Loadout.ini new lines
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So THAT is the explanation I was searching for. Having work with SF Israel only I didn't know that these updated settings for loadout were brought by SF2 NA, though I suspected that something was changed and I didn't understand the reason . Now it's clear. Thank you. By the way I saw, in a SF2 plane, I can't remember now which, a FAC setting for loadout. Does that work , too now ? -
Files disappearing ?
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Nope it was not that. I installed all SF2 games with updates and everything , as anyone elses, after that I followed the suggestions from the knowledge base given by MIGBUSTER ("Running mods from a different disk partition"), how to move folder content outside , in order to protect it from interferrence. I only moved the SF Israel content as instructed. Except that file which I modified it (hangarscreen.ini), nothing , until now, disappeared from this folder. That is why I found it odd and I came here to ask people. PS - As a precaution after I mod a plane or something to that plane, A.I. or not, I copy it into a backup folder. I hate that something could ruin my work of hours. -

If you noticed Sir, I was not talking about planes (until now A.I. planes and stock planes didn't disappear from where I put them) , a modified HANGARSCREEN.INI file disappeared which is different. Do you have an explanation for that from experience ? -
inconsistency ?
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I understand what you are saying. In this case what source can one rely on ? It's a pertinent/fair question for me now. I think you will agree that not everyone is ex pilot, worked in military aviation industry or have a military pilot friend, to know all these better than anyone else, right ? Tweaking my planes has to rely on real information otherwise I can't see why I should do it anymore. -

I found additional sources which confirms , except the Mavericks , the wikipaedia Kfir C2 loadout. Please take a look. https://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=152 This one confirms/supports 100% what Wikipaedia says: https://military-wiki.com/iai-kfir-the-lion-cub-of-israel/ By the way , how do you know that Wikipaedia is wrong ? What is your argument except that YOU think that they are wrong ? I am just asking to be able to make an opinion about the whole thing. Also could you indicate a source which supports your saying ? -

Loadout.ini new lines

You missundestood me. I was not asking about how a certain weapon ends up there after a certain date (that thing I understood long ago). I was asking a different thing: what were those setting TITLES doing there and how do they work. As you noticed Wrench just slapped me without letting me know WHY they are there and how a STRIKE_NAVAL_CRUISE_MISSILE work with those settings exactly. Maybe you can explain that to me or maybe Wrench will have a change of heart which is a fat chance in my case :) -

UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Nope, It's not that, I checked, GBU-12D for instance is 2.25 length and 275Kg. Also diameter is not specified on wing so it works any value here. -

Even if they are put outside the Program Files x86 folder ? I thought that outside if I make a custom mod folder there would be no interferrence of any kind. Am I wrong ? -
Antiship missiles arhitecture
UllyB posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Did the SF2 game engine integrate Antiship missile "mechanic" or is the same SF1 CGR missile type thing I have to use ? If it did integrate the antiship missile mechanic, should I use ASM on wings for loading ? -

Launching a heat seeking missile falling effect
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, I did some thorough dig and you are right. The sustainer motor work in conjunction with the delay factors and heat seeking missile don't have any so that is why I can't get the effect (and yes I already admitted, I know that in reality heat seeking missile don't fall prior to their launch). It's simple , I couldn't see it from the first time. Sorry, my fault. However thank you for open my eyes on the matter. -
One of the first things I liked in this Strike Fighter series sim was the realistic way missiles fall before turning on their motor and spring forward. Things, through weapon editor, could be set nicely in SF1 series. I thought I can do that, too, in SF2 weapon editor, but no matter the delay or booster parameters fixed by me, the heat seeking missile just springs forward without falling first. Can anyone tell me how can I set the missile to fall first before turning its motor on please ? I noticed thtat Sparrows work just fine when I set these parameters for falling.Thank you. PS - I know that heat seeking missiles are faster and they don't technical fall like heavier ones.

Graphics Problem

I very doubt that friend. What system do you have ? What OS do you use? Could you tell me on components what you've got ? -

UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So you mean that the weapons editor settings (the delays parameters I couldtweak ) are ignored directly by the game's engine which is set to make the effect of heat seeking missile directly from the programming lines only ? You know that for sure or are you just guessing ? -

All of them. I tried the AIM-9 range and some Russians A-8 and A-8B PS - Have you notice my reply in Willie Pete thread ? -
Willie Pete effects
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks a lot! Just a question if you please, are these for SF1 ? I ask that because I saw lines for SF1 shaders inside the files. Or should I just "adjust" the shaders puting "ter" in front of the shaders name ? Or do they work anyway in SF2 with older settings for SF1 ? PS - Also noticed that ini files were saved in ANSI onstead of Unicode as it should in SF2 -
Willie Pete effects
UllyB posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I encountered in some weapon packs some entries for the MISSILEOBJECT.INI file, but the effects were not there, there were just the entries for them: GroundHitEffectName=WilliePeteGroundExplosion GroundHitEffectName=GreenWilliePeteGroundExplosion GroundHitEffectName=RedWilliePeteGroundExplosion GroundHitEffectName=YellowWilliePeteGroundExplosion Additionally I encountered this entry , too: GroundHitEffectName=RocketSmokeMarkerEffect EffectClassName=FlechetteRocketEffects EffectClassName=InertRocketEffects I checked the weapons SF2 download section and I couldn't find them. Doesn anyone have them (the respective effect ini files) or tell me where I can find them please ? Thank you. -

I see, now it makes sense. However if you ever want a smooth smoke effect just buzz me. Cheers! -
trail of smoke stays longer
UllyB replied to jack33's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I learn everyday how divers is the world/people. You want a trail smoke to stay longer, I use a smooth smoke trail because I think that the stock one is inconsistent and ugly. -
Where are the effects ini files in the archive ? I can't find them. I would like to see the MissileFireEffect.ini content and if the LongRangeMissileEffect.ini is still here as a SF2 update version. Can anyone help please ?

Effects ini files
UllyB replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks. That is the POWER of knowledge when you KNOW something that others don't. -
Hello Sir,
Sorry to bother you, but I think maybe you could help me. I want to make an effect similar to SF1 for AMRAAM missile, but for SF2. In SF1 it was called LongRangeMissileEffect.ini , maybe you remember it. Could you send me here the content of the MissileFireEffect.ini file for SF2 ? I can't find it in SF2 CATs (I play SF2 Israel only for now) or maybe I don't know how to find it. If I see the content of this file ( the MissileFireEffect.ini) I can copy/set the line for the shader in LongRangeMissileEffect.ini I want to create for SF2. I think it might work, but if I am wrong please feel free to correct me. Thank you for your time!
