yeah that gave me goosebumps writing that.

@Crazyhorse This is the Marine. I appreciate and respect your point of view. However Skyviper didn't provide all of the facts. When I shot the dog it was within twenty five feet of my wife and baby at a dead run. It was a red tick english coonhound. Weighed 70lbs. The direction the dog was running would've intercepted my wife and baby from making into the house. My wife weighs 120lbs, the baby weighs 24. This occurred at 10:30 during the night. I'm a dog lover and do not believe any animal should die needlessly; however, I happen to love my family more. I broke no laws but was judged to pay for loss of property in civil court and would gladly pay that again to defend my family. I am well prepared to defend my loved ones against any threat and would be willing to lay my life down in their defense. Let no man or creature lay harm to your loved ones. In my humble opinion any man that would does not have the right to call themselves a man. Furthermore I did not volunteer to defend my country to simply be held prisoner in my home by a dog. I will not set idly by because that's the problem with the world today with people sitting idly by allowing threats to imprison them. [Dictated by the Marine. Written by Skyviper]

Is AAR something that can happen?
Skyviper posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Just read a thread from two years ago talking about the subject. Then it wasn't possible, however someone did make a refuel patch that uses a false engine and thrust vectoring to refuel an aircraft. I know thirdwire is a company consisting of three guys sucking down mountain due and eating beef jerky to revive a lost art. I'm just asking if that feature is now possible. I found some KC-135s and that got me to thinking. Oh is there also a way for me to fly back to a previous waypoint once I land at home base. In case I missed my target and need to rearm and refuel and head back out. And lastly is there a way to re-launch from a carrier? Thanks -

Cool thank you for taking the time to give me the info. I just found the command for rearming while on ground something like REARM_WEAPONS = ALT+W. Oh well maybe some day there will be AAR methods available. -
I think it was a blue tick hound. (not for sure. It wasn't beagle though) I'm sure if the wife could've outran the animals they would have. My friend has a gorgeous dog himself and he told me that if his dog ever got on someone property. He wouldn't hold anything against them if they had to kill his dog. He would collect the body, with tears in eyes, and move on. The animal that was shot was displaying aggressive behavior, it was on the corner of the house and could have easily intercepted the wife and baby. The fact that he fired a warning shot just shows that he didn't want to kill them unless absolutely had to. The rest ran away the one charged and was put down. Now the owner should've seen that the dogs where nowhere near the hunting grounds and should have redirected them accordingly I think.

He lost. It was civil court. His proof would have got him off if it was criminal court. And the Plaintiff testified that he paid $100. And the "judge"( lawyer standing in for a judge) feels that the dog could have been sold for 1000 so the Marine has to pay $1000. He's in route to appeal. Oh and there is no documentation proving that the dog is worth 1000
-
We're awaiting the verdict now. It could go either way. (he emailed this to me at 12:58 today) The dog was well on the Marine's property no doubt about that.

Sorry I didn't mention this before. He lives in a rural area and these people were hunting raccoons.

Oh I thought it was something I did. Glad things are back to normal.

That's so awesome! Words can't begin to describe how captivated and thrilled I am.
