What will be next in cockpits?
UllyB replied to alexis99's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
sooo, you stole my idea... Building a plane is child's play compared to a cockpit in TIME units. As I know all cockpit gurus here are busy for years with their cockpit projects. Conclusion: there are few to none available hands on the deck for such task here. Unless one of them owe you a big favor or you can pay them to let their work to do yours, forget about it. You could end the thread here. PS - after every two or three years you will notice that a new cockpit entered the download section and that only if the author is not changing his mind to share it. -

I agree that planes which don't exist yet, so there won't be enough credible data to build a model should go. But let here some other opinions before I am using my knife LOL -

Folks , there's a problem with the vote system I didn't anticipated. The Website Poll applet allows just 15 item to choose from and there are 33 planes total in the final list, so...instead of complicating things and making at least 2x15 choices (and hopping that none will vote twice different planes LOL) we better make up our minds for a final 15 contestants list. So please take a good look to the preliminary list and let me know what you've decided. If this will be sorted out until Monday (enough time I hope), then we will have a poll Tuesday for two or three days, to let enough time for all to vote. If there is a better solution I would like to hear it. -

Taliban popping everywhere
UllyB replied to citizen67's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You shouldn't be surprised, they are ..Talibans, that's what they do, they expand like a gas and kill people, blow themselves up etc if any newcomer to Strike Fighter 2 series let them out. In Strike Fighter 1 series this issue is secured, through a workaround made by me: if they try to run out of Afghanistan map they, automatically are transformed in...goats and goats can be easy to kill (you just strafe with your plane's cannon) And NO, there is no way to solve this. Once they escape in the world they won't exit and gather all in Afghanistan unless you reset the game and then the pc, in this precise order ;) Otherwise their number is doubling on the map. -

Good news folks, the SU-34 is back into the game, today I had the confirmation. But I need a hand and as I know you , you will all help. Please give me all you've got as important reference info I should take into consideration (photos, schemes, important technical details that one must take into consideration when building the 3D model etc). I need them quickly to pass them to the team responsible for it. The sooner I have them, the sooner the plane will be finished ;) Thank you in advance -

how to change the flyable aircraft in the campaign
UllyB replied to roony265's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Check these things, maybe they will help pinpointing the issue: - in the campaign data.ini file, 1) is the plane syntax written correct ? 2) is asigned a squadron to the respective plane ? 3) is the correct nation designated for the plane ? - in campaign INI file, 1) is created a squadron which match the campaign data.ini file entry for it ? 2) is the correct StartDate for the selected plane ? 3) Does the name of the selected plane match the one from campaign data.ini file ? 4) Are the UnitID entries in chronological order ? Check that -

Some weapons aren't showing up
UllyB replied to thejackie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
To see a weapon on your plane needs more things to be checked and in order than you might think. These are some common errors beginners oftenly do: - The 3D model is not present in weapons folder - The syntax is wrong in some of the needed files - The weapon declaration/syntax is missing from a plane's pylon - one didn't pay attention that some weapons are specific to some pylons/aircraft and only ! Always, if something looks wrong, first take a look, in weapon editor for STATION CODE box! -

Please consider using GuidanceType=2/3 (CGR) as a work around instead for Large Single Pylon Missiles or GuidanceType=1 (WGR) for smaller weapons that may require Rack mounting (ATR). The GuidanceType doesn't affect the WeaponDataType so both a LGB GBU-12 (WeaponDataType=0) and an EOGR Laser AGM-65 (WeaponDataType=1) use the same GuidanceType (GuidanceType=4 Laser). -
Question: A thought for an ARH missiles workaround
UllyB replied to rogueranger1993's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
As I know, but maybe I am wrong, the AI doesn't have any problem to avoid or at least to try avoiding them (Not even in SF1 series I don't remember to encounter this problem). What I know is that you won't hear the RWR if they are launched at you, though your wingmen will warn you about them if you pay attention enough. Of course you can modify an AMRAAM letting the weapons editor "know" that is a SAHM missile, but the realism would be out of the window in the next second, wouldn't it ? So it depends why you are here, that is what you have to ask yourself first. Are you for the military aircraft simulator or are you here just for the ride ? See my point ? ;) Also is true that TK didn't bother to work AHM a little more to suit the case in question here. Maybe he will do it someday, but I can't tell you when that day will be. :) -

The Dornier won't enter the list. We already cut the list, to make it short (look at it now, does it look short to you ? ) , eliminating WWII, Transport and Training. But Training ones got back at the insistently request of the community. So... However , you're on with other two, I'll add them to the "small" list :D PS - you can remove the initial post, you have an option to delete it.
