The F-104C was used as a strirke platform for its limited deployments in 1965 and 1967. However it was used as an interceptor when needed to deter NVAF Migs. I would say that it was extremly rare to have wingtip mounted sidewinders. The F-104 would have needed the wingtip tanks for the range and payload of air to ground role it was used mostly for.

Australlia was interested as well but the purchased the stop gap superbug while the F-35 is still under development.

We were sopose to be on a cruz, but when the people rebooked us from the company that cancelled they neglected to add my 1 yr old and 3 year old on the passanger manifest so we were unable to cruz. So the FL welcome center put us up for 4 days at Vacation Village Weston. It was no cruz but, was cool went to South Beach and Ft Lauderdale.

I was at the best ball park on this mud ball Fenway. The national Anthem was almost over. I knew there would be somthing, started looking saw the 16s, put down the 4 beers (w/out spilling a drop) powered up the cam and snapped this pic. Now if anyone remembers as soon as the VT National Guard Pilot landed he was grounded and had remedial training a few check rides. The local news channels were all over his sh_t.
