PL-5 Chinese A-A missile LOD
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
God, how stupid I am, it's not the PL-8 it's the PL-5B I was talking about in my previous post. I am sorry I missled you, it's my fault. I was thinking to that one and I wrote another thing. This one you showed to me I already have it. It's gorgeous. The model (Pl-5B) it's quite accurate, I saw its picture on the net, so that is why I hope I can save it somehow. I will correct the title of the thread. Please forgive me for missleading you. It was not intentionaly, I am tired after a long trip. -

A.I. loadout.ini matter
UllyB posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have question if you please. If I add, in plane's data.ini a specific A.I. mission type, among the others that a plane already has, should I write down, separately, in plane's loadout.ini what weapons will it load for it ? I guess I have to. What syntax do I must use in front/header of the respective section ? An example would be enough I guess. Should I add anything else, in other files/sections etc ? Thank you! -

Game Crashing During Campaign
UllyB replied to Sabre1BR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
It happened to me, too when I was adding cockpit to fly a stock plane which was meant for A.I. only. The solution it worked was to change its AIRCRAFTROLE= in plane's dataini file, from BOMBER to ATTACK. Do that and your troubles will end. But all these works ONLY if your installation is flawless, of course. If you installation is screwed, you have to do as Wrench instructed. -

I tested the Kuznetsov brought by Gepard to CombatAce. It works very well for carrier operations. It has some details that must be taken care of , but nothing big to stay in a way of a good experience. I did a little research of what Riga (the second Kuznetsov class which was never built in the end by Soviet Union, just sold to China which made a carrier from it) could 've been and I bumped into Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft Yakovlev Yak-44 wannabe, cause, this one, too, was never built. This passag caught my attention: "Had the Russians went on to develop Yak-44 & its variants, undoubtedly Yak-44 would have been one of the best multipurpose maritime aircrafts to have ever been operated, since Yak-44 was envisaged to have twice the range, twice the fuel capacity & twice the endurance of E-2 Hawkeye." If I wanna build it...can it be made to take off and land on Gepard's Kuznetsov ? It's a simple question apparently, depending who is answering it. I invite you, the veteran ones and specialist in such predictions, to tell their opinion. If I like what I hear I might have it in my future plans. Thank you. PS - I know that the plane was intended for Ulianovsk class carrier if anyone wonders; also I didn't have, yet, the chance to test the Ulianovsk carrier for myself, so some input , if any, would be welcome, too , here for the cause. :)

Thanks for reminding me the syntax. I will write it down in my notes. -

LOOOL I never saw that coming!!! Well another lesson learnt. Even if it wouldn't cross your mind that someone will do that, it's a good idea, even if you think for the moment that it would be a waste of time, to check first. -

UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks, I'll see what I can do. UPDATE I took a look at the model. If I remember correctly, at least in SF1 one could, you could hide parts of the model elements rooted in [aircraftdata] section through a syntax in plane's dataini. If so it's a piece of cake making it look like YAK-44, which misses the interior two VSTABs. Please correct me if I'm wrong. -

That's the spirit! Me too, in the beginning I thought that I will never rise to the challenge and that I will never be able to create something worth it here around. But having the chance to know better, as years passed by, this wonderful CombatAce community I realized that nothing it's impossible if you put your mind to it and today I brought here a plane, and soon I'll bring another one, the YAK-130. You have to believe in yourself and take what is good from the others even if they can be harsh with you, sometimes, when you are doing something wrong. -

I understand. Well your project is, from start, ambitious, I give you that. If I were you, except everything else, that looks cool if you ask me, I would skip the country notation thing pinned with every price on the menu. You are complicate yourself here I think. But it's just my opinion, you don't have to stumble in it, honestly. Sometimes when you have an idea and you talk to people, you can get a spark which will spawn better things in your path. As you build something you have to stick with the bigger picture ("why am I creating this thing for?") and NOT to let yourself overwhelmed by the exciting , multiple possibilities spontaneous occured, meaning that you have to manage/focus to the menu elements, trying in the same time, if possible, not to mix them with "field" elements, if you know what I mean. It's is true, the SF2 structure leaves you little room to maneuver here and between. But judging from what I saw so far, I think you are on the right path. Good luck! -

I am really sorry to hear that you, both had and have such problems with your vision. And I , who thought, that going through a rhynopharinx cancer, it can't be worse than that. As a person who brushed with death and met the suffering, on both levels, I can sympathize with you guys. The vision is the most important sense of a human being and I bet it can ruin quickly one's morale if strong will is not present in that person. -
Tank and battle sounds
UllyB replied to citizen67's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I think it's nice to hear their specific sound, even if , maybe, it's not realistic. It's a game after all, not an USA military simulator. Just my opinion , of course. -

I looked to the last picture. If I see IL-28 (export) how do I know on spot where is it from ? Let's say I am in Middle East terrain. How do I know if it's Syrian, Egyptian or Iraqian ? Maybe its decals are telling me nothing or maybe I don't know the symbols and color of different nations encapsulated in a paintjob etc. It's practical and easier if you name them by countries (Il-28 (Iraq) ) I would know on spot where it is from, right ? That's the way I named my files in folders. I know at a short glance where are they from, all of them. -

I know what you are saying exactly. The self-preservation kicks in when your brain considered that something is dangerous (the reptilian brain, they say that we inherited from dinosaurs, meaning that we sense the danger when it's close instinctively). When I was young and joined the army like any other young people in my country, I was presented to the occasion to join the paratroopers, but , instinctively I refused, I knew from others' stories that jumping from a plane was there mandatory. After serving 9 months in the infantry, I winded up regreting it, the food was better there LOOOL -

Wow, it must've been dreadful. I am sorry man you had trouble with these ramps. Well , when you said "jump" did you mean the plane was airborne or it was just parked on the airstrip ? If it was in air , man falling or stumbling there on the ramp I guess can be fatal for some, but if it was on the ground level, well it's a different story. But , of course you can break an ankle even from half of a meter high when you jump and you're not paying attention. Nice chatting with you. -

LOL I might as I said, IF, the crowd is really interested in it. -
Sorry , there will be no cockpit this time (budget limitations plus it would have taken a lot of time to be made). And if I'm thinking of it, I don't know if there is any solid info about the real YAK-130 cockpit for the moment but I might be wrong.
